Nintendo Switch Previews are coming in

It seems like a crazy thing for them to overlook during development, I imagine the day 1 patch will sort things out.

It was crazy when the PS3 launched with a de-syncing Sixaxis controller, but it still happened and didn't get fixed until the Dualshock 3 came out. My Sixaxis would de-sync 1 or 2 times an hour, this seems even more frequent than that.

It's not more frequent. Jose Otero reported it happened to him three times in 20 hours.

Still sucks, of course.

If BotW is universally hailed as, objectively, the greatest game ever made... can we all agree that this is a pretty decent launch lineup then?

Sure!

Fast RMX hitting next Friday already did that for me, though!

Lets not get ahead of ourselves here. Wait a month or so when most have finished it to see how people truly feel.

Alright, let's settle down guys lol

It is going to be a good game. But don't overhype yourselves

I'm clearly joking. Objectively.

I definitely think it'll be a fantastic game and I don't personally care that much how well it reviews, but these types of impressions are kinda hard to just ignore. I think this will be a very, very special game, potentially GotG material.

Its a port so it doesnt count

Of course, I knew it. Then Wii U is redeemed, right?

Wheres giant bomb stuff?
Probably will just hold off until reviews and long-form video can be published without sizeable restrictions. This kind of preview coverage isn't normally their style.

They will probably do a launch day stream with for hardware anyways.

The great thing about the Zelda hints is that it appears the press has had a pretty substantial amount of time with the game. These don't seem to be impressions after a few hours of playing it. For instance, it was said that the IGN writer (I think it was IGN), in the tweet about the Joycon sync issue, had put in about 20 hours on Zelda. So we're probably getting pretty reliable feedback for how the game will be received.

Can the switch be docked with the screen facing towards the back of the dock? Just curious how many people will try to force it that way when not paying attention if it cannot be docked that way.

...?

None of the negatives that have been shared are really news, except for the joycon syncing issue. What exactly makes Nintendo stink so badly, in your eyes?

This thread is a master class of troll and be trolled. I'm about to join in and see if this old boy's still got it

*cracks knuckles*

I mean, it does diminish things when a near identical version is available on other hardware.

It's more than enough for me personally since Zelda is a top franchise for me, I only need one game right now, and I'd prefer the higher resolution version. But even the best game of all time on it's own isn't enough to objectively call a launch window good.

Yep, previews tomorrow should be pretty telling on how outlets feel about the final product.

I don't really agree. I put quality over quantity. Mario 64 lasted months for me.

I agree with this. I had zero issues whatsoever with the N64 launch. I'll take an all-time classic over 15 "decent" games any day.

Like many others have pointed out, I was referring to MSRP. While you can readily get controllers for 40-ish dollars NOW, THREE YEARS in, you could not get them for much below MSRP that first year.

Show me an online retailer receipt of getting a controller for 40-50 in the first 6 months of either PS4 or Xbox One.

It's not exactly the same thing but Amazon ran a promotion before the PS4 launch where if you traded in $30+ worth of games, you received the money for your trade in plus a credit on your account for $30 off a DS4 controller + $20 off Beyond Two Souls.

The best part of it was the $30 off the DS4 credit worked multiple times. It wasn't supposed to of course, but it did. So I got 2 extra controllers at $30 each at launch.

My take is: Yeah, maybe I could be happy just playing Zelda on the WiiU; but I'll want Splatoon 2, I'll want Xenoblade Chronicles 2, I'll want Super Mario Odyessy.

I highly doubt the Switch will come down in price by the time those games are out; so why not drop the $300 now, play Zelda on it, enjoy the launch hype, then wait 6 months to pay the same price?

Really hoping Zelda delivers for me despite my doubts about open-world/survival/non-linear/puzzle content, etc.

Yeah. It also is just I want to start a new generation after this long Wii U drought. And I think the Switch hardware is cool/think Nintendo is right on with where they are taking their business. Hope they can execute that vision and that they find partners for it.

That's the argument OP is making though. The games are of high quality but overall the number of titles is a disaster. The N64 launched with two games in the US, Pilotwings and Mario.

eh just thinking out loud. I've been becoming more and more annoyed by the Switch every say since that big ol reveal event. hearing that it feels rushed from people who have it in their hands is incredibly annoying. having no VC, having a lineup of four new games this year.
I'm not dropping $420 to play Bomberman and Zelda when I can spend $50 to play Zelda

For MSRP, right?

of course. plus tax

Yeah I don't remember ever being hyped as much as I was when I first went to my friend's house and saw his launch day N64 (that rich bastard) with Mario 64 on his giant CRT TV...

The Wii U kinda proves that quality matters far more than quantity for a console launch. Or perhaps it proves that the release schedule following launch is far more important than the launch day releases...

Alright so Gamestop is running a +50% trade in bonus towards Nintendo Switch games and accessories, so does that mean I can talk about how effectively games are 30 dollars and the Pro Controller is 35 dollars?

It just occurred to me that I will very rarely use the system in portable mode...maybe I should spring for the charging grip so I don't have to drop the Joycons onto the system.

To me, that only makes sense if you are going to have your system somewhere that makes it very inconvenient to dock Joy-Cons. The USB cable that comes with the charging grip looks really short.
