From a technical point of view, I think this game may be running at 60 fps underneath since some of the cutscenes are hitting 60 sporadically.

Alright I'm noticing very noticeable frame drops in some areas. PC gaming, what have you done to me?!

This is me but the game outside of that is so good, it's getting harder and harder to care. If Nintendo fixes it though, nothing will stop the game from being my favorite.

This game is really good.

Like really, really good.

I hope they fix the frame rate...

Is this game challenging?

Kind of. It rewards preparation and going into encounters with a game plan.

Very liberal checkpoint system though so it's not a big deal when you get wrecked a bunch.

Just wrapped up my first day playing. Several hours, equally divided between docked mode and handheld mode. So far I've managed 9 shrines and stumbled on and defeated a
stone golem mini boss
in the Great Plateau.

It's really starting to get its hooks in me. That allure to just wander of and see what you'll see is pretty special. Also, pushing your stamina bar to see just how far you can reach is surprisingly fun. Feels like a game that really wants you to shape your own adventure at your own pace, and I really admire that.

More of a Switch related point, but it's quite something when you can just pick up the hardware and carry on in bed with a game of this quality and scope.

Oh and yeah, it's a pretty tough game so far. Seen the Game Over screen plenty already!

Just wanted to also note I've put in about 10 hours so far and as far as what I've seen...

I still don't even have 20% of the map filled... I've been making serious headway too.

Something has been bugging me about the game, something I just couldn't put my finger on. And then suddenly I realized what the game is missing...

Malo!

Soooo uh. Where's the screenshot thread for this game lol. I already have way too many screenshots worth sharing.
Yeah, kinda weird. That said, that'd probably be my least visited GAF thread ever (cause I want to go into the game as fresh as possible.) I'm sure most would dig it, tho.

Just got to the first town. Holy shit this game is awesome.

I'm slightly disappointed by the Korok puzzles though, they seem to be largely variations on a handful of concepts, and once you know what to start looking for the puzzle itself is pretty easy. I haven't strayed too far from the main path though so they could just be easy since I'm early in the game.

Also, the Sheikah signal that beeps when you're near a shrine is super annoying. I turned it off immediately.

Other than that though this is a really good game.

Has anyone ran into the
Yiga clan?
I have ran into 2, one just a bit north of the great fairy, and one a bit after
entering the last line of the defence fort, she was female and looked to be cowering, but then she kepti saying she wanted, and needed(at this point I figured it was yiga) fried salmon(at which point i thought it was just a quest) but then also said she wanted to take my life(and back to yiga again)
I kinda really like this, especially since they drop rupees

Well look at that, I'm home for the weekend and my brother bought a Switch & BotW. It's a nice piece of hardware, and the game is looking really solid.

Ok, can someone give me some tips on
hunting boar?
I can't seem to find any and when I do they either get away or dont drop the ingredients I need. At this rate it'll take me ten hours of farming just to make what I need to advance the story.

Yeah, first one caught me off guard.. was like hello, how are you?

Then attacked me
.

dont know if its the same for everyone but the first one I ran into one asked if I wanted to
join the yiga clan
I almost wanted to say yes haha

I can sorta see that.

I got the Pro controller and love it but I've been playing the last few minutes with the Joycons separate in each hand and there's just something a bit neat about that.

Its one of the best things about the wiimote and nunchuck, but this time with even more freedom
With the added bonus that they arent running out of battery anytime soon

You can tell if it's one of them if they are just called 'traveler'. Every other NPC has a name.

Also the main story mission
has you going to their hideout

I'm sure this game is pretty epic and all, unfortunately I can't quite afford a Switch and Zelda right now to try it for myself but after watching gameplay videos of this and Horizon Zero Dawn I'm struggling to understand the massive Metacritic score gap between Horizons 88 and Zeldas 98.

98...I mean really? 2 points off what could be called a perfect game.

Seems a bit high to me and a little fishy but hey, that's the way the cookie has crumbled.

Can anyone tell me what the controls are to slide on your shield? Or is that an ability you get later?

Jump+Shield+A

Have you read the reviews and not just the scores?

Yeah, agreed! I like it a lot.

And uhm is it just me or does this game not have absolutely fucking superlative sound design? Like seriously it keeps distracting me how good it is.

How in the world do you mix ingredients? I went to one of those plates/dishes on a fire but all it lets you do is advance the passing of time (unless that's how you combine ingredients).

I had a horse and thought I tamed it but after going to the place for the story beyond Dueling Peaks it wandered off. I couldn't figure out how to get it in a stable either. Will have to go back and find out.

After you tame a horse, you need to register it at a stable.
You can only summon it at a stable.
If you leave your horse in the middle no nowhere it will stay forever until you summon it again from a stable.
