Was supposed to see it tonight, but plans have changed. Hopefully sometime this weekend because I was really looking forward to it. Happy to hear of its success.

This movie lives up to all the hype and way more. I had to regain my composure after it was all said and done and still need to process a lot of it. Peele has quite the eye for horror and surrounded himself with some very talented individuals.

Excellent film on every level.

This is great to hear. Still trying to decide between John Wick Chapter 2, A Cure for Wellness, and this to see with the girlfriend tomorrow. I know Wellness is the weakest of the three, but the trailers look really damn interesting to me. It'll probably come down to if we're feeling like something light or something not.

Fucking hell, GAF. THIS MET AND EXCEEDED THE HYPE! Perfect audience too that popped, laughed at the right moments. And I think that's the best way to experience this movie. Would easily recommend. Go out and watch this shit.

And it's funny watching this being aware of/having watched Black Mirror's Fifteen Million Merits (since the lead, Daniel Kaluuya is in that too) and you can see how they cast him with some of that role in mind. In fact this entire movie was an extended American Black Mirror episode.

Anyway, between this, Lego Batman and John Wick 2, 2017 is off to a stupid good start.

Wait is it actually a horror movie with comedy elements or a comedy movie with horror elements? For the first half of the trailer, I thought I was watching a horror movie parody. Actually, I'm still not sure. Someone send an adult.

how is this movie doing box office wise? any ideas?

I noticed it's being marketed quite a bit. I plan to see it tonight but wondering if I should buy tickets in advance in case the theater gets sold out on me?

70% Horror/Thriller, 20% Drama and 10% Comedy, but it's all played with and combined in a seemingly effortless way that you hardly notice those specific genre beats go by, but merely go along with the story without recognizing them. It's all blended very well.

Oh wow, I remember to see him in British comedy show and I think he was also in Doctor Who not sure. Now it seems he have a great start on a movie career.

Just saw the movie in a small town where white people laughted at the
Preview's auction scene
and people laughed at split's
"pee on your self so you won't be raped"
scene. I was pleasantly surprised that so many this time were positive. The movie was really tight and I look forward to the many analysis that are sure to follow. This is a mandatory watch!

Good fucking flick. It's not really horror for those wondering. It's hard to describe it, but it has that sort of uneasy feeling the entire time like in old Hitchcock films, but not the horror we're use to outside a scene or two.

Is it 130 and 0 good? No, but the film is sort of amazing in the sense of how many layers it blends int. The eeriness to everything, the satire, comedy, etc. And it has the right pieces to everything. Never too silly, scary, serious, etc. And he knows exactly when to lean back on the tension then pick it up.

Man, I remember when I first read that Peele was making a horror movie, I scratched my head and didn't think it would work. Color me surprised

Damn, the Average Rating has actually gone UP since OP made the thread, which is not very common on Rotten Tomatoes.

I don't like horror/scary movies generally, but this film has me very intrigued both because of the creator and the positive critical press it's gotten. Should I see this movie?

Black Mirror was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the poster for this movie, without knowing anything else about it. Kinda want to see it now...

It's not scary/horrific. At least not in the traditional jump scare ghost sense. It's more unsettling. Go watch it.

When i saw the trailer i legit burst out laughing. I mean it seems more like a comedy to me but if it's getting these good reviews i'll give it a watch.

Yeah people still don't understand RT unfortunately. Is it the greatest movie I've seen this decade? No, but it was awesome, surprising and fun all the way through.

Movie is fucking legit. I really can't think of a single negative, and the story was as clever as the best of them. I'd call it 5/5.
Edit - yeah, not horror. Solid thriller. More Silence of the Lambs than Halloween.

I don't know what I think about the movie. Is it meant to be
satire on race relations? A comment on miscegenation? Race fetishism?
I suppose it does at the very least raise these questions, which is more than can be said for a lot of films.

Also, I had no idea that this was a Blumhouse production, but it makes perfect sense that they'd be the ones behind it.

Yeah, I was thinking that this could have been a Black Mirror episode with some minor tweaks.

It's definitely
race fetishism.

Even saying it is a spoiler.

Just came back from watching the film. Pretty damn enjoyable film that made me laugh hard at times. All the scenes with the best friend were a riot.

Also had soome great moments of tension.

My town's one screen isn't showing this.

The town over has a seven screen theater, and it's not showing it.

I drove 45 minutes (one way) to the next town down the highway, and it was sold out 15 minutes before showtime. Gonna leave much earlier tomorrow night to catch it.
