Man the control scheme (Y to dodge is eh?) plus the WiiU tablet are giving me cramps. It's so shit.

Wish my pro controller was still working.

Got it without a preorder!!!! Pretty sure I found the last 6 in town. It's like I'm 5 again and it's the mid 80s!

Good luck

I beat a Major Test of Strength with 4 hearts using
a shockblade
to keep the enemy stunned. It took absolutely forever to whittle his health down as he had 3,000 (three thousand!) HP.

But like you said, it was worth it not to have to leave and come back, which I've only done with one shrine so far. Obviously a Modest Test is different, but the same rules should apply.
Thanks guys, I got it. I just had to reevaluate how I was approaching it. In the end, it worked out because I kept making some dumb mistakes. But I learned a great bit and that's what makes me incredibly happy about the design of this game.

I never knew I wanted an open world Zelda til I played this game, man it's good, it's so damn good so far.

Also I forgot about the amiibos, I didn't get any of the new ones but I have the smash and 30th years thingy around, got some pretty nice loots,
Twilight Princess Shirt, a diamond durability Two-Hands sword and the Boomerang were the best ones
, and seeing wolf link there as your travel buddy filled me with content.

Worth every cent.

Story will give equipment for that feature.
Eh, thought as much. Thanks for confirming it. I'll just press on. I want a solid foundation for Link before I go off course. Too off course. Before I start faffing about like a lunatic with infinite bombs. ...actually I'm already doing that.

Soooo I just found out that Zelda is played by... my friend Patricia Summersett!! This is nuts. I've worked with her many times and had her over to my house to rehearse for auditions and now she's the lead in my favorite videogame series of all time. Dem NDAs are strong...

Just started on the Switch, I'm sure this has been talked about but these framerate drops right at the start are pretty bad. =/

How do you access the amiibos? I have a Wolf Link but I don't know how to get him to appear in game

Love the little touches this game has. Just got to the first tower but before that had a fight with arrows shot at me. They were stuck in the shield and as soon as I put it away I got the arrows. Little touch but love stuff like that. This game is just so damn pretty. Saw the drop by the axe in videos. So I just dove off the cliff to the right and into the water. So no having to deal with it!

Not being able to change Epona's saddle sucks.

I really should go and continue the story (I've completely ignored it after getting off the plateau) since all the enemies are one shotting me, but this side quest is really intriguing me.

Enable amiibo from the options menu and it will appear as a rune for your sheikah slate.

This game is magic

This game is magical.

So there is no way to look at recipes or anything for what makes what?

No, the whole idea is either to look at what you've got and wing it, or remember the ingredients to something that's particularly good. Some NPCs will tell you how to make decent meals, it's up to you to remember the recipe.

is this after the slate photo module update?

Yes.

It may have been mentioned already, but do we get any weapons later that don't have durability loss? No actual weapon names or anything please.

No, that's a core game mechanic that lasts throughout the game.

first you have to enable it on the options of the game and I think it will let you use amiibos once you clear the first trial thing (cause you can't use them right off the beginning) since you access to it like you access to the magnet (used mine like two hours into the game), just press D-Up and select the "amiibo" option.

Wolf Link will appear as soon you put it on the sensor, also if you use the other amiibos do it on a flat surface, I got some loot rolling down a cliff the first time I used it lol.

Ive spent the last few hours just exploring the beginning area. This is legit incredible. Already one of my favorite zelda games and the direction they decided to take is incredible

The framerate in the WiiU version can get really bad... but it almost unbelievable how amazing it looks.

Really? I loved it to death - probably my game of the generation so far - but I have to say that I think it's quite an ugly game. Both HD remakes of the Zeldas are way, way better looking and XCX blows it out of the water visually. That's before we even consider what some game devs are doing on way more powerful hardware.

The visuals and performance are really the only major negatives for me in the game. That said, the character design of Link and NPCs is the exception. That's stunning, and the cell-shading works perfectly.

Are any of you playing the Switch on the joycon grip? Is it good enough? Or do I need to open my pro controller?

I played with it last night before switching to just holding the joycons today, it was smaller then I thought but it worked fine

so, regarding weapon durability, what does it mean if they have a
diamond
icon??

Also is there a way to repair weapons that are about to break?

Cold potion for anyone stuck:

3 peppers, 2x health mushrooms.
Will give you around 8min.

You can put in less too which gives you 5min and around 3min respectively

Or you could do it the dumb way like me and
keep using health items to counteract the damage because I didn't want to go look for a boil pot
