I'm not enjoying myself as much as I should be, maybe I'm playing the game wrong. I want to explore everything in the world, but I get tired when I explore too much and don't progress the story. Then, when I skip over areas to progress the story, I find myself not caring about the stuff in the overworld. I think the game is brilliantly designed, but for some reason it's just not clicking with me. I wonder if anyone else feels or felt this way.

Like with any game, don't burn yourself and don't feel forced. You can always come back later to do X stuff you didn't do. Open worlds games usually ask you to find your own pace.

Edit: my routine is simple
- advance story to a new map
- unlock tower in that new zone
- hoard everything I can see (kill camp, do shrines, loot)
- cook
- advance story
- explore each square of the map before moving on to story to see if I missed anything (so I activate the damn sensor at that moment lol)
- cook

How did I just see this thread? That title is perfect.

Anyway. Started my second playthrough last night. Loving it all over again.

Random question, but do you have to hold down the sprint button to keep running or is it like a toggle (press it once to activate, press it again to stop)?

you'll see another one on him you can shoot from the mountaintop while he's circling. After that, he'll fly down a bit, you can follow him by jumping into the air currents that will be flowing up from the mountain, it'll give a boost so you can get down to him again.

Can you be hurt by it if you get too close.

You will explore plenty by just doing the story.

Wait, what do you get with the season pass? I thought it was for content that's not out yet.

With the Season pass as soon it is redeemed it spawns 3 chests with useful items. Since it was officially announced, it is not a spoiler to say one has a Zelda T-Shirt for your character, but don't know what the other 2 contain. The 2nd DLC is Challenge Mode and the 3rd is more Story Missions/Campaign, but I have not read the details on it.

I was sneaking up on this goat, no way could he have heard me and he just out of the blue looks behind him and sees me. This has now happened with many deer as well, that's kinda BS.

How am I ever going to be able to mount a deer?

You can buy an expensive gear (sheikah set) in first village that will let sneak really easily toward animals or craft stealth potions (require frog and any monster parts)

I had a hunch, I didn't really think it could be done, but I had a hunch...

Has this been answered. I'm 4 hours in too. Would like to know the answer to this

Someone answered me a little bit ago. Apparently the 3 chests spawn in the Great Plateau so even if you redeem after you have played a while, they still appear. As I posted just a few minutes ago, I don't know what is in 2 of the chest, all I remember reading is that one has a T-Shirt for your character.

Okay, I'm at Zora's Domain now, just beat the
first guardian boss (where you have to use the shock arrows)
. The fight was pretty fun.

Seems like a good place to take a break, been playing whole day (also it's 1 AM here so I should get some sleep :-D). Continuing my journey in the morning, this game is fucking amazing!

I'm curious about the 7.7 score for users at Metacritic... Are people really disappointed or there're "troll reviews"? I read some users with 0-5 score and most of them have comments that doesn't make any sense, as if the user didn't really play the game...

Don't really care about numbers but it's a pretty significant difference between journalist reviews and users...

Sorry if this has been commented before I try not to read the whole thread because of possible spoilers...

I'm still like nowhere in this game -- only two shrines in, but right now it feels like maybe 60% Zelda 1, 30% Minecraft (or other similar survival games), and 10% Far Cry 2.

Never ever look or care about Metacritic user reviews, or user reviews on other sites for that matter unless it's something like Steam where you have to own the game

Troll reviews. There are almost 700 scores between 0-3.

Let me know which path you take to get there. I went from the north end of
Kakariko
and it was a ridiculously tough but awe inspiring detour lol.

That's the way I am planning to go, having seen the roadsign on the way to
Kakariko
(where I am at now preparing) so I will let ya know hehe.

Edit: now that I am eyeing the map, I might try a diff route

I have a question. Will I find items that don't break as the story progresses? As much as I'm loving this, the feeling of all my rewards breaking is kinda killing the mood.

This game is so comfy. Going inside a villagers home and then hearing the wind and rain outside gets me so cozy in real life lol.

Sometimes I find a fireplace by a nice view and just hang out there for en entire day / night cycle.

Definitely stock up on spicy dishes. You're gonna need it!

rain really fucks you up in this game

im trying to bring fire to a goddamn place but its raining every 30secs just to piss me off

oh yeah theres also the lightning
that will fucking ohko you if youre using anything with metal

it also makes climbing also almost impossible

and it kills the framerate too

fuck rain

Got to the
desert
last night and think it's my favorite area so far visually, just stunning. The way the geography is laid out, with the
desert storm cloud obscuring the divine beast showing you snippets of its form gives me serious castle in the sky/howls moving castle vibes, all thrown into a SOTC type stew with the barren landscape. Fantastic visual design in this region.

So where should i head now? I cant go up to the temple that is at Mt Doom since me and my gear just burns up when i try to go up there. Done Vah Ruta and like 20+ shrines now so.

Just got to
Impa
and I'm really hoping Nintendo patches in the option to switch the dub language. This English dub is terrible.

This game is seriously fun, I can't remember the last time I actually enjoyed exploring an open world game.

Just wish the frame rate didn't tank while docked.

I accidentally walked into a bokoblin camp. I didn't feel like fighting them so I ran away. But as they chased me, I ran into a traveling merchant on the road who got frightened by them. Feeling guilty for causing trouble for the merchant, I killed the bokoblins. But then the merchant rewarded me with some food as thanks. Almost feels like a scam.
