eventide island

the last ball, the one that came off the hinox, I accidentally dropped it in the quicksand and it seems to have vanished. I looked around where the hinox was to see if it respawned there and I can't find it.

Any ideas?

Yeah, happened to me too.

Ended up restarting.

Gosh... Every time I play this game I'm amazed to find new areas that I haven't even touched yet. I'm like 40 hours in and I feel like I've seen less than half of the map despite having all the towers unlocked.

I convinced myself that I was going to hammer down and "beat" the game soon just so I can avoid spoilers. That lasted for about one hour before I went back to exploring. This world is just to wonderful to leave.

I feel like a lof of the shrines could have been combined in to single, bigger shrines.

What would be the value of that, though? Linked together as wings, or sequentially?

"Content A" sequentially blocking "content B" is at odds with the core design of the game. The main quest lines are already such wild deviations from everything else in the game in that regard.

what I did was
head straight for the support beams overhead and just drop a banana at the last guy and go behind him. easy

So I just have to load a previous save from before I got here?

It might be safer to suicide. That'll for sure restart it. You'll have to sail all the way to the Island again though.

I know right? I keep being distracted by random stuff in the distance while trying to progress. I really should talk to impa eventually.

Does anyone know where the tower is for the area right above the Gerudo desert at the bottom left of the map? I've discovered two shrines in that region, but I feel like I've looked all over there and still haven't found the tower. Doesn't help that the plateaus are shrouded in fog the whole time.

Fuck, I actually hit the edge of the map and was told I couldn't go any father, and I still didn't find it!

What's great is, despite me thinking this is one of the best games I've ever played, I can still see how a sequel could improve a fair amount upon what's here.

I mean, this game with some more substantial dungeons and more visually unique shines would go a long way in its own.

Wait! I've read you can try to leave, and then refuse the voice, and it'll reload stuff without a total restart. It might work.

I know some people may not care but I just miss actual bombs. I love the classic Zelda bombs from my childhood. I don't like the matrix energon powers. I want real bombs.

Too late, I already killed myself and got reloaded not only to before I arrived at the island, but to before my last cooking session before leaving for the island. I ragequit. Fuck it.

Gerudo town is my favorite place in the game, everything is so chill. It sucks that Link is underage for the bar, though. Strolling through town I met little Gerudo girls and I wondered, what happened to their fathers? And what of the Gerudo women that marry men (one said she has a husband), do they need to leave town or do they do long distance relationships, or do their men live in tents in the desert?

There are Gerudo in the town that answer all these questions. Talk to everyone!

I think you see the tower from the Great Plateau.

I'm really starting to think that we'll get a MM-esque sequel. Way smaller world, but packed with dungeons, shrines, towns, characters, etc. More linear story progression, as well.

I think the small sized dungeons and shrines work perfectly with the format of the Switch (ant the Wii U, to a certain extent), it gives room to accomplish stuff in really short play sessions, which just couldn't be done in any of the previous 3D Zeldas with, most of the tasks taking at least a couple of hours to complete.

I think they already got that down in A link between worlds, where they sacrificed the size of the dungeons and added a few small one room challenges (which are basically, the blueprint of the shrines in a BotW), that fit better handheld gaming sessions (normally shorter).

I can see how it can be disappointed to some, moreso after the excellent dungeon (and pre dungeon) design of Skyward Sword, but is a good compromise to make a game suitable for both console and handheld sessions.

Its in the middle west of that region. Its hard to find unless you keep going west. I couldnt spot it from any vantage point until I was close to it.

I swear the game is programmed to have it start raining as soon as you start fighting any Stone Talus. Fuck that so much. I could be climbing all over that thing, SotC style, but no, I'm just gonna spam bombs because lolrain.
can't you just spam jumps to climb it anyway? it's not that tall so even if you slip once in a while it's not a big deal

I'll try that out. I thought I spotted all of the towers I could from there, but I know I haven't found everything there so it wouldn't hurt to go back and try again.

Well that narrows it down at least. Thanks.

I finally got some time to sit down with this game over the weekend, and MY GOD. The amount of freedom you have in this game is liberating. I ended my play session yesterday by climbing a cold mountain, clearly well before I was supposed to be there because even the cold fighting tunic I got at the beginning of my adventure wasn't working.
As I was running up the mountain and past all the enemies, you know, just to see how far I could go before dying, I came to a shrine at the top of the mountain. Here I had to save a dragon from Calamity Ganon's corruption by using updrafts and my para glider as he descended the mountain with every hit. Healing myself with the dozens of apples I've gathered along the way, I was successful in freeing the beast.

This was the most exhilarating thing I've ever done in a video game, hands down. Nintendo has crafted something special here for sure. It's not like any game I've ever played before.

