Despite what you're arguing, alcohol isn't 'magic racism juice'. It isn't 'beat your wife' juice. And this isn't about "his struggle", it's about what he actually believes. And in his own words, he regrets "nothing."

I never said it was. His incident was over a decade ago and he rightfully was outcast from Hollywood. I just don't think it's fair for him to be eternally vilified. He's been forgiven by his peers. Obviously Garfield being an open Jew didn't mind working with him. Maybe he's actually changed?

Then he should be able to make a public apology for everyone in the class to hear. We waitin'.........

Let his ass make an actual apology

Also being forgiven by his peers? The same peers who have clapped for Roman Polanski?

Bizarre match if true. That said, I'm more than done with Gibson, so I'll be passing on SS2 if he gets attached to it.

This really does feel like a random combo though.

I am not going to pay for any Mel Gibson film. I feel like that is how most people feel...... but hey WB must know something I don't

Polanki's situation isn't comparable. He actually raped an underage girl. Mel just said some shitty things while drunk and going through a rough time in his life. He apologized about the Jewish. Even though he technically didn't apologize for the phone incident, from his point of view he thinks he doesn't deserve to be judged for the rest of his life based on one incident. He thinks he should be defined by his action before and since.

Even though he technically didn't apologize for the phone incident, from his point of view he thinks he doesn't serve to be judged for the rest of his life based on one incident. He thinks he should be defined by his action before and since.
And from my point of view, fuck his racist ass

Hell if we take his actions before, there's still antisemitism and being accused of homophobia

Dude this isn't the hill. He's a racist sexist price of shit.

Nah let him die on this hill

The hill of a man who has never EVER apologized for saying he hopes the mother of his child got raped by a pack of niggers is definitely the hill to die on because he makes good movies

He's free to think that. And I'm free to think he and everyone White Knighting for him should fuck off.

That's fair. Obviously the things he said in the past offended you on a personal level. I won't argue you shouldn't feel that way. Some people say and do things out of character when their going through some tough times. I just wanted people to see from that perspective.

Good for him? I'll say a lot of people have a different point of view. And Mel works in a business where he wants them to give him their money. So...

If they pick Mel it is instant huge amounts of publicity.

And it is not like Suicide Squad was a critical darling.

So they may be like: "Lets do this and see what happens"

This defense is always hilarious to me. Being drunk and upset doesn't make you say racist things, being a racist is what makes you say racist things.

Yeah saying that shit in a drunken rage ain't exactly something a person says out of character while going through tough times

I ain't gonna be throwing racial slurs around because I'm drunk and in a bad fucking mood

That's understandable. I just don't know if it's fair to call him racist when people that know him far better than we do (Whoopi, Stallone, Glover) have expressed otherwise.

People always say "Oh he's not a racist, homophobe, sexist!" "I know him better than anyone!"

People act a goddamn fool when they ain't around those they may offend

Well that's just about the last director I expected for something like this.

He also beat his girlfriend and told her she deserves it.

I'm sorry, but this simply isn't true. As someone who has dealt with people suffering from alcoholism, it most definitely changes who you are. It's an addiction just like any other and people are certainly not in their right mind when affected.

Let's put it this way. He said something extremely racist which was exposed to public record, and that hurt a lot of people who became apprehensive of supporting his future work. He has not apologized about it or made any public comment about that. He did apologize and make a public comment about some -other- racist comment he made about a different racial group. I don't think it matters who knows him and what they think. I don't think it matters if it is "fair to call him racist". The fact is, if you say something like that, people are going to think less of you, and it is up to you to make amends.

Yeah he's a fucking cunt

But because he made good movies I should forgive him

Okay

I'm sorry, but I've also dealt with alcoholics, they say a lot of shit they wouldn't say in front of people they know who they would offend...

Perlmutter has nothing to do with the Marvel movies anymore.

But even if he did, I'm not sure how you think that's comparable. Supporting Donald Trump is not the same thing as saying "I hope you get raped by a pack of n******."

Like, not even remotely.

First, how is the CEO of Marvel has "nothing to do with the Marvel movies" anymore? You don't think he benefit directly from the success of Marvel movies? The guy that leads the entire company? Or am I missing something here?

Second, that is a weak excuse. If you find that you can't support Gibson due to your moral standing, which is fine, then of course it is comparable, since it is a moral issue whether you support someone--whether directly or indirectly--that support Donald Trump. Moreover, the act of supporting Donald Trump, especially with the kind of money a CEO of a wealthy company has, is arguably--heck, I would even say inarguably--much more damaging than a guy saying racist slurs in a private encounter. Not even remotely? Yeah, right.

It sounds like just mere justification you make just so that you can enjoy Marvel movies with no moral consideration to me.

If we're playing the game of excluding Gibson's racial rants......he is a fantastic director and this is below him. If he were to do it...chances are it might turn out pretty good, but a lot of people wouldn't give it the time of day given his racist beliefs.

I'm pretty sure he thinks it's below him... I don't know how much it would affect it though, people are going to think DC brand first before the the director.

I have alcoholics in my family and they have yet to say anything anti-Semitic or tell their spouses they hope they get raped by niggers.

So you wouldn't support your friend if you knew he did or said something out of character?
Did my friend call someone a nigger? Did they say they hope someone gets raped? Did they say any other fuck shit?

They on they own

Friends ain't to help you when you severely fuck up, they to call you on ya shit
So you're assuming all alcoholics are the same?

I am literally talking about the ones I have dealt with

Alcohol doesn't make you a fucking racist
