NY Times said:
Preet Bharara, the Manhattan federal prosecutor who was told to submit his resignation along with 45 others on Friday, has no plans to do so — forcing a potential showdown with President Trump and the Department of Justice.

Mr. Bharara, whose office is overseeing a case against a top aide to Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo and an investigation into people close to Mayor Bill de Blasio of New York City, has told several people that he did not hand in a resignation on Friday, as he was ordered to do by the acting deputy attorney general, Dana Boente.

He also does not intend to do so over the weekend, he said in conversations with associates, a move that could force the hand of the Trump administration.

Forcing Trump to fire him, I guess?

Update:

Preet Bharara is awesome and has the best name ever. Glad to see him holding his ground. I see him going places in the future.

I didn't really understand immediately firing that many people. Seems like it would be a shit show with their ongoing cases
They haven't replaced nearly anyone they've purged from various departments. This is a dismantling of government.

Dude in the middle of investigating Cuomo. By firing someone in the middle of potentially taking down a powerful Democratic governor Trump is showing himself to either be
1) Mixed up in Cuomo's shady shit or
2) an incompetent jackass

Seems pretty reasonable to me, considering how poorly the entire situation was handled. Hopefully something comes from Trump inevitably firing him.

As unfortunate and unseemly as the last few months have been, they've done a lot to remind people why we need lawyers and journals with principle.

This won't end any differently than it did for Yates. He'll be fired by the end of the day. Congress will undoubtedly call both in to testify at the impeachment.

This guy has a helluva rap sheet taking down criminal financial wrongdoings. He's probably the worst guy for Trump to mess with right now.

That's a great and brave thing to do. This kind of professional resistance, if amplified, could cripple the Trump presidency.

Any chance any of the other 40 something other attorneys will join him?

Which is why it's super smart to force Trump's hand. Great move.

If his office is currently investigating Trump himself, this is a Saturday Night Massacre situation in the making.

This isn't Nixon firing people over Watergate. The 93 us attorneys are appointed by the president with the understanding that they'll leave when a new president wants them to. Half of the 93 left already on their own and the rest are being asked to now.

It isn't the whole office being replaced. Just the head of it. Think of it like when Fred Thompson replaced Dianne Weisst who replaced Adam Schiff as jack McCoys boss on law and order, although that was a county da as opposed to a federal one

How so? What's the advantage?
The way I understand it.. Since his work is specifically related to Russia/Trump ties, it may draw more attention to the scandal in general?

And bring attention to the poor manner in which these firings were executed?

The context and timing seem totally relevant here. It's not about just refusing simply because it's Trump.

Good I guess? But I'm not sure why this guy thinks he's untouchable compared to the other appointed lawyers that were asked to resign since it's a new administration.

He doesn't. It's a message thing. The same way Yates was fired and then was revealed she tried to warn the administration about Flynn

Yes, he's firing everyone. That doesn't change the fact that firing a guy who's investigating you has pretty much the worst optics available in politics outside of a sex scandal.

Maybe because he was told by Flynn and Trump that he was supposed to stay on.

What a fool to believe that.

The one specifically investigating trump was the NY state ag, not this guy

Was watching Maddow and she talked about this guy, well pretty sure it was this guy. He had a deal with Trump that he wouldn't be removed. That was back when Trump and Schumer were getting along. Apparently they no longer are so Trump may be rescinding the deal.

He is looking into the case of business owners against Trump. This was only filed recently. Explains the purging of the DoJ, getting rid of everyone to cover the fact of firing this man.

Good. Hope this results in a Streisand effect and Trump's foreign connections get even more scrutiny in the news.

Yeah, just skimmed a New YOrker profile on him. He's a bad motherfucker.

I know a few attorneys that Preet has taken out. My wife's firm had undercover clients recording but they were clean. Her and I were just discussing an attorney we were acquainted with and to this day we question whether or not he was an undercover agent. He tried real hard to befriend us, get info on our respective firms, kept bringing up the topic of law firms being raided and if we were worried about our employers firms etc... The week this attorney "quit his job" the Feds crashed his firm and arrested everyone for fraud charges. All his coworkers were in the charging documents, no charges for him. Never heard from that dude again after the raids.
