This game is so good it redefines Zelda forever.

I have become to detest open world games the last 5 years. This is such a fresh game it ups the bar for everyone. There is so much to explore and things to find.

As I posted earlier. This is the Zelda I have wanted since seeing Hyrule under water in Wind Waker.
It would be easy for me to say that this is the Zelda I have wanted since the series switched to 3D. In many ways, it is. But that undersells it. Not in my wildest dreams could I have imagined the scope or ambition of this. How the physics work, how dense the world is. How dynamically the AI behaves. How each system interacts. It almost seems impossible that this could have come from Nintendo.

I have a noob question.

I missed out on getting the coat from the old man in Great Plateau by making the recipe found in his little cabin. I didn't make the recipe until after I already visited the four shrines there and it never triggered the event that supposedly gives it to me. Is there still a way I can still get that or does it not matter if I end up getting better clothing to tackle the cold anyway?

I'm in a certain... village right now so I'm in the main open world.

Can't verify, but I hear the chest spawns anyway once you've received the paraglider.

I heard from others that if you missed the coat the first time, after you finish all the Shrines and he reveals the truth, you can just get the coat from his hut.

Don't know but you can buy a similar coat soon for a very good price. I wouldn't bother.

Can someone tell me where to get the
big leaf?
I've gotten to about 3 rafts and they've been useless without it.

I have a noob question.

I went to the highest hill in the area close to his cabin where it gets cold. There's some spicy peppers that I cooked with some food for resistance. I made it to the top of that hill and he gave me it.

Been chilling with Wolf Link lol. nice to have a companion in this hyrule. I need Epona though, Link amiibo is out of stock at amazon.

I feel the same. The scope is insane for a Nintendo game. They have never done this until now and they nailed it.

Is anyone playing with HUD mode at Pro?

I love the clean look but I think I'm going to miss that minimap eventually. I wish the HUD was dynamic. So that arrow counter and map show up only when I equip weaponry.

Just got my Switch this morning and I've finally put BOTW down after 5 and a half hours. What a joy to play. I died about 4 times at the start just out of stupidity but it never feels like you are punished for experimenting here. Battles have been a lot of fun so far. At first I was just going melee but as you get more options I've found myself switching between all the tools at my disposal.

I tried to roll a tree I chopped down onto some enemies but it just limply rolled down and they were left staring at this tree while I was left feeling dumb.

I've got to say enemy variety is by far the weakest point for me. There's only
2
models of non-unique world bosses (
stone talus and giants recolors
). It gets old very fast beating up
stone talus
.

Handheld mode definitely looks better than docked since my eyes aren't being assaulted by a lack of AA and it's more colorful.

I can't wait until I find cooler looking gear. Hooded Link is the best Link.

Just a question. How in the fuck are you supposed to deal with the big centaur? He kinda onehits you and its gnight. Aaand he takes like zero damage.

You'll get better cold clothing later, I wouldn't bother with that coat if you missed it already.

Guys,

If you found 5 rocks with holes in them arranged in a circle with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 smaller rocks on each respective one, what would you do? I've tried everything and I'm going crazy.

Shrine pedestal, west tetori area. Above the dragon bone mire

Seems like the cooking song changes when you make something really effective.

Raw Bird Drumstick
x3 +
Goat Butter
= Meat Skewer that recovers 9 hearts.

I can't stop being amazed by this game. Sometimes you're exploring and it's Xenoblade X, but then you fight some enemies and it becomes Dark Souls, then you enter a shrine and it's Portal, then you find a Korok puzzle and it becomes Batman, you get to Kakariko and it seems you're in Okami...but it never stops being Zelda while doing all of these things. 20+ hours in and I still have barely scratched the surface. This game is something else.

Man, the fairy close to
kakariko village
is like a float straight out of the Sydney Mardi Gras lol. Great design.

The art design is beautiful but on the TV things like the tall grass and flowers start to look like something out of Ocarina of Time as soon as they're more than about 10ft away from you, definitely looks a lot better on the handheld

I heard about it but no idea yet how.

Hmmm, then I'll just continue playing. Hopefully we find this out soon, would love a dog as companion. He did follow me a bit after eating the meat but never left his home area.

