Has he really ruined his career though?

He hasn't ruined his career, but he has thrown his lot in with some not so great people. There could definitely be repercussions that effect his life in a negative manner in the not so distant future. We will have to see.

I know I don't watch his show anymore, and I used to love it. This stuff just makes me feel really sad. Every time I see him being shitty I remember the good times, when he was one of the funniest gamers on youtube. That just isn't the case anymore.

But, you know, I guess he feels really strongly about protecting white culture...

Just popping in to say instead of telling people to "Educate themselves" try to educate them. I know it can be like bashing your head against the wall sometimes, but by using that aggressive tone you can easily go from protagonist to antagonist, in terms of the argument and not the topic.

The aggression shows that you care, but it can make people stubborn and unwilling to move from their stance, even if you're ultimately right. Utilize patience and reason. Even if you can't convince who you're arguing against, maybe you can convince the observers.

Enjoy your day, everyone.

Why is Jon so worried about his standing/career? I thought selling out was a bad thing?? We don't need gadgets or an economy, the important thing is ensuring a future for white America and keeping the gene pool pure, right???

if you're talking about Warablo, multiple people did. if you're talking about pretty much anyone else, multiple people did. only so much you can do when they're directly ignoring posts in this thread.

What do you think that two hour Twitch video was?

EDIT: Going off of TheOGB's post, I want to just highlight that Jon is disingenuous as fuck when he specifies his Iranian/Hungarian ancestry as disproving his commitment to white supremacy, when he undoubtedly gets the benefits of white privilege because he is still ultimately a white male at the end of the day in this particular society. Thus, he feels he himself is under attack as a white person when it comes to minority groups pointing out the country's sins, but to try and disprove this worry and subsequent racism he'll trot out his specific ancestry. It's basically the Irish argument. What a fuckhead.

To be honest I think most minority people are done with that shit. They've tried to be reasonable for 200+ years and it's got them exactly nowhere. It got them President Trump.

I quit giving H3H3 clicks after he caped for PDP but I'd be genuinely surprised if he goes anywhere near this. The old H3H3 would publicly condemn him and tear him apart, but that's not happening these days.

No way Ethan does a video on this, he gives his friends a pass and will not critically look at the situations involving them, the whole Pewdiepie ordeal has shown us that.

Holy shit this fucking JonTron *actually* asked why the economy needs to grow

Like I keep getting reminded of things he said and I still can't believe it

I kinda want hbomberguy to make a video about it but, like, what more can you even say

Lol, I just got to that part in the debate.

Jon is so out of his depth.

I have a feeling that he won't be the last person we see with those kind of views.

Disgusting times we live in, even in Video Game industry where its supposed to be all fun and game.

You don't think people hear this garbage from their families, friends, etc? Those are actual role models. Jon is a guy that makes gaming videos online. It's such a waste of energy to get upset. You're not going to change his mind, lol. Go ahead and continue the pointlessness though.
Well I think kids today are being expose to this kind contents/youtubers A LOT. I think they share more time with these youtuber than their family. Its sad.

What a racist little shit. Looked at his twitter and it's full of white supremacist nonsense. I'd love to confront him at a panel and dare him to say this stuff in public instead of hiding behind a screen.

It's an echo chamber as old as time. They look around them, see white people everywhere and automatically think it belongs to them

It's peculiar as it seems to me that Native American history and culture in the US is almost kept locked away, which is my POV from the outside looking in.

It should be celebrated not forgotten and hidden. If Americans had more positive exposure to this integral part of their history in the education system, perhaps there would be slightly less racism around.

If you go to New Zealand, the native culture there is celebrated, I'm not saying there isn't racism, and perhaps this is in part because the native population is comparatively much larger compared to that in the US versus the Caucasian population, but the attitude seems vastly different.

I don't understand why so many gaming personalities turn out to be racists or xenophobes, not to mention sexists. What is it about this hobby that turns all these people into such shitbags?

Did all YouTubers go crazy lately?

Youtubers are regular people, that suddenly get attention from thousands (or millions) of people. And then everything they say gets treated like its some political statement. Its just the internet blowing everything up. One wrong tweet and you have an internet hatemob on your ass.

The hobby doesn't turn anyone into shitbags.

They're not regular people. They're personalities who have a platform that can reach and influence millions. You don't get to that point without having to deal with some extra responsibility.

I thought he was pro-GamerGate?

No. He made a sarcastic joke about it to the extent of, "People were so happy and carefree once, nowadays they're like "Grr, that feminism is really eating apart our society."" In general though, he's got a level head, and was one of the few high profile YouTubers to come out and actually admonish PewDiePie a little and actually say "words have consequences."

Dunkey is still as Dunkey has always been

Dunkey is immortal.

You might want to read back a few pages before buttoning up that cape too tightly

Does he even know what country he's in, how did all those white folks get to America in the first place? It's not like he's native.

There's lots of examples of multiculturalism all over the world, countries don't just exist in vacuums like this cunt thinks, it's just such a stupid and simplistic view of the world. Just because his world is 'white America' he can't conceive of a world outside his stupid fucking brain that might differ from his. Racist moron.

It has nothing to do with the hobby directly. Hobbies don't turn people in to shitbags, right? Haven't their views stood for a longtime and now they have an avenue to let others know how they feel?

This was more than one tweet. And it wasn't a "slip-up". Saying something that racist isn't something you do by mistake.

It doesn't turn people into shitbags, but the nature of streaming/youtube is that *anyone* can get big with it and some of those people happen to be shitbags.

Probably because a lot of them are white men who don't interact with minorities very often. Also, if you step out of the GAF bubble the internet is an extremely racist place. I'm sure there's people here that preach tolerance but then go post slurs on 4chan since they're anonymous.

Guaranteed you'll find such a plurality of cultural backgrounds amongst his viewership as well lol. These views are just logically incoherent as well — and whenever they are expressed, they just illustrated historical ignorance.

I would like to personally thank JonTron for doing that interview with Destiny and introducing me to a Twitch streamer I actually like, lol.

Stayed up and watched that stream for hours after the interview ended. So nice to find a gaming personality who is unabashedly progressive.

No one in particular, I just saw a few mentions of it while I was scrolling through. That's kinda my point, who's going "TL;DR" and just seeing the aggression? Probably warranted, but the impressionable might pick the "wrong side" based on this. I get why it can be difficult sometimes, with certain characters.

Let's not forget the "retard" incident, where he used that word casually and insultingly and was politely asked not to do so anymore by a fan on Twitter.

This was a crossroads for him, a moment to be an empathetic human being, apologize to them, learn something, and move on as a better person. He hadn't even been taken to task for it: just merely asked not to be so insulting.

Instead he doubled down and called that person a "retard."

Like. You have to actively try to be that shitty.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did it to begin with because he said some dumb shit in private.

The whole Grumps family seems rather left leaning, so it wouldn't surprise me.
I remember when I was sad about Jon leaving Grumps, but I grew to love Danny and now I'm glad Jon is not part of the group anymore.
Danny is a great and loving dude, he's a joy.
