Wow that water shrine near the beginning of the game is just awful. Finally beat it but what a royal pain in the ass Jesus. Haven't been this frustrated with a game since bloodborne.

LMAO the game decides to have a tutorial for dodging...15 hours in to the game. Like, if you're gonna have a tutorial for that have it in the opening section. Who wouldn't have figured out how to dodge by the time they get to this specific shrine? Even if this is the first place you head to after the plateau, come on. You still would have figured that out by then. Felt so random.

I suck at dodging. I just can't do it, even against low end moblins.

I probably can't parry either, but I never get the opportunity to try as the game only throws 2-handed weapons at me. I think I still have the same couple shields from the start of the game.

Made a couple of comparisons to the 2014 build:

Wait, I thought this game was revealed last year at e3? I thought the only thing before that were some bullshit concept footages...

Rhoam tells you to go there. It's great that you were able to chart your own course but the way the game tells you to go that would be your next stop after the great plateau.

Does anyone else feel this game is a tad overrated?

It's been ten hours and I've just been doing shrine after shrine.

Pros:
Cooking sound is so satisfying
Villages and NPCs are so creatively done.
Sound is top notch.
Combat

Cons:
Lots of Downtime,
Shrines are super same-ey
Feels like Ubisoft Open World with Towers unlocking the maps
Side quests have been fetch X things, or kill
Weapons Breaking too often

Don't get me wrong, the game is fun, but not 10/10 fun.

Personally no, I don't feel it's overrated for these reasons. I think the performance is a bigger deal than people are making it out to be, but here I am having a blast with it so.

I am not tackling shrine after shrine though. Like people who hunted down every "?" In the witcher 3, I think it's best to avoid map clearing. Just wander around and log where you want, not just where you see a shrine.

Zelda is legit the worst voice acted character I have ever heard in a game, bar none. Takes me completely out of every single scene she is in. I hate it.

Motion controls are activated by default. So aiming and firing arrows can be difficult if you aren't also considering that the movement of your controller is impacting it.

I turned them off.

The aiming feels like it's a massive judder. Not just with the bow, the overall. Even to mark a shrine with the Shikra Compass.

They first showed BotW at E3 2014 with that guardian chase, then at the Game Awards in Dec 2014 they showed it in playable form and the game was set for a 2015 release before the delay. The map is largely the same as the map they showed in 2014.

Looks like they really were on track for a 2015 release before the delay and they spent 2 years on details.

Man it's been a long time since I've played a game that gave me that feeling of "just go see what's over there" type of feeling...the organic nature of discovering things and the following encounters are blowing me away.

People really need to drop the whole "ubisoft towers" thing, all it does is give you an outline of the area and a few key named locations filled in. There's still plenty of places that don't get added in each region until you get there yourself and the towers don't reveal things like sidequests

What

I never saw this and I've been devouring Zelda news since this game was announced.

I need to dig into this

I've almost played 25 hours and only have done 1 divine beast. This game is.... large.

Had a run in with 2 fully functional guardians, how in all that is holy do you win that?

I'm enjoy the game so far but I can't believe in such a vast world we don't even have
underwater adventures
, it was one of my favorite aspects of Twilight Princess. I honestly don't understand why it was possible, would have been so great. Also the lack of
Hookshot
just hurts me, it is my favorite tool.

on wii U, if my brother wants his own save. what do I need to do?

make him a user account?

I dont want to lose my 15+h progress because of this lol

which shrine/quest is this?

It's near Hateno Village. The Rito bard dude is on a spire in the bay. You get the quest from him. Might have to do another shrine quest with him though. That was the second time I saw him.

Actually I don't think it's a shrine on second thought. The quest is called Hero's Cache.

Yup.
The journey there was fun, some exciting encounters and just great environmental design. But then when I first saw Zora's Domain in the distance...man, that was something special. So unbelievably pretty, and then getting closer going over that bridge to enter it with the music starting to fade in...

I don't know how the game does it, but there's something about the atmosphere here that makes moments like these feel magical.
Seriously when I die, I wanna go to this world lol. It used to be destiny islands from kingom hearts but this place is so dreamy and comfortable.

I don't think the ubisoft comparison is fair at all

It's not like towers populate the map with icons or anything. it's just like cartography and a decent viewpoint to mark things to see

I also disagree with the downtime and weapon breaking, but that's a matter of opinion i guess

I waited half a day for the clock to hit 5pm for a shadow to cast that leads to a shrine. At 4:30 it started raining smh

Just a hint, because it annoyed the hell out of me, if it's the "17 of 24" quest, it's not talking about 5pm as in the time.

(better solution hint)
Think of it as "5 of 12" on a clock face with the rock pillar as the centre..

It's still *pretty far* out there for a tutorial shrine, you're gonna have a lot of combat situations on your way to Kakariko. I got there in about 5 hours and I went there pretty straightforward, doing some minor exploration on the way.

Nope, easily met my expectations and can easily see it become a top favorite of mine. Downtime? I've had plenty to do and having a lot of fun whatever I end up doing. Shrines are great, mini dungeons with a bunch different style of puzzles. Towers are actually handled really well as each one has its own challenge to ascend it whether it be a puzzle to reach it or it might be guarded by enemies. Side quests are great so far, maybe not the most original but the npcs have a lot charm which makes them enjoyable. Weapon system requires you to constantly adapt to the situation, also weapons are in no short supply.

10/10 for me.

Theres literally no downtime in this game. Not once was I just, oh this downtime. And the towers are fine? They dont takeaway or add anything whats the complaint for those again?

That's the one. If that's the case 17 of 24 is kind of a dick hint haha

I think some people just see all towers as Ubisoft towers, where you climb them and then it shows you a billion little collectables instead of how they actually are in the game where it just gives you a regions topography and a nice vantage point.

I know right! Especially when the game has a 24 hour day/night and shows you the current time in the 24hr format! I get it they wanted to have a classic clock riddle but, c'mon, don't use a 24hr format when you're talking about an analogue clock face. Clocks are 12hr.

Omg, just got the
white
horse and it's awesome!
It has 5 in stamina and the old man who wanted me to catch it gave me a royal saddle. It's Zelda's horse! When you ride it you can hear the original Zelda theme played on violin!
The one from
OoT
? That is pretty cool. This should teach me not to click on every spoiler.

I'm on conplete blackout. I hear the game had/had docked fps drops? Does the day one patch fix this? If not is one coming? Has it been addressed?

So I'm doing the
"Find the Fairy Fountain"
quest in the 1st village.
I can't seem to find Pikango to finish the quest, he isn't in front of Impa's house or anywhere in the village as far as I can see, does anyone know where he is?

Pro Tips w/o story spoilers:

5 banana recipe is OP as fuck in hard fights

Moblins can't swim. Lead them to water and smack them in with heavy weapons and it's an instant win.

North east part of the map has hella crafting materials including diamonds. All of the rupees you will ever need are here

So I'm doing the
"Find the Fairy Fountain"
quest in the 1st village.

Where you left him. Resting by the entrance of the path.

Does anyone else feel this game is a tad overrated?

Nope, despite my fears of "open world fatigue" it is the legit best open world game I've played, emphasis on the open world part. Even the 100+ shrines, which I thought would be more of a quantity over quality thing, seems to be something I was incorrect about as well.

People are dumb then. They literally dont do jack except show you more of the area on the map

Where on the map is the person I can exchange Korok seeds with? I met the first guy, but forgot where he told me to go.
