Argh. I hate that the German translation renames a lot of stuff. Is this the big mountain north of Hateno? Is this a shrine sidequest? If so, it's the one I'm going to do next.

Yup!

"On your way to Kakariko" doesn't mean much when you can get anywhere from any direction :P I totally skipped the area that he was in because I was shrine-hunting and just kinda accidentally paraglided my way into Kakariko from on top of a mountain, I had to look up where he was later.

You're right lol He's on the road to the west of Kakariko somewhere, right? Should be easy to spot if you just follow that road.

Might be a very stupid question but where can you check your play time? If you can.

Activity log on WiiU. Parent log on Switch???

I just started finished two shrines... honestly the game looks a little washed out at 720p on my 4K tv... I've gotten used to 4K games with PS4 Pro... anyway how much longer until the game starts to get really good?

I realize that it already feels like a solid open world Zelda game... but how long until it starts to feel like a 98?

You gotta at least get out of the starting area.

Started the game, grabbed a stick, went after a Bokoblin camp, stick breaks before I even kill a single bokoblin. lol

I can already see weapon management is gonna be a important early on.

This game is freaking amazing. I played it for about 10 hours yesterday, including about an hour undocked from the Switch. I am looking forward to another day of exploring.

I think the comparisons to Witcher 3 are pretty apt. I've started to craft myself a set of food/elixers for most situations and use them when needed. I am dying a lot though.

Why does it to have to rain when I really need to climb something? I had to wait out the rain while stuck on a ledge last night because I didn't want to lose my progress climbing out of a canyon-like area.

I love the german translation in Zelda games :D
I already liked the german names in Witcher 3 way more than the english names.

Is anyone else getting weird graphical glitches? I just started and a bunch of weird shit is happening like Link's hair jumping a few feet away from his head and flickering textures all over the place. Should also probably specify this is the physical Switch version I'm playing.

did two long session of gameplay today.
got out of the plateau and finally in the big world but only did one shrine outside of the plateau and wandered aimlessly
game still hasn't clicked for me though..it's by no mens terrible, but i'm not in the "this game is special camp", but there's also to say that i've probably saw less than 10% of it

2 questions

- what's the deal with the red moon? it just respawns all the enemies? do you need to keep looking at it like i did or it does it on it's own?

- how do you tame horses? i managed to get on top of one of them but every time it throws my down after a couple of seconds..do i need to tap L or keep it pressed?

One of the very first things I'm noticing, playing the Wii U version, is that the game runs noticeably smoother in stuttery areas if your hud is set to Pro mode. I guess Wii U has problems with alpha effects or transparencies with this game? because I get the same slowdowns for a split second just quick-switching my weapons, apparently. I'm probably LTTP but for those of you interested in a hardcore experience (no minimap, temp gauge, or weather forecast), your game is gonna run a little better on Wii U with those things disabled, it seems.

Didn't have time to play this game after picking this up this morning , but I have a quick question for those who have. Knowing the DLC is underway and part of it is a difficulty setting; how much of a challenge is the normal setting so far?

Muscle memory is a bastard. I can't get my head around the new controls, the old 3D Zelda scheme is so ingrained.
Same here.

Playing TP right before this was a mistake.

It's not even just that I'm pressing the wrong button s expecting it to do something else but this controller makes my brain constantly confuse the stick placement with the Wii U Pro controller for some reason and I keep hitting A as the "cancel button" like on the Dual Shock 4 for some reason.

My brain is all scrambled even though I logically like the new control scheme and think the way it works is mostly really intuitive for how complex it could be at times, it's just really different from most game control conventions (many of which ironically were probably influenced by Nintendo's own control schemes) and trying to wrap my head around that and this new controller can be strange.

On WiiU got to the first village in this game and the performance drops is quite severe. Coupled with the odd drops here and there when outside villages and it makes it one of the worse performing AAA out there.

I don't understand how the reviews glanced over this issue, it's always something like "yea there are issues but I love the game so whatever".

