Climbed up a mountain, and I see a frog statue next to a rock. No idea if it's important, or how to "activate" it, assuming there is something to activate.

I'm going to risk getting shat on and just ask this,
WiiU version fine? I heard there's some issues, but mostly trivial right?
I just want to know I'm not shorting my experience by not waiting for switch.

It hasn't impeded my enjoyment in the slightest about 15+ hours in.

i just climbed up a big flagpole. I'm really high up, guys.

there's a shrine over here but the enemies next to it are really strong, they kill me in one hit. i guess maybe I'll just sneak around them. i don't think I'm supposed to be here, I've only upgraded one heart and one stamina circle. loving this game.

Lots of questions, not many replies. Can't change anyone, though, because I don't know any answers! Heh.

My question: Does
a great fairy
each only upgrade a single piece of armor, or will they upgrade as many for which I have the materials? I don't want to waste a very limited opportunity on basic junk.

You can upgrade as many pieces as you want provided you have the materials, but only one time per piece
until you find more great faries.
, which lets you upgrade a items multiple times.

I finally have the problem where all my weapons are too good and I run away from low level enemies and/or bomb them since I don't want to waste my sweet gear on them.

I need to find more koroks.

I haven't yet had enough stamina to get to the top of one of those flagpoles

The lock-on jump to the side feels so limp, it almost feels like I'm doing it wrong. There's no special way to perform a side wards dive ala Souls games, right?

been having a blast with the Wii U version so far

did a dungeon
activated all the towers
upgraded my stuff
soaked in a metric ton of atmosphere
went to Hyrule Castle for some loot and did a clean getaway
Even-fucking-tide Island

this game don't stop

A single great fairy can upgrade multiple pieces of armor, but those upgrades are limited to the number of great fairies you have found within the world. For instance, I've found three great fairies, and I am able to upgrade some of my clothing to the third star rank.

I believe this is how it works, and in explaining this I am realizing how cool it is that we have to collectively figure out something as simple as the armor upgrading mechanic. I love how much the game withholds--so much mystery

So I found my first minigame in this game today:
At the bottom of the deep canyon near where the Ritos are there is a Goron who runs a mini-golf course that involves your stasis rune.

I wonder how many other minigames there are.

So I hadn't looked into amiibo support at all and was showing the game to my friend. Good thing he told me about Epona. I warped to a stable and used my smash bros link.

Is it true that the first, and only the first, time you scan him you get epona?? Crazy!

anyone?

Alright, probably spent around 20 hours the past two days playing this (something I haven't done in a long time) and still loving it. Been trying to go all over Hyrule, so haven't really made much progress mission wise
got 20 shock arrows and took off from that mission

Finding that having a good supply of stamina potions is really beneficial
restless crickets + enemy spoils (more spoils for more stamina, go between 2-4)
. Also been making sure to do a lot of cooking she I'm able to.

Really like the fast travel system, makes exploration always have a purpose and really like climbing to see where I want to go next, then paragliding towards it and finding a way.

The towers have so far been pretty interesting.
Like that they have been solvable environmental puzzles and not just climbing.

Might go back to questing, progress the story a little more.

Wondering if anybody has seen (possible weather/environment spoiler)
a falling star? Spotted one and saw where it landed and it created a light pillar. Tried to go over there and got destroyed. When I continued the light pillar was gone.
I will say scale depending of number of heart (maybe?) I'm starting to see dark pigs and bokolins, lol
Pretty sure they aren't. I've only got four hearts and am running into all sorts of random things. Seems they are all based on environment, as I run into blue guys that take me down all the time.

I've found three mini games so far.
A gliding course hosted by a Rito on an island, A Zelda 1 style money making game in a town, and a deer hunting challenge in another town.

I have the Wii U version... There is noticeable frame drops and the control mapping is weird but they aren't major at all.

The game's atmosphere and just general gameplay is fan fucking tastic. You would do yourself a major disservice to overlook this Zelda.

Dude, this is also the first minigame I've found! The best thing about it, who would search there for a minigame?!

The
Vah Naboris divine beast
dungeon is such a pain in the butt. Literally doesn't make any sense. I don't want to do this area anymore.

Are the other
three
dungeons similar in design?
Do you have to rotate them as well? Because if so, then ugh.

anyone?

Not sure if anyone has talked about it, but the sequence right before entering the Zora dungeon might be my favorite in any Zelda. lt's such a brilliant mix of mechanics that feel so good to execute and look so spectacular. l fucking love this game.

oh good it's a modest test of strength. perfect.

That one was quite an experience for me.

Correct. No side roll, and the area you cover is much smaller/more sensitive to hitboxes in my experience. I've dodged swings only to get hit by a back swing, for example.

I have 25 hours and I just got to Kakariko town. This game is so good. The sense of adventure is something I haven't felt in a game since... Skyward Sword maybe?

That part was really awesome
. A nice reward after the mediocre lead up to it.

Discovering my first town,
Hateno Village
, was genuinely one of the best experiences I've ever had in a video game. The way the music is heard off in the distance and increases in volume as you approach is absolutely phenomenal, and the town itself is literally everything I could have hoped for in a Zelda game. Such a magical moment.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting something like this in the game. A really great setpiece.

No spoilers please.

How long was it, how many hours, for you before you got to your first "dungeon"? Not shrines, you know what I'm talking about. I'm almost 15 hours in and I haven't done a single one yet, haha.

Took me around 20 or so.

The difference between Souls and this is that you have no i-Frames. That's why it feels weird. You have to approach melee combat completely different as a result.

Agreed! Did you approach on foot or via paraglider?

It depends on when you decide to go to one.

How do you even know how many hours you have played.

Took me about 20+ hours as well, every time I tried to go there, I'd just get sidetracked. I finally did it today though!

I have seen one up close (the camel one) but have yet to enter a single dungeon. And I've been playing 30 hours. I even have yet to get back to Impa lol.

No you can get Epona plenty of times, it's just random. Epona is one of many things Smash Link will give you. I've gotten it like 3 times already, first time I got it was on the plateau.

I did one after 20 hours only because I accidentaly came accross
Rito Village
while exploring the edges of the map. Would have otherwise just went on not doing them.
