Random note from when I was playing earlier. The controls felt so off playing through, like I was struggling to do what I wanted. Was very happy to find look sensitivity. Fast movement users are king.

Game is blowing my mind so far.

Only negative is the performance (playing in docked mode). One of the first moments stepping out in the open was marred by a shocking framerate drop. It really left a bad first impression.
How bad is it when you move your camera around in temple of time? I saw some footage of the wiiu version, and the framerate drops below 15.

Question about apples:
How do I grill/roast apples and other stuff over campfires?

How long is the WiiU download?

OVerall there were 3 downloads. The first one (I guess the main game) took me about 1,5 hours, then there was a second download, have no idea, and the third as shows omn the picture, about 20 min.

There are some performance issues in the Switch version of the game but honestly it really doesn't effect much. I wouldn't dig the game for it so far.

Something I love that is more in the background is the saving in this game...it autosaves constantly without obstruction and love that you start right were you saved no matter where in the world instead of say staring in a 'save house' or 'safe spot'.

I am also loving that wind affects ponds of water, I was carring a torch and the wind was blowing, I thought it was the wind putting off the torch, but it wasn't I stood away from the pond of water and wind just move the flame, but didn't turn it off, I walk near the pond and saw the little drops of water flying and behold...the torch went out O_O

Bought the retail Wii U version and it looks like the mandatory on-disc install IS the day one patch.

i.e. You only need 2.3GB on your Wii U HDD to install the game, not 5.
It looks like when Nintendo announced the install sizes they were already including the patch.

Yeah also when it windy and you are near a waterfall it feels like it is raining and the ground gets wet. Talk about detail here. Incredible.

Nice! I haven't gotten close to a waterfall...actually scare of water areas after a bad bogoblin encounter where I ended up drawining xP

.

You don't. Here's how cooking works:
You first gotta find a cooking bowl (campfire with a bowl above it) then light a fire under it. Then you go into your inventory and "hold" up to five things. You'll get a prompt for "Cook" once you're near a lit cooking bowl - you do NOT need to aim and throw items in there manually.

You can roast some things like apples by throwing them basically into the fire then picking them up once they change, but you will get much more hearts and bonus effects doing proper cooking.

I'm lttp but that's a damn fine OT.

My game has arrived at home I'm just waiting on the switch. It's a magical time for gaming.

I wonder how many of the reviews giving it 10 even mentioned the FPS issues in docked mode? This games deserves a lot more than 900p and sub 30fps :/

Yeah, this is quite amazing to me. Docked mode I swear drops to 15-20fps at times - it really is jarring. If Horizon or any other game had drops like that, it would get murdered in reviews-- much less reviewing near the top games of all time. I'm still enjoying the game, but it is definitely marring the experience and should negatively effect the review scores.
(I have the Day 1 patch)

That's been my main problem so far, the controls are a bit daunting and it doesn't help with the small joy-cons and cramped buttons with the grip. The only other negatives I can say is the inventory management and frame-rate problems, though they have seemed to.most subsided outside the Plateau.

Hope the pro controller can rectify my problems with controls so far. I will try adjusting the look sensitivity as well.

Exactly the same here. I wish I could have a different button for sprinting and jumping. It's either X for jump and B for sprinting or vice versa.

But there IS an option for that - you can switch X and B in the settings! Sadly, no way to switch A and B to make OK/cancel work like other consoles.

Yeah the OK/cancel shit is killing me. You can tell I haven't played a Nintendo system in a long time. :(

Am I the only one that died on the very first combat encounter? Hell I nearly died before I even encountered an enemy when I dropped from a high point lol.

Yeah it really shouldn't be overlooked in reviews - it does matter. I'm really curious how the Wii U version fares in the same location(s) that the frame drops happen on the Switch. From what I'm hearing it seems like the Switch (docked) has a harder time with different things than the Wii U.

I think its weird that were spoilering basic functions but spoiler-culture is weird

I have only tried in the fires with pots over them but you select hold in yoir inventory and pick which items you want to use, then exit the inventory and toss em in like Emeril, Bam!

That is complete nonsense. Did Witcher 3 or Bloodborne get 'murdered' in reviews?

Oh my god I've been at work for like, 30 minutes and I'm already just fucking done for the day. Zelda day should be a national holiday damnit.

So is there any way to like, roll or.. ?

Coming from Horizon, Nier and Bloodborne, combat feels weird cause I'm so used to dodging/rolling everywhere lol

Holy shit the game is ugly as a sin, I was just playing Horizon yesterday and what a shock it was when I started it lol, the framerate, texture, AF is from an other age, terrible but the gameplay is really good so far and the DA is great but holy shit, this game deserve a better hardware.

Which amiibos from the BotW series are worth getting content and itemwise? can get two as a gift so i want to pick those first which give nice items ingame.

Has it been easy to find physical copies of it in stores this morning? I'm about to head out to Walmart and Target in hopes of finding one. Wii U version.

does this game have any issues with the disc version on wiiu, like in tokyo mirage sessions where the loading times were really long compared to digital?

The framerate drops in those games are on par with BotW? Not even close..

Witcher 3 for sure, game was nearly unplayable for certain stretches at launch and would frequently crash as well. It was pretty broken. Bloodborne just had long load times, I think the framerate issues have been overblown on it, it was always just frameskipping.

Here we go

Is anyone else struggling with the way Nintendo's "cancel" and "accept" buttons are reversed from PlayStation? This is across Switch OS and Zelda. I keep wanting the bottom of the diamond to be accept and my muscle memory is refusing to change. :(

Eh? It's exactly the same as Playstation!

That's strange. I have no idea how anyone can call this game ugly. An yeah I'm a PS4 gamer as well :P

It looks amazing imo.

Frameskipping for sure, I guess I just don't remember TW3 dropping in FPS as low and as often and as jarringly as BotW is for me.

You can dodge and backflip a shrine will teach you how if you don't discover it before/

Two questions:

What's the elixir recipe and
is there a change of clothes on the great plateau? I did the ice shrine with some spicy ass mushrooms like a true man.

This game rules.
