Edge #304 - The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild special

Good God the conclusion of EDGEs review:

" The result, for all the longevity of its series and the familiarity of the open world genre, is a game that evokes feelings we haven't felt for 20 years. Not since Ocarina of Time have we set foot in a world that feels so mind-bogglingly vast and unerringly magical, that proves so relentlessly intriguing. Plenty of games promise to let us go anywhere and do anything. Few, if any, ever deliver so irresistibly. 19 years on Ocarina is still held up as the high water mark of gamings best loved and greatest series. Now it may have to settle for second place".

"Plenty of games promise you can go anywhere and do anything. Few if any deliver"

Cough *No Man's Sky* Cough (or what some were calling the "game of eternity")

Glad that Zelda is once again showing people how it is done. Easily the best video game series of all time

Good god indeed. I remember exactly how I felt when I discovered Ocarina of Time. This feeling it was so ahead of its time. So that's it again?

I'm getting Xenoblade vibes, in that BotW might end up being one of those games that are just a magical experience from start to finish. I remember exploring Colony 9 to that amazing theme, finding out you can go anywhere and encountering all sorts of weird and high level monsters. So much time spent fucking around and soaking in the magic. And that's just the starting area. Then you arrive at Gaur Plains and the game blows your socks off all over again, and you meet a few great characters. And then you get to Eryth Sea and later on Frontier Village and you can't help but marvel at the craft of game making. These people are artists.
Sometimes a game grabs you and doesn't let go. And sometimes a game grabs you and you don't want it to let go, ever. You wanna stay nestled in the hand.

Remember when people called out GameXplain for their OOT comparison in the preview thread yesterday? lol

You got it reversed.
It was BotW trolls who kept butting in the HZ preview/ Review threads.

Might have been 1 or 2 delusional ones, but the consensus has always been that Zelda would review and sell extremely well.

Yep it was more like people wanted to reaffirm themselves that Sony could not release a better open world game than their precious Zelda.

I'm surprised, because its Edge, but at the same time I'm not. Like, sure many Zelda's had huge initial praise but nothing quite like this since Ocarina which back then was more word of mouth and tabloids.

It's definitely going to be the Galaxy of this generation.

wonder what's going on on NeoGAF tod-

yeah, no zelda vs horizon crap in this thread either please. It's just as annoying here as it was in the Horizon review thread. So just don't.

Question: will discussion about it be banned from both the Horizon and Zelda OT? I certainly hope so because it can ruin both those threads.

People need to accept both games will be fantastic and thats a win if you are a gamer.

The E-Penis stuff is just dumb.
Even if one scores higher who cares? You can still enjoy the game you like or even both.

2017 is maybe the best year in gaming ever we should be happy!

Wow. I can't wait to play this.

So. The best handheld game of all time?

Any word on how big the map is? I remember watching a youtube video that was speculating on the overall map size based on the previews, etc.

Also, has the full world map been leaked yet?
