Has Miyamoto ever been angry ?

Years ago during one E3, someone from Nintendojo tried to ask Miyamoto a question in Japanese. He butchered the language so badly that the translator just told him to ask it in English.

E3 2001. He was trying to ask Miyamoto "how do you like working at Nintendo?" :lol
Christ that was hilarious. That was the highlight of the show for me. Those spazzes were also tooling around wearing freaking "banzai" style headbands and jerseys for the whole show.

Only a true villian would kill the F-0 series after GX/AX and the anime games. Plus, since I assume that he played them, he obviously threw a tantrum at some point (as all veterans of GX do).

F-Zero 3DS. Believe.

Miyamoto is indeed a scary guy off stage.

Who do we trust, out of context Next Generation magazine quote, or this?

I dunno, actually. I think the original quote came from one of the Stamper Bros. (although I can't be 100% on that one)

I figure the true story is somewhere inbetween. Miyamoto was pressured by higher-ups to make Yoshi's Island more like Donkey Kong Country and maybe snapped a bit and said some things he would regret later. If you look at his response in the IGN interview, he chooses his words carefully. He doesn't really say that the Next Gen quote was a lie, he just says he likes DKC and worked closely with Rare during its development. Honestly (and I love me some Miyamoto) I could see it as him trying to defuse a potential PR problem, since he did the IGN interview around the time that DKC Returns was announced for the Wii. I really don't think the original quote came out of the aether, and the man is human afterall.

Either way it doesn't take anything away from him as a creator.

I am pretty sure you can blame Nagoshi for the lack of a new GX.

Not that I think Nintendo is knocking down his door with requests, though.

Its always the mild-mannered guys who snap the most when things get unbearable.

I bet he turns into Bowser.
Beware the nice ones indeed.

Isn't that "standard" boss procedure in Japan? Something about humiliating the subordinates once in a while to get them motivated or something like that.
I recently wrote a 20+ pages paper about Japanese companies, so I might be able to partly answer that (I'm by no means an expert). During research for the paper I read an article from 1994 that said the Japanese managers can only give negative critisism at work, because if he gave his subordinate praise at the workplace it would cause them both to lose face. So the "damage control" happens later on during the after-work parties, where the manager tells his subordinate that he's actually a good employee and gives him praise there instead. So a manager can basically yell at an subordinate and call hem a "worthless piece of sh*t" and later the same day say "well, you're actually a really good and valuable employee". At least this was in 1994 so things might have changed since that, even though I don't think so.

Might have been mentioned, but didn't we hear that he thought Mario Galaxy 2 was hard to the point where he slammed the table and shouted once? I can't remember where I read that, but I guess it was in an Iwata Asks or something.

I think he said that some levels of Galaxy 2 made him shout and pound the table out of frustration.

This question might be best asked of someone who was on the original Metroid Prime team, from what I hear.
Odd, I heard the exact opposite in that he was very polite. I heard that from both a teacher who worked at Retro and a teacher who worked on Shadows of the Empire way back on the N64.

I've never seen Miyamoto mad, but then I've only seen him representing Nintendo, and everyone at Nintendo is always happy. Always. I've also never seen that Mega64 video, and somehow my respect for Miyamoto has increased. [edit] holy shit was that Cliff at the end of the Metal Gear video?:lol

The 4chan thing about everyone bitching about Zelda games is irritatingly truthful. But hopefully this means that everyone who plays Skyward Sword will either love it, or go back to Twilight Princess and remember how damn good it is.

That reminds me, should we get a head start and post a Skyward Sword sucks thread? We might as well save people some trouble.
