Can you imagine this scene directed by Mel?

It would likely involve a lobotomy instead of shock treatment because for some reason Mel Gibson has a hardon for violence and gore, but don't you dare drop an f-bomb!

Harley is going to show off her new sugar tits tattoo.

I'm a little worried about the non-white characters' new tattoos...

WB making the same fucking mistake over and over again.

The director should fit in with their vision. This just shows they have no vision. Continuing to let directors define their properties means DCEU will never work.

Fuck

White male privilege is magical. Be utterly disgusting, wait a few years and pretend it never happened and people will spread their cheeks for you.

"A few years". The dude made amends, don't know why people keep giving him a hard time. Unlike Roman Polanski, he's hasn't committed a crime or tried to avoid a sentence. He paid for what he did.

Sources tell Variety that some of the names WB has met with — or is planning to meet with — include Ruben Fleischer (“Zombieland”), Daniel Espinosa (“Safe House”), Jonathan Levine (“Warm Bodies”), and Mel Gibson (“Hacksaw Ridge”).

Nothing against Mel.

But WB is just throwing shit to see if it sticks. Damn shame.

A company with Batman, Superman, and Wonderman as IP's can figure this shit out.

Real talk respect to Marvel. It's not lightning in a bottle and they have shown it takes work. More and more I see what they mean about having a road map for MCU.

WB/DC stop worrying about competing with Marvel and worry about getting out competent films.

What amends?

He reduced people like me to a pack of animals. Sorry if I take that personal.

I dunno, it's a little too early to tell on Snyder. I'll wait til Justice league to make a judgement on that but I'm not expecting much
or anything actually

I actually really want them to adapt assault on Arkham with Batfleck

Yeah the backlash would be insane. I can't say I wouldn't watch it but I'd rather it just not happen.

The backlash would not be insane. Dude is up for an Oscar!

Yeah, those other names are probably the real news story. Gibson is the best director on that list but he's a long shot at best. And I'm not crazy about any of these other directors for Suicide Squad to be honest.

This seems like a super bad idea mainly from a PR angle. A lot of feminist DC fans are not gonna be happy about this.

This is what makes zero sense to me. Dude isn't even familiar with the material, so it isn't like he approached them with some amazing idea for the series. And Gibson is a decent director, I'll give him that. But not to the point where it outweighs the PR issues associated with him. So...why? There aren't any promising young directors they'd rather bet on? Or any veteran directors who don't make people's faces contort when their name is mentioned?

I will eat my hat and the coat that came with it if Fleischer gets the job. He's the reason Gangster Squad was a disaster and the last thing that hack directed was the pilot of that awful Drew Barrymore zombie thing on Netflix.

Then again, if WB just want a 'yes man' like a certain other well known production company then they could do worse..., I suppose.

I guess no matter what WB does people are still going to give them shit. It's obvious WB is trying to right the ship by bringing in talent yet people are calling them desperate and out of their minds.

If comic book fans were the only people seeing these movies, the genre would be dead

I can guarantee that the only people that saw that first awful Suicide Squad movie were comic book fans or comic book movie fans. There are a lot of them out there.

I'd even say Gibson is probably the only good director on that list. Although if Life ends up being good, I might change my mind. But Child 44, Gangster Squad, Warm Bodies were all pretty bad.

I agree they could have avoided more controversy, and it's like they purposefully made the short list shit as possible so that Mel seems like the only reasonable choice.
