Has Miyamoto ever been angry ?

Serious question. I mean i love the guy, but c´mon, he´s approaching creepy levels.
I know some of the quotes might been lost in translation and stuff, but ive never seen the guy without a smile on his face, and not saying something nice about something.
Its like he became the human equivalent of Mario. He´s like a poster for being happy and uplifting about everything. I have seen an anger or disagreeing quote from every developer, even Japanese ones, but never from Shiggy.

Dont get me wrong, i love the way he is, not bashing on other people´s work or anything, is just that i find it weird.

He looked pretty fucking pissed at E3 when Zelda was broke.

I'm not sure if that was anger or frustration.

Anyways, everyone is angry at some point in time, and it happens on a fairly regular basis for most people... Even if you are a really happy person, things will make you angry because it's a perfectly valid feeling, so even though we haven't seen him angry, I'm positive he's been angry before.

It's very obvious (to me, at least) that he is a crotchety old firebrand behind the scenes who staples a smile onto his face for public appearances.

At least until he's caught looking at Silicon Knights' latest creation.

I think drohne once posted a story where he claimed he saw him chewing out two suits and then turned around to smile and wave at some fans and then went right back to destroying the suits.

Haven't we hard this exact topic before?

Anyway, I doubt it.
Robots don't need to display such harsh emotions.

The angriest I've ever seen him was when he got mildly upset at the Wiimote not working properly during this E3's Zelda: Skyward Sword demonstration.

I think there are far more angry people at Nintendo than you might think.

I never said there wasnt, in fact, im saying there are. Thats why i find it weird on Miyamoto.

Yeah, and he was seriously laughing at points, the man can keep his cool :lol

He's a boss to thousands of people, so of course he gets angry. People not doing their job is going to make any boss angry. Also, he's a human being

Then I guess you haven't been here too long.

C´mon dude, its a way of saying, that E3 pic above proves it. You know what i mean.

And to all of you saying stuff like "yeah of course he gets angry" i know, he´s a human being after all :lol im just saying if there´s anything on record of him being angry at something, a specific quote, for example.

Wasn't there something about him going to Retro and raging about metroid?

Pretty sure all this stuff about "upending the tea table" is just metaphor talk.
I doubt he actually broke computers and flipped desks.

The man threw a table during a conference call and hit Retro in Texas. That takes serious rage!

Donkey Kong Country proves that players will put up with mediocre gameplay as long as the art is good.

There you go. I think the quote was originally printed in Next Generation magazine.

I need quotes.

I remember hearing about how involved he was with Metroid Prime in it's early stages (planning and the general direction of the game), but that's really par for the course.

Upending the tea table and all that.

Isn't that "standard" boss procedure in Japan? Something about humiliating the subordinates once in a while to get them motivated or something like that.

Yeah, but the quote is also taken out of context.
It was said because he was getting pressure from both inside and outside of the company suggesting that a western studio was going to replace him and Mario.

I remember reading that he was kind of an ass to regular employees during the making of Metroid Prime. Like he really looked down on people. I remember reading about this on fatbabies

I think when Miyamoto gave Retro Studios that visit back in the day he must of been pissed, didn't like 4 games than canned after that meeting?

To be fair, outside of one semi interesting hack and slash, they were all crap.

Retro had pretty much shit the bed by then. They had several projects in the works, including Metroid Prime, and they couldn't nail down any one of them, including Metroid Prime. So they had to cancel everything except Metroid Prime to make sure Metroid Prime wasn't a huge piece of shit.

And then Retro went from a "Rare replacement" to a one-game-at-a-time studio.

Also I think the company president was spending development money on hookers and blow (no joke)

Yep.

But we don't know if he was angry, he just knows what's right and wrong. He shows up, takes a look at some stuff, and says dump all of it, and focus on MP. Retro employees must've hated him/the decision, but it looks like he was right.

I think you should ask the guys at Retro Studios to find out this question.
Yeah, I remember they said it was like "the Emperor visiting the Death Star". He had a pretty serious look the whole time and didn't really like any of the projects.
