So I was in the snowy area and now kinda heading towards the volcano, aka eldin, and I kinda crossed this swampy bridge and all of a sudden...darkness, now I remember talking to a NPC at a stable or somewhere about a ruins thats dark no matter the time of day, but I didnt expect to run into it......well...wish me luck D:
 
Is there a way to craft weapons? Or a way to repair weapons that I have?

I absolutely love this game but having weapons that only last a few fights is incredibly frustrating.
 
Question regarding photos, spoiler tagging in case:
In order to add something to the Compendium, do you need to save the image? Deleting the image after seems to keep the entry, but it's a bit annoying to have to save then delete each time.
 
Can someone remind me what the
followers
of Calamity Ganon are called? An NPC told me...which came up in another conversation with an NPC who then proceeded to
transform into an assassin and try to kill me.
 
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm having an extremely hard time actually enjoying this game. I'm not far at all, to be fair (I'm on my way to Kakariko Village), but I feel like I'm missing something. I just keep finding Monlin encampments, destroying them, and moving on.

Also, I *hate* that Link doesn't automatically switch to another weapon when one breaks!
 
There's something immensely comforting knowing Zoras
will always have the same song for their village.

I got to Zora's Domain and let out of nice sigh at how peaceful and familiar it all was. The last few hours were more like Skyrim than Zelda, for me, and Zora's Domain brought me right back to it being a Zelda game.

They really struck a nice balance between the familiar and going completely all out new.

I have yet to find one. However, the later game weapons actually last a decent amount of time.
 
Finished "that one motion control shrine" and honestly didn't find it that bad. At least using the Wii U gamepad. Maybe I just played with too many of those wooden labyrinth toys when I was little, I found the tiny tilts and movements really intuitive and almost zen-like. The only thing that was annoying/unfair about it was the very end.

Also, does anyone else feel like they're missing out when exploring on horseback? I like being able to traverse quickly on horseback but I feel like I'm just glossing over all the nooks and crannies (and potential Korok puzzles) when exploring a place for the first time.
 
I've just started to grasp that some enemy drops work like items. I was thinking that my weapons and runes were the only way to interact with the world, but NOPE. This game is phenomenal.

Yep, I'd be awesome with a 2D or ALBW style one that is mainly meant to be used on the handheld component. In fact the hybrid nature of this system is tailor made for different kinds of games.

I love how easy it is to get completely and totally distracted in this game
"Okay, beat the water temple, now I should really get back to finding that village where the scientist can upgrade my thing"
"WAIT, is that lake named Saria!? And that hill Makar!? I know what's there, oh my god"
>2 hours later and I'm knee deep in the Lost Woods trials and I still haven't upgraded my thing

Same here. I dropped my best sword into a pit because of how easy it is to throw weapons. And the fact that Run and Jump are directly across from one another makes it impossible for me to consistently run and jump off of a cliff and glide quickly enough to clear certain gaps. It's really frustrating.

Not to mention the fact that I'm more used to Xbox button layouts, and I still find myself hitting the wrong buttons from time to time because of the button prompts.

I've seen an orange and white horse that was essentially identical to Epona in the wild. But to get a "true" Epona™ you need to amiibo

And it's not even a sure thing. I've scanned it twice and gotten no Epona.
 
About to take on my first
dungeon (geurdo valley beast?)
...I have five hearts. Should I take on more shrines and get even more? Am I on the right path?
 
Anyone know what happens if you switch the Switch to 720p? Does it still render at 900p (i.e. with framedrops) and downscale, or does it render at 720p?

I'll run this experiment myself Monday when my Switch arrives, unless it doesn't work, in which case...
 
I have a quick question: On my way out of an early game village, I defeated some mini-boss called
lake purifier something
, and while it took a few arrows and sword slashes, it wet down pretty easy.

Then, some minotaur bastard came up behind me and destroyed me in three hits. Upon reloading, there was nothing on the ground for me to pick up from the miniboss, and he wasn't there anymore. Did I miss out on anything good?

And that's the nice thing about this game. I see something that looks weird, I don't just charge in like I would in most games. I have to be careful. This is what I've been asking for in games for so long and few (outside of Fromsoft) have provided it
 
Lol so I've only just left the plateau (finally) and ended up in the southern parts. I just found my first stable and every so often this npc will try and make her way elsewhere and she'll always get mobbed by these blue rider bokoblins and return running back to the stable. I dunno why but it's hilarious to me and really neat at the same time.

Meanwhile I did get a sidequest to hunt those bokoblins but I know I'm way too weak to help out. Maybe down the line I do get rid of them the npc will actually travel elsewhere hahaha

To me it becomes less of a hassle, but you will be cycling out weapons regularly. Too me it has become less of a burden and there is a way to increase weapon, shield, and bow inventory space.
 
I'm super early in the game. Just finished the third
shrine to get the glider
.

It's really crazy. I haven't felt like this in a Zelda before. I'm just thinking of different ways to get to shrines and when I get to one, it doesn't feel like I figured out "the" way. It's an interesting feeling.

The tools so far are all super unique and fun.

My one complaint is the durability. Someone spoil this for me: does it get more manageable? It's more of a pain than it is challenging or rewarding.
 
So I beat a dungeon and

Is the reward permanent? How does this work? This says it respawns me with full hearts and a boost, is it one time use? Does it have a timer?

I would've agreed with you if decent or good weapons were rare but they're NOT rare at all. If I need weapons of my level-zone, I just go kill some enemies in the wild, that's it, lol

Hm, I suppose finding a high stat unicolor horse and naming her Epona would do the trick. Still hurts she isn't there though :(
 
Speaking of amiibo, I wonder what scanning Smash Ganondorf would do. I should try. Away from people. I kind of hope it spawns a group of monsters on me, because, really. What else would you expect?

Also, I need to find some Ancient Cores. I read the small hint book you can get off MyNintendo, and it told me what the Stasis run upgrade does:
"Stasis+ can now freeze enemies!"
I want. I want a lot!

Yeah I've already stumbled on this. I was hoping that high level weapons would have much better durability or that you could find an amulet that bestows infinite durability or something

It dropped a bunch of barrels with rupees in them for me. Not even like a lot. Maybe 20 at best. And a chest with random loot.

The amiibo has worked for me and two of my friends on the first try, surprised to hear it doesn't for others. I actually waited until the point where you're introduced to wild horses, and the stable guy told me I couldn't rename my horse since it was the legendary Epona.
 
The entire trail leading up to, as well as in, the Z
ora Domain
with the nonstop rain has never gone above 20fps on wiiu.

I swear on my life. 30+min straight of a constant 20fps or lower.

This has got to be the worst framerate Nintendo has put out in a long ass time.

Yep, and I feel this is the mark of how good a job they've done designing the world. Usually I'm all for speeding towards wherever I think the best loot will be, but in this case it can be anywhere.
