15 hours in and I just got to kakariko village. The musi, the NPCs, the design. This town feels alive, yet so far away from where I began my journey. A thriving village nestled in the mountains like OoT wanted me to believe but couldn't because of hardware limitations that made it feel like it was a 2 minute walk away from Hyrule castle (it was).

This could have just called this game GOAT Simulator 2017

Do the breakable weapons ever get less annoying? It feels like a weapon is breaking every five minutes, really makes me not want to use my better weapons.

yeah when we only had the trailer I was willing to give the game the benefit of the doubt on voice acting. But every scene I've seen with voice acting I actually feel the voice acting quality is ruining the experience. Zelda is particularly bad, but the Zora girl mother of god she has her beat.

It's by no means horrible compared to other titles, but in a world where so many games are doing an above average job here comes this subpar VA from a AAA title and studio it's off putting. Hopefully Nintendo takes this as a learning experience.

There's another shrine near by. They both compliment what the order is supposed to be. When you first go in, do NOT touch the puzzle. Go up the platform, take a picture (or screenshot) and reference the pattern to the other shrine. Visa versa.

Hope that makes sense.
Thanks, got to the other shrine just now. Ugh, I wasted so much time looking at the walls seeing if there was a clue there, lol.

I hated it at first, but got used to it. You'll get more durable weapons, just use the low level stuff to kill low level enemies. Eventually you'll be fully shocked with more powerful stuff for the most part.

Reviewers were absolutely not bullshitting about how big this game is. I'm at least 20 hours in and I haven't done any of the 'dungeons' yet. I found one, but got stumped on a puzzle and bailed before finishing.

This game is the cure to my open world fatigue. It's just so damn fun to explore.

what should I sell and what should I keep for crafting?

How do you manage your arrows, I keep running out

I would sell common monster parts, like horns and fans, wings and eyeballs.
For arrows, get a disposable shield and protect with it when an enemy shots arrows at you. When you lower your guard, the arrows will be place in your bag.

It bothers me, hence why I'm also doing everything I can to go get the
master sword
. I hear there's another
unbreakable weapon
but I wouldn't know. I'll be sure to find it asap too lol

Hm, which armor sets give set bonuses? I upgraded the Royal Guard set cause I assumed it would have some sort of bonus..but it's at level two right now and I don't see a difference.

Bummer.

Ok, can somebody help me out me out with in the Pushing Power/giant rolling ball shrine in
Zoras Domain?

Push behind the ball with the Cryonis rune, the ball will roll down and stop, push it from below to get it up top and then start running all the way to the bottom. If you can, put a ice block in it's way if you're not fast enough. If you do get down there quick enough, change your rune into Stasis and wait for it to get to the dry part and stop it then and there. Hit it 2 times towards the hole and it will get in if you aimed at it correctly. Hope that helps!

From the comparison video showing all of the different dubs, most sounded more interesting than English. I know I read one poster here say that the German dub was fantastic...

Please Nintendo, give us all of the languages. In reality we'll be lucky if they sell us just Japanese. I'm serious though, in curious about playing it in all of the dubs, sounds interesting.

I'm sure it's been mentioned a bunch of times in this topic already, but english Zelda is...pretty rough at times.

After finishing the game, can i still roam around and complete side missions, shrines, photos and all the fancy stuff i may have missed? how does botw handle this?

what is "missable"?

Got it, thanks!

Also is there seriously no Zora clothes?!

Here is a fun fact, don't try using bomb arrows while you're exploring high heat environments, the heat causes them to explode before you can even finish drawing the string all the way back.

I learned this the very very very hard way.

I love this game so much.

Is there a way to easily get uncompressed photos off of the Switch? I don't want to have to go through social media.

I learned the opposite while it was raining, also in a very hard way.

Switched my gear around a bit for more defense and finally beat this first boss at the
Vah Ruta
Divine Beast. If you're getting one-shotted by him like me, switch the
Zora
Armor out for the Champion's Tunic.

Eh. First foray into voice acting for the series. It's not amazaballs but it's also not bad either. Kind of surprised it's good enough for their first go.

I flew around the death mountain area with no propper protection, just chugging healing to try and get to a tower, and my bow just burned off my back.

You know, if you're that upset that people walk over your flowers, maybe don't plant them to form a labyrinth!? They are supposed to be scenery, not obstacles. Stupid lady.

I really feel like this game takes bits and pieces from each previous 3D zelda. Really just loving everything going on with this game right now.

I really like how this game gives a lot of those zelda dungeon feels, but in small bites. I can go from solving puzzles to getting into different combat scenarios in a matter of minutes. Then be off solving one of the tons of sidequests.

Also really loving that every NPC i have ran into has been unique has either made me laugh or given me useful tidbits.

This fucking game.

There are so many moments that make me think this.

That sucks that her voice acting is as bad as it seemed in the trailer. She's kind of the most important character (note, I haven't okayed the game yet but, come on), so meeting up her VA doesn't start us off well for the series first real attempt at it. (Though I guess the VA is still better than the CDi games.. Wait it is, isn't it??)

Edit:

Hmm, guess I'll just have to see for myself. As cliché as this sounds, I already know I'd prefer Japanese VA though. Hoping for an undub hack to become available someday, don't mind having the Wii U one of these days.

To be honest though, I can't see why a series's first attempt at voice acting gives them a by in this situation. It's freakin' Zelda, Nintendo should've spared no expense to at least match its other titles like the Xenoblade or Fire Emblem series.

Could you be a bit more specific with regard to the clothes? I can't find any that protect from heat.

i'm not entirely certain but i think a desert might be a good place to look. But i haven't actually tested this yet because I'm still faffing around so i haven't actually gone into death mountain yet

In some ways this game is kind of what I wished reboot Tomb Raider had been.

I didn't like TR2013 because it felt too generic and just YouTubed a run of ROTR. For starters I always thought if you wanted to do an open-world Tomb Radier -- a game about raiding tombs, that the best way would be a Zelda-like structure where you explore and bounce between investigating ruins and fighting enemies. But BOTW seems to have borrowed just the right amount of survival game elements to enhance an action adventure game like this. Ironically reboot TR bills itself as a survival game, but its survival elements like crafting and hunting are just rebrands of the same crafting and XP skinner box as a bunch of other games. Basically what I'm saying is new TR needed to have a more reactive, more open-ended world as well as a bigger focus on the actual tombs.

Anyone know where the shrine is near the
peak of Awakening
? I've been tooling around the cliff for a while and I feel like the indicator is lead me in circles. I already did the one that you unlocked by
shooting tht statue eye
nearby, so it's not that one.
