Sliding the Switch in and out of the dock will inevitably scratch the screen

Okay, guess I fucked up by impulse buying a switch this morning. Already noticed the screen scraping against the dock. Seriously, wtf Nintendo.

I'll put the screen protector that comes with the official case right away, then once it's worn down I'll switch (no pun intended) to a tempered glass one.

There are tight space tolerances on the sides of the Switch (as in, it doesn't have a lot of wiggle-room from side to side), I assume? Then how are those scratches being made by docking it? If it was caused by that rubber bumper, there should be grooved vertical scratches, in a narrow range, not scratches going at different angles and some close to the edge of the screen and others farther away. There's a curved scratch a half-inch away!

I don't get how that happens in 2017.

It's impossible to scratch my phone's screen unless I like drop it directly on concrete.

Even the cheapest of phones should be fine because of the advances of Gorilla Glass.

This is a good point too. Multiple scratches at different angles and positions. Doesn't even make sense

Damn, the Nintendo apologists are out in force today. Jesus guys, criticisms railed against the Switch isn't an attack on it. People don't seem to get this.

it doesn't use Gorilla glass? the Vita and the 3DS didn't also

No, that's not what is happening.

I think this report of the scratching is nonsense. But you're embarrassing yourself. No one owes you proof. You're being a jerk.
Is it too much to ask for proof is someone claims that the scratching and is happening to them? I don't believe it is.

Junior shaming? Nice, man. You've gone places.

Also, he never said his screen had scratches. He said he noticed it hitting up against the plastic. Not that it left scratches yet.

So the basis of your accusation doesn't even make sense.

That isn't what you did.

You responded first with "lol, sure you did."

Don't try to pretend like you were asking him a level-headed question.

So.

Are there any reports of the screen being scratched by the dock besides the one in the OP?
Not just touching, but actually leaving scratches on the screen.

I feel like we might need a dedicated thread to keep up with all the Switch issues,

-Left Joy-Con desync.
-Spotty Wi-Fi & can't access public Wi-Fi if a web browser is needed for user agreement.
-Screen gets scratched by poor dock design.
-Frame-rate worsens in docked/TV mode.
-Charging trouble/confusion - poorly indication on when the battery is being drained and when it's properly being charged.

Seems like Nintendo really rushed this bad boy out of the door.
This is actually a hw problem how?

Good points.

Mine isn't scratching. There are marks caused by the bumpers but they can easily be removed.

I don't believe any.

The whole thing seems silly to me. To get THOSE kind of scratches from taking your Switch in and out of the dock a few times in one week? I'm having trouble buying that.

Can someone else show some pictures of their switch as its docking or even a video if possible to reproduce the scenario?

Who're you talking to? Your post is pointless.
