I'm really enjoying the game, not "best game ever" (yet) kind of fun, but is really, really well done.

Best thing? Removing marks, icons and shit on the map. It truly feels like I'm exploring a world, insted of just filling bars and running to icons on maps.

I bought it digitally and it the update was added to my download queue automatically. For physical I believe it prompts you to download the update when you put the disc in, and you do this outside the eshop. There is no seperate download in the eshop so I assume that's what will happen. Same thing with smash bros.

Excellent! Thanks for the answer! As long as it doesn't ask me to go and download it manually on the eshop then I'm good! Wii U version will be now, thanks!

The only thing that annoys me about weapon durability is it doesn't auto switch to your next weapon after one breaks or you throw it. I dislike having to take my left thumb off the movement stick just to switch weapons. If it was L1 or something it'd be better.

Yeah. Minor gripe too, but I keep forgetting that right on the d-pad is for weapons and left is for shields. They should've made it the opposite to be consistent with the face buttons, since you use Y to attack and A for shield parrying/surfing.

any one plays it on the Wii u ?? is it playable ?? how are the frame rate ?

Playing it on Wii U, it's fine. Occasional frame drops, more frequent in villages, but it's perfectly playable and if, like me, you generally don't care about framerates, you'll barely notice it.

Well, the thousands of hours I have spent playing Souls games really helped me out w/ the out-of-nowhere
Stone Talus
. It got wrecked. very very fun

I tried it 3 times but then decided to flee. Not sure if this was a good idea. Stamped the position on the map tho for sweet revenge. lol

is there a way to equip bow besides going to inventory? If i have a melee weapon and i press ZR (wii u) to draw it doesn't automatically equip the bow, i have to go into inventory and equip it.

I'm a little tired so I won't give any impressions today. But I'll just say this.

The game has the best horse riding mechanic, ever. What a joy!

Crossposting from the Master Edition thread but I had to superglue my Master Sword statue... >_>

Keep ZR pressed and press the weapon select (dpad right)

game still hasn't clicked for me though..it's by no mens terrible
Probably when you will discover that what you just saw in tutorial area was just the tip of iceberg. Usually after 5 hours games tend to no surprise in their gameplay anymore but here... oh man, Nintendo just telling you "keep digging this is not the end" lol

I found a pretty easy way to make rupees quickly and early in the game...

In
Lurelin village, kind of near Hinato village, there's a dude with who you can gamble rupees, and if you choose the good chest while having gambled 100 rupees you get 300 rupees... Just save before betting, reload if you get the wrong chest lol

Tap right oo the d-pad while holding ZR.

that worked, thanks!

i love taking advantage of saves like this lol, can't wait to try!

So, it's been around 8 hours and I've still only collected less than 100 rupees in total. Am I missing something here, or are they just rare as hell?

I'm tired of the barrage of open world games on the other consoles.. I was looking forward to the traditionally more linear Nintendo games but now even Zeldas got to be open world.. blergh. But then the Reviews are very good so I don't know. Might try it first somwhere before I buy the switch + zelda.

So I just had a Moblin not be able to find his weapon, so he threw a Bokoblin at me...

This game is incredible.

10 hours in and barely made a dent

What did you think about the Witcher 3 reviews?
The few reviews I saw mentioned the performance being bad so I guess it was fair game. TW3 has one big advantage over Zelda though, it's world. While it might not be a sandbox like Zelda, the world in Witcher 3 is extremely pleasing to navigate through due to just how much character it has, the rabbit hole side quests etc. In Zelda you have a sandbox and a good one at that but it's a farcry from the "physics powerhouse" that some people claimed pre release since there are strict restrictions on what you can affect and can't. Then there is the world itself which is kind of barren, which results in environments (in the same region) looking kind of the same since there are little to no distinguishing features.

I guess what I am trying to say is that in case of Witcher 3 you could easily get lost in the world and it's lore even if you had issues with performance and yet people did mention that issue. Whereas in case of Zelda you could get lost in the sandbox but sandbox is directly tied to the gameplay which is affected by framerate and as such I cannot see why one would glaze over this issue since that sandbox is integral to what makes this game.

This game is Dark Souls as hell. I fucking love it!

Seriously. Its the perfect mix of those series which clearly were inspired by the original zelda. I am gushing over how amazing this game is. Not since Bloodborne have I felt this enthralled within a game world. This was exactly the kind of evolution I wanted from the series.

I just spent 30 minutes looking for an item I need for a side quest and couldn't find it. It wasn't a waste of time though as I managed to find quite a few koroks.

I really love how focused on exploration this game is.

For those who have it:

Is it better than Dark Souls?
Dark Souls is one of my favorite games and from what I've played (around 10 hours) BotW has nothing to envy it. Combat is much better than I expected, exploration is different (not worse or better, just different) and BotW adds a million things that DS lacks. It's too soon to say it's better, but it's on the right track. Plus, the Nintendo polish vs From's clunkyness really shines in a comparison.

Are you selling stuff? I sold a gem when I went to the first village and that got me 180 rupee. The item description didn't say anything about it being useful for anything other than getting a high price so I sold it.

Any tips for making a quick buck (or rather, getting rupees fast) I've sold some items (like the old shirt), but I'm kind of scared when it comes to selling off ore and stuff in case I need it for something later (perhaps crafting?)

Stuff like this is exactly why it's important to be able to save video... for the stuff you didn't see coming and wouldn't be able to duplicate if you tried.

I've just been selling ore. The only other times I've found money are when I opened a chest that had 300 rupees in it and when I defeated a
mimic
.

About an hour in, I'm loving the game but it's such a bastard to play with the JoyCon Grip. I need to find a Pro controller ASAP.

I've been playing it with the right and left Joycon in their respective hands and damn, it is conformable! I was leaning back with one arm behind my head at one point and I felt like a free man.

What is everyone's most satisfying battle so far? I was fighting a Bokoblin and he slammed me against a tree that had a bee's nest. The bees started chasing me and I led them to the Bokobo. Instant kill!

Not sure if this has been asked, but how do I jump and glide? I keep having problems with doing it consistently in that one shrine where you first have to do it. Anyone else got issues with it or am I doing something wrong?
