Just left the plateau. Initial thoughts:

-I really wish there was more music
-I hate that the weapons break so easily
-The pro controller is amazing
-So much frame rate stuttering
-The Switch is so cute. The stand feels cheap though.
-You really can climb everything lol
-The button layout is kinda weird. Switching weapons is unintuitive

hmmm

reading those points, you appear to be my twin.

Got the game on the Wii U. I was expecting the worst when it came to frame rate but to my surprise it was alright so far only occasional slight dips here and there but nothing too major. That said i have only played for two hours. So things might change.

Just got it all hooked up, played for a few minutes and now I gotta charge the damn joycons. Is it important to charge them to full the first time?

Switch and Zelda were just delivered (also two bottles of delicious wine!). 4.5 more hours of suffering and then I'm heading straight home!

I'd like to know if I can play the Switch in handheld mode with uncharged joycons while the Switch is plugged in with the AC adapter.

Early game question. I just acquired the bombs, but I'm having trouble defeating
not sure of its name, but it like a rock creature that fires laser beams. It's near a shrine where you get the bomb. Is it possible to defeat this thing was the bombs? So far it does little damage

When NPCs or Books tell me about certain things but that doesn't trigger a sidequest you can still go after it, right?

Two questions about Wolf Link:

1. Like every amiibo, you can only use him once right?

2. Can he get health back? Say perhaps by feeding him something?

If you have the patience? Sure lol.

Protip:
If you got two targeting you at once you can bait one to fire lasers at the other. Massive damage.

Does anyone know what the '3 useful items' are in the season pass?

I'm thinking of buying the DLC before i start, but i don't really want a sword or shield that doesn't break at the beginning of the game. I'm sure its not that, but i don't want to pay to make the game easier if i can help it.

Ah yes, guardians. So it's possible to defeat them with the bombs? Any weak spots, and once they lock on you, you're doomed? Unless you find cover I guess.

Just 5 bomb arrows and a ruby. The third item is the Switch shirt.

So I was going to sell my Pro controller as I'm enjoying using the JoyCons and could use the cash. I haven't even taken it out of the box yet.

Is there any particular reason the Pro controller is so good and is worth keeping?

Don't sell the pro controller. Seriously. You don't want to keep using the joycon grip for longer play sessions. Pro is leagues better and more comfortable.

Aha, missed this post from the impressions thread.

IDK, I feel like £60 is more valuable than marginally more comfort while playing.

Also, the stick is directly in the same position it's in on the PS4 controllers which gives me RSI in my thumb joint. I can just avoid that with the JoyCons by using the base of my thumb

You can but it'll take an incredibly long time. You can dodge the lasers with some strafing but it takes some practice getting the timing right. If you've got a lot of weapons to spare I would recommend waiting for their alert status to cool down, sneak up behind them and go ham on them until they notice you again. Rinse and repeat.

Once you have the bow and arrow,
hit their eyes. That's their weak spot.

Played about eight hours so far and what has impressed me more than anything is that despite all of the changes, the game just feels like traditional Zelda. Like Skyward Sword * The Legend of Zelda with a pinch of Wind Waker thrown in.

I've experienced a few things with the gameplay and structure so far that could annoy me quite a bit later on but I'm hopeful that with time it becomes a minor or non-issue. Still, based off my experience so far, this is the most realised and possibly the best Zelda game to date.

That's what I actually done when I got the bow and arrow. Thanks for the help!.

Oh, and how do you strafe?

GameXplain video with locations of the chests in case you need it. The items seem really lame. Gonna hold off on the DLC.

Where are the expansion pass chests?

See above

Ok. Good tip.

When it gets cold, you don't have the right clothes, not near a fire or have a torch, what's the best option to survive? I tried fast traveling to another location.
Food?

Im gonna have to play this on my monitor for awhile.

I saw one hiccup in the first area. But not yet seen it suffer any frame rate issues at all.

Maybe its because I have been playing in portable mode or havent played enough of the game or a combination of both, but hearing people say the frame rate is really bad hasnt been my experience at all.

If you've locked on to an enemy Link will automatically circle around them when you move sideways. If strafing is too hard you might want to cook
some food that increases movement speed.

All reports seem to indicate the Switch in portable mode performs noticeably better than docked, yeah.

Portable mode really is a better experience outside of sheer screen size and audio. Runs smoother and IQ is 10 times cleaner with the higher pixel density on the small screen.

Pretty much bought a Switch for handheld use so that suits me fine.

When you say audio, do you mean the built-in speakers? Or is the headphone jack audio not good?

It is. I'm really surprised Nintendo shipped a flagship Nintendo that drops frames so often.

Yep me too, this is the first and i hope it's the last.
If there is one thing i always loved about their flagship games it's that you could almost guarantee a smooth ride.
Sadly it's not the case for this title, fingers crossed for a patch at some point.
I can't see any reason why it shouldn't be smoother on the tv.

I got bomb arrows from one, fire arrows from another, and I haven't found the third unless it was the Switch shirt. That might be all though since they're all next to shrines, except there's no chest by the Stasis shrine.

MY BROTHER

People hate on Skyward Sword so much and I just basically sit around scratching my head because it feels like I played a completely different game.

Ya'll my brothers.

The sole fact that Skyward Sword featured Loftwings made the game into an instant fav.

I might be biased here, however...

Wow that last Sheika slate perk, I'm amazed at the stuff it does. How come no one came up with that idea in an exploration based game before?

Gotta say I'm glad I went with the Wii U version. Runs beautifully on my end. Gonna get a Switch for Mario. Nothing else interests me at this point beside DQ11 and Octopath.

Skyward sword also has some of the best and most diverse character line-ups since Majora's Mask or maybe Wind Waker!

Especially compared to Twilight Princess.

SW=TWW > TP

It's a beautiful experience even with all the handholding going on. I loved flying into the dark clouds and find that whale flying rogue and fighting the parasite. The flooded forest also came straight out of my childhood fantasies, haha. I LOVE flooded forests for some reason!

No kidding, I really hope there's a flooded forest in BotW I can traverse by boat or something.

Played for about 3 hours. Just got to
Kakariko
. Fun so far, though honestly I'm not feeling the excitement I usually get from a Zelda game. Game really chugs on Wii U, even outside the plateau, but looks fine overall. I thought the voice acting was honestly pretty bad so far, especially for
the king
. Having the same visual style for all the shrines so far is also a letdown. Game is obviously huge, looking forward to exploring some more in the morning.

Guys I bought a switch from Amazon France but I'm in Japan now.(I'm leaving back to France on Tuesday). If I buy Zelda from here in Japan, will it work on My FR switch? Also, does it come with all system languages so if my system is in French, language will be French?

I. Keep. Dying.

God this game has been everything I wanted out of Zelda. I got home around 12:30am from picking it up and wanted to try the game out... now it's 2:30am...

Now I understand why the guy in the Switch trailer totally ignores his dog.

mother of god this game

As someone who has been playing A Link between Worlds (1st play through) this morning, jumping into this game is a mindfuck. The scale is incredible.

Yes to everything. Switch console and games are completely region free.