I think that woman you mentioned says that she doesn't live in Gerudo Town permanently since she got married, but has to come back to work - I guess some of them must end up only being able to see their husband and any (non-Gerudo) male children only for a few months at a time, unless they're willing to move away completely. Though there's probably several different ways that the drama of Gerudo relationships could resolve, with ample room for accidental pregnancies, exiled sons, dramatic breakups and shattered families.

Are people referring to Wizzrobes as minibosses...? Why?

Tradition?

Is it this one?

I strarted my session last night thinking "well, I've seen most of the map, I'll probably get bored of wandering around soon, might as well start moving towards finishing up the Goron quest" (the Goron quest is the last one I have) and then 4 hours later and I've not really done much of anything beyond some shrines, korok seeds and the last two memories I needed.
I also bought a home, fully furnished it, found my last fairy fountain, couldn't afford it, got a precious Gerudo heirloom to wear, started building a whole new town and completed various miscellaneous quests.

Tradition?

Wizzrobes have traditionally just been regular enemies. It was only Ocarina and Majora's mask that treated them as mini-bosses, with Wind Waker having a few scripted encounters with them, but they were otherwise regular enemies. I don't recall any 2D game where they were anything more than regular enemies.

Although I guess they must be kind of important because they're the only regular enemy to be playable in Hyrule Warriors, so idunno

I imagine BoTW to be like Super Mario Galaxy. The next one will take this template and blow minds, even more than BoTW did.

If you run around the Island it should respawn. Someone on twitch lost a ball out to sea past the out-of-bands marker for the Island.

I'm in the part where
I have to buy Women's clothes to get into this town. Is there another way in or I have to pay up?

Breath of the Wild 2 needs to take place on an entirely new, non-Hyrule continent.

Then, Breath of the Wild 3 can take place on this exact same map, but where people of Hyrule have rebuilt their towns/temples/roads/shrines/lives.

so i gotten myself 4 extra hearts by praying, and i have enough orbs for another upgrade. but I'm thinking of getting a stamina upgrade now. is it worth it?? i usually have stamina elixirs and potions, but they kinda run out frequently..

Sorry, but for someone with your user name, I couldn't help but chuckle at your post here.

As far as I know, there is no workaround to it. Pay up.

So I finally farmed the crap out of the snow bowling thing. Made my way to the Ancient Tech Lab thing to finally get some armor. Then realized I only had like 3 ancient gears and 3 cores. I don't even know how this is possible. I feel like I've picked up thousands of these things. Anyways, I guess I'll go look for some of that stuff. I think I only need like 6 more of each.

Absolutely, it's way more usefull than hearts IMO! Climbing everywhere is vital for exploring! (but keep upgrading hearts, you'll need some to beat the game)

Fang and Bone shop:

Holy shit, full Dark Link outfit! What an awesome thing for long-time Zelda fans. I hope there is more stuff along these lines in the game that I'm yet to discover.

So I have 7 heart containers no extra stamina, I feel relatively weak in general since my weapons don't last long and I don't hit that hard either.
Should I tackle the 4 beasts and then go and explore for shrines and stuff? or is the time for exploring right now before the beasts? I feel I won't be able to survive much nor have the tool/resources for deep exploration/challenges right now.

So where's the sweet spot to stop story progression and go shrines/secrets hunting?

Slight spoilers about items
I finally found
the Master Sword
and I didn't beat any of the main dungeons yet. The area is pretty cool too.

This game is taking all of my free time. It's been pretty much Zelda + work the past week :|

I've decided to slow down a bit to enjoy it more. It didn't really match the pace of the game to race through it by taking my Switch everywhere I go. Three dungeons and god knows how many hours in and I'm enjoying every second still. Especially with Pro Mode and nearly not looking ANYTHING up. I'll miss shit for sure, but damn does it make it all the more real when you stumble upon something wonderful.

Agreed. I'd add these to the list of things that could be improved upon:

- Enemy variety. I haven't been to all of the regions yet, but all of the palette swap enemies are a little disappointing. More standard enemy types are needed.

- QOL improvements. Being able to swap items out when opening a chest or picking up a new weapon. Pressing 'A' on a pot to start cooking instead of awkwardly holding everything and dropping it in manually.

- Less rain. Or some way to avoid the (very common) situation of it raining for ten minutes when you're halfway up a mountain. A musical instrument that could change the weather would be an interesting idea.

I'd love a Majora's Mask style sequel in a few years.

If you would not mind having to use a itrm every time there is rain, you should not mind checking the weather forecast on the UI and creating a fire to skip the day if rain is coming soon.

where can you see how much you played?

Yeah, same. The only time I could play is at home or on my commute but after probably 60+ hours, I'm still addicted. I've just been climbing stuff the majority of the time :|

Work around is to install the Parental Control app and turn it on in the Switch settings. It won't show you your beginning times though, just when you installed it.
