I wonder if you can get better armor against the guardians later. They pretty much oneshot you. Maybe a Mirror Shield or something. They're the bane of my existence. Not even the ninja assassin clan is this troublesome.

Somebody's cursed ;D

What if you really are though...

WHAT A HORRIBLE NIGHT TO HAVE A CURSE.

Oh man playing this in bed is soooooo good. I feel like a spoiled brat.

Do you guys know where can I find the hyrule shield in hyrule castle?

There are
some metals that indicate you can get a crafted suit of some kind.
Not figured it out myself yet.

I love those assassins.
Been laughing for most of the encounters as to how silly their excuse to get your attention is
.

Haha thanks. Good to know.
Make no mistake though the orbs are very important and they are a central mechanic of the game. It may not be the "only" objective but if you don't like the shrines you might want to temper your expectations a bit.

If you go around in links undies, people's dailogue changes so if you want a challenge and some entertainment try that.

Also, unless I'm getting lucky, breaking wild temperament horses is easy, you can do it at unupgraded stamina by rapidly tapping L when you mount them. Got a full black horse really easy. Would eventually like a full white one though, do they have those?

Haha, yeah, waving hands is a sure indicator.

So I have been playing in Pro mode for a bit and kinda forgot about the hud information and minimap. It's kinda nonessential to the game, because everything is spread out and the game doesn't bombard you with icons everywhere. I love it, it's so easy and free compared to Witcher 3 or Assassins creed.

Well then.

I love the shrines, was just hoping there was more to the game than them and thankfully I now know there is.

The best thing about Zeldas take on open-world gameplay is how it doesn't clutter the map with hundreds of icons of busywork. This way you really get to know the world and don't just traverse from icon to icon working through a virtual checklist.

Still miss the big dungeons and bosses a bit though. :(
I know there a some but not so many.

So what does v1.1.0 for the Wii u version do? Forgot I had a new router and my Wii u was offline lol. Been playing without the update. Although it did download an "update" from the disc when I first tried to at the game.

It's crazy how you get attached to your horse in this game. It was just a random horse at the beginning. The bond mechanic is so well. In what other game would I make the effort to feed my horse? lol

People saying this world is empty are insane. Never played a more interesting open world than this.

Yeah, I think what they want is more of a MMO enemy placement. This feels more realistic though.

This feels like how I felt when I played Wind Waker. This is like Wind Waker perfected.

I think it's kind of annoying that you're limited to 100 icons on the map given the expansiveness of the world. I've been putting icons on minerals and enemy camps with treasure chests constantly. The minerals probably won't ever respawn but you never know!

The people saying that either havent played it or are winding others up. This is a great open world, thing is exploration pays off rather than being hand-held to the destination.

I am a big fan of open world games and can already see this is one of the better ones and I'm only 10 hours in. After 100 it may take the top spot from RDR.

Yes, there's even a side quest to find one

Wind Waker never had anything worth discovering which was part of what made sailing so boring, this is miles better

The lack of music is going to stop this being a 10/10 game for me but it's not far off so far

Docked with pro controller. The game is a bad time in handheld mode imo... Small buttons and a long distance from right stick to buttons are a big part of it. Combine this with a screen that's just too small for this game and demanding gameplay and it's just too much
I played much longer last night than I intended to. Started in handheld mode because I wanted to test it out. I had no issues with the joycons. I think they actually play better in handheld mode than docked, because it is easier to maintain an awareness of their orientation when they are held in one position. Handheld leads to the same hand cramps I get from the DS though. You're forced to hold the thing at harsh angles. It's like wrapping your fingers around the corner of a box. Docked is a lot more comfortable in that way. I love the freedom that two independent controllers allow.

When I began, I only wanted to see how handheld mode looked and played. And it was pretty good! First thing I did was enable the Pro HUD. It looked beautiful. I took in the landscape. Some things were difficult to make out but it was still very impressive playing such a huge game in that form factor. I figured, why not look behind that rock. Then that mountain. Then locate the source of that smoke. Then clear out this enemy camp. Then figure out this old guy's recipe. Then, I see a handhold there, make it up this cliff side. I had to stop playing when the system gave me a low battery indicator. I intended only an hour or so and played for three straight. I was forced to dock it, and I headed upstairs to bed.

Made it about halfway up before changing my mind and diving into docked mode. I hadn't done any shrines yet—and shouldn't I try at least one? I wound up completing all four, another three hours down, and circled my path back to the resurrection shrine, which is when I realized I had completely skipped the intended introduction with the old man when I set out. The axe was still there. There was a baked apple for the taking. Realizing I could have missed something so obvious, I decided it would be good to make a second sweep of the plateau. I returned the snowy mountain as night fell. In the distance, for the first time, I noticed a shooting star. It faded as it approached the ground, and I thought, that's a beautiful touch. I went on. That's when I noticed a pillar of light appear in the distance, and smoke, and what looked like the glow of a crater. That was not just a shooting star—it was a meteor.

I ended the game there, seven hours strong, with a pin on my map, and an old man waiting for me at an invisible intersection to unveil more.

My only problems so far:
-The screenshot button is hard to find by touch, and was a hassle in a dark room (worse when playing docked)
-Magnesis controls are like the worst parts of Skyward Sword carried over (unless I'm missing something?)... there is no easy way to rotate objects or extend/retract the beam, which would make the ability a lot more fun to play with

Playing handheld does a disservice to the scale of the world. I have the Switch docked on a 60" TV, and I sit about four feet away. It's often breathtaking. Still, the ability to take this game with you is pretty damn cool.

I'm a little bummed I can't use headphones while docked. The TV I have the Switch attached to doesn't have a surround set up, and the built in speakers are weak. The audio is really great and using headphones in handheld mode provided a good sense of location. It's a shame to lose that for the bigger display.

I'm so glad Nintendo took the ambient approach to sound. In general the game does a nice job of queuing up tunes at appropriate moments, and then fades them out nicely. Reminds me of Minecraft in that way, another beautiful game.

Not any actual problems, but there are a handful of shrines where it forces you to switch to the gamepad for the gyro sensor.
I think I might have worked out the problem - I noticed at the end of my last play that the pro controller was linked as controller 2 with the gamepad as controller 1.

I haven't tested it and I don't know why it would only affect the keyboard.

How do you kill water based Octoroks? They always duck back down too fast.
I just throw bombs in the water and detonate them.

Has anyone else run into the magician with the fire rod?

The fireballs are bad enough but then when he uses the area of effect spell, dear lord. RUN FOR COVER!
Eventually I just stunned him with an arrow and then pummeled him to death. Staff is mine now but I'm afraid to use it.

Ice arrows kill him in a single hit.

I wish the Switch could record clips. I spent 10 minutes waiting for the rain to stop before climbing a mountain and then another few minutes getting to the top only to get headbutted off the top by a goat to my death the exact second I reached the top. Hahaha whyyyyy.

Video recording with the share button is a feature they're adding in a future firmware update. No date though.

The Easy Allies review mentioned they'd played something like 50 hours and were only 21% through.
Where do you see this percentage mark? I cant find anywhere that tells me.

For me this is the best Zelda game since Ocarina of Time.
This game is so good it redefines Zelda forever.

I have become to detest open world games the last 5 years. This is such a fresh game it ups the bar for everyone. There is so much to explore and things to find.

As I posted earlier. This is the Zelda I have wanted since seeing Hyrule under water in Wind Waker.

Where can I use Korok seeds after the inital meeting with the big guy? He talked about some woods. I have like 8 seeds and want to use them

Like many of you guys I've played a lot of games, spanning many console generations. We've seen some shit.

This game is something special.