I also saw a deer but he keeps running away. We should be able to mount these?

I went back to the Great Plateau after exploring
Kakariko Village
and while exploring the old man Hut I noticed that his diary had an update... it was very touching T_T

Playing the Wii U version I had not troubles with performance except near the stables and the first settlement I reached... it's bad but not as bad as Blighttown of Havana (ACIV PS3 ver.) and I enjoyed doing some sidequests in there without much proble,

I need to make a thread about the Great Fairies of the series and why the one in Breath of the Wild is the best version of them all =3

I thought that too initially but I found myself hardly ever using the minimap so I ended up turning it off. I think the game looks much better without it.

So I'm about 3 hours into the game and still in the starting area. Enjoying the exploration aspect (damn the world is huge). I haven't felt the magic spark yet and want to reserve any good or bad judgement until I can experience more. It's insane how you can play for so long and still feel like you've barely scratched the surface of what the game has to offer.

This sad person on Skype keeps on spamming me because i am enjoying the game rofl.

Lol the game looks like trash graphics wise and thats the Switch version

Anti-aliasing isn’t a thing yet according to Nitendo
you seriously think that looks better than GTA IV?

GTA IV had some form of A/A
unlike this game

I’m talking about from a technical perspective
not style
Besides its unfair to compare this game to a 9 year old frame from 2 generations ago
GTA IV and The Last of Us (PS3) look better than Zelda
And those 2 games were from 2 generations ago

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C6FJjTNUoAAbWMy.jpg:large this jaggy low resolution "masterpiece"
vs http://www.gamepur.com/files/imagepicker/48/the-last-of-us-gameinformer-screenshot-1.jpg

This “world design” could be mistaken for a PS2 game
just a flat surface, stuff like vanilla WoW had 13 years ago

Compare this “world design” https://scontent-lga3-1.xx.fbcdn.ne...=558c45baf247513f2af26051a58820a9&oe=59279849

I know which world I consider a masterpiece out of the 2

Switch is a £280 Zelda machine
and Zelda itself cost £60 rofl
And the controller is trash apparently
so thats another £70 for the pro controller
So it cost £410 to play Zelda

jaggies everywhere!
And then a PS2 era mountain in the background

I noticed that. Creates a nice feeling of anticipation to see what culinary masterpiece you've concocted.

I haven't worked out how to create a meal which generates those bonus, temporary yellow hearts.

What a beautifully crafted world 😍
Everything is so richly detailed, when it rains everytning gets wet, the clouds cause shadows, everyone looks at you when they walk past you and I could go on and on for hours.

The actual graphics are great too, so many cool and modern effects.

Just a question. How in the fuck are you supposed to deal with the big centaur? He kinda onehits you and its gnight. Aaand he takes like zero damage.

Flurry Rush is really good,
Backflip one of the 3-4 slashes he does when he's standing still is an easy way to trigger it and allows you to get some hits in.
He hits like a truck and any Defense+ food helps.

Endura Shrooms should give that, I think.

Are you referencing the
dragons or the sand boss
? I'm talking about non-unique world bosses, or you're really telling me there more to life than
taluses and giants recolors
for non unique word bosses?

Have you encounter the big skeleton? I have a great fucking time with it

Loving this game, its really amazing.

I have a question though.

Possible spoiler, I ran into something during a thunder storm
When I was exploring during a thunder storm, I saw this huge never ending story mofo flying around all majestic like. I took a picture and it said it's name was Farosh. Anyone else see something like this, and know what your suppose to do about them. Is it just a random enemy or is there something specific your suppose to do with it?
If its a story spoiler don't tell me.

I played the game for about 5 hours last night, but I have to restart since I played it on my friend's Wii U (long story short I'm 5 hours away from mine, college)

I have to do it alllll over again but I don't mind, I'll definitely be more efficient the second time around. This game... I never really felt the need for a game to be super explorative, but this is exactly what I wanted out of mine craft when I first played it. Everything is intentional and it's so big! I love being able to explore.

its my first open world game 😅

I did flurry rush only once and I don't know how I did it. How does it work again?