Tap it but make sure you have enough stamina or you'll get thrown off. You can eat some stamina recovery food if your horse is tougher to tame than usual.

The horse I ended up taming took me a bit while I've seen more gentle horses not even need taming.

What did you think about the Witcher 3 reviews?

Does it get any more annoying?

Bow breaks and instead of just auto equipping my next one I have to hold down Right Trigger, hold down D pad right and select with the analog stick.

So these Korok seeds... I have ten of them now.
How do I boost my max inventory space with them? Can barely pick up anything anymore!

Second question: when you ride them, slightly try to move against the horses own movement and press L (tapping is enough) to pet it. You will get a graphics effect. The guy at the stables explains it to you. Maybe you have to talk him first. Don't know.

Reviews generally only mention performance when they dislike a game and want to be more critical.

Are any of you playing the Switch on the joycon grip? Is it good enough? Or do I need to open my pro controller?

Yes and I'm a 6'6" guy with big hands. You get used to it. I'm sure the Pro controller is better but the default one isn't anywhere near as bad as some people say. Maybe they just have shit dexterity.

Man I am already lost. I just got to the opening area and
can't figure out how to stay warm
. I tried eating the
hot peppers
but they barely work. Not sure I want help more just frustrated.

Yeah I don't mess with that nonsense, I just go into my inventory screen and equip it from there. That button combo sequence just doesn't work right for me in the heat of a battle.

Try cooking a few of them together.

WiiU was always bandwidth starved even compared to the already bandwidth starved PS3, this game is probably pushing it too far.

Probably because reviewers only had the Switch version I guess.

Use a torch.

Do you only get the playtime with the parent log from the moment you activated the parental controls?

Don't own a Switch, so haven't got the slightest idea. I'm just remembering a thread from a week or two ago.

Eat hot peppers and make a run for the peak of the mountain.

peppers alone won't help you. You need to cook something with peppers. Just throw in some mushrooms and peppers. Alternatively do the secret recipe thing in the old mans house or use a lit torch

My Walmart didn't stock any switches, any copies of either version of BOTW, the only evidence that anything happened was there were some bobokin amiiibos. Seriously?

40 hours of gameplay (got the game monday) and still can't figure out how to get rubies easily I have some precious minerals but maybe they will be useful for something else...

I love surfing with the shield, it's so fun to go downhill with those.

Do multiples matter? I did eat 2 and immediately was having issues.

All incredients that have a buff noted in the text will need to be cooked. There is an extra icon next to the cooked consumables that will grand you a buff.

Got to the first village, after doing a major detour to the tower in the main Hyrule field area (
that involved trying to get out of guardians' sights while climbing it D:
)and a few smaller ones.

Overall I am having a lot of fun, especially with the shrines, which has so far been quite interesting. There is definitely some notable framerate dips (playing on the WiiU), which I can probably live through much of them, but not sure if I would be excited to explore a village during heavy rain or such, cause it is already particularly noticeable in the first village without any weather.

Anyone?? :c

I bought it digitally and it the update was added to my download queue automatically. For physical I believe it prompts you to download the update when you put the disc in, and you do this outside the eshop. There is no seperate download in the eshop so I assume that's what will happen. Same thing with smash bros.

Well, the thousands of hours I have spent playing Souls games really helped me out w/ the out-of-nowhere
Stone Talus
. It got wrecked. very very fun

I noticed there being a second page of stuff in my material inventory. Is there unlimited space for thing like materials and food? That'd be great if true!

do i want to keep gems or can i sell them without remorse?
the description of them says something about them having the power of fire or water or something, but they are also worth a good amount of rupees

Doing the initial shrine stuff and just having a blast exploring. Gonna marathon this motherfucker all weekend.

Only downside has been experiencing some of the left Joycon issue occasionally that will cause Link to plunge to his death when I'm around ledges and shit.

The only thing that annoys me about weapon durability is it doesn't auto switch to your next weapon after one breaks or you throw it. I dislike having to take my left thumb off the movement stick just to switch weapons. If it was L1 or something it'd be better.
