The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild |OT2| It's 98 All Over Again

Without too much help, I need some help, lol.

So, I'm over 30+ hours in and just unlocked the
taking photos
ability. I went back to Impa, who gave me a quest for my new found ability. Is there any easy way to find the locations of where the
photos were taken?

Thanks in advance.

Look for the painter at stables. He gives hints.

I do wish when you had all four guardians, the Master Sword and all memories that the Hyrule Castle song changed to some variant of this

The current song is nice for sneaking around and feeling like you're in way over your head. But there's a point where you aren't in over your head, and the music should change to reflect that growth in power. Change the song into a siege against Ganon.

yeah I am, I don't think I've found something that either wasn't already noted on the map once you get there (like a town or special location) or anything that I didn't have a unique stamp for. I've been using the pot with lid for cooking locations, skull for boss encounters, sword for places where good weapons will be, that rupee looking thing I've been using for goddess statues, and I don't really use any of the other ones. I had a star on eventide island for a bit because I didn't beat it at first and wanted to do other things.
I do all the same, plus the leaf for korok locations I can't currently complete, and the bow and arrow for respawning ammo locations. I also use rupees for minigame locations.

The painter that you find first in kakariko village will give you hints... but you can find most of them without him, just by looking at the background in the photo, and deduce it

Are you guys finding the stamps sufficient for keeping track of stuff you've done/needs doing?

Thinking that when I play this I might make an image of the map that I can annotate properly. Can you buy a cloth map of it?

For the most part, yeah, but I make sure to use most of the different kinds of stamps and I can remember what each one means. sword = shrine, leaf = korok or resources, skull = talus or hinox, star = unique area (fairy, heart-shaped lake, etc), crystal = tower, chest = rare ore.

You should purchase the house for several main reasons:

1)
Storage - You can add racks to display gear.

2)
It unlocks another major sidequest.
Will do. Pain in the ass to make money though.

Could sell all these stones since they got for such high prices (ruby's, etc.) but I have a feeling that I need to save them for upgrading.

It's not really a story if they're all flashbacks.

There's still a lot of story happening in the present even though they reference the past.

One thing that the story in this game does really, really well is actually underscore the whole "amnesia" angle. Like, the way
the champions talk in the memories or during the dungeons
really makes it feel like you and they were very good friends, yet you recall so little about your friendship with them that it still feels to you like they are strangers. I don't really know how they did it but this is probably the one time that the "amnesia" angle in a game has actually made me feel like I've forgotten actual, tangible experiences from the game world and story.

Yeah, it's well done and
Links short reunions felt bittersweet
. I think its because I started with
Zora first and they really drove home the point that the Champions were important to him.

I loved that the
Zora remembered Links failure and him forgetting their beloved Princess only enraged them further.

Caught an all black horse today and called him Death, I decorated him with
the monster saddle and mask (don't remember the horse terminology)
. Went riding in an unexplored area, sure enough we fell off a wet cliff after half an hour and Death died. That's not what I meant when giving him that name, it was more of a rider of the apocalypse kinda thing :(

I loved
Revali's arc. I had already found a few memories before doing that part of the game so I knew pretty much how he felt about Link. it was cool seeing that whole bit play out and how it ended after the boss fight was both poignant and funny.

Do snow bowling. If you find the sweet spot you can make a good amount of cash.

I had 50 arrows at one point and since then I've been floating around only having 5 at a time. Most of my purchases have been overpriced arrow bundles.

I've encountered I think 3 shrines so far where there is no puzzle, just a chest and the goal. What's that about?

I'm guessing that getting to the shrine itself was the challenge, but I don't accept that explanation. It's not the same itch that's being scratched as inside the shrines. It was just climbing involved.

the edginess was too much to handle for him

yeah usually the puzzle for those ones is finding the shrine itself, I think it tells you that in the text when you're in there

yes it is, some shrine are just tied to npc sidequest that tell you cryptic information about a strange thing they saw, and when you find it, that's the reward

We're in the same boat. If you find something, please share it! I thought about making my own but there are so many landscape features and the map is so large that I'm not willing to invest the time.

Could be. I've only had one or two escape me once the proximity sensor goes off. I don't know how close you have to be for it to sense them.

Did a cursory google search, strangely can't seem to find a plain image of the world map with all regions unveiled.

I know its not in the spirit of the game to flood the map with info and progress-tracking, but I kinda like having a solid visual representation of what I've done. If I take it too far though it'll be like an Assassins Creed game in reverse :P

I am almost done maxing out the Barbarian set.
Dragon farming was frustrating but worth the effort. Now I need to kill about 6 more Lynels after killing a bajilion to get to where I am.

What do I do with Korok seeds? I've gotten a bunch of them now, but I have no idea what to do with them.

that is the explanation, some shrines have the puzzle outside

I'm doing that dungeon next so I cant wait to see more of their story!

Yes, some shrines are all about just getting inside. The monks even mention this. Some are just climbing, but others have more complex overworld puzzles that you have to complete before the shrine even appears.

Wait, those elemental mages weapons don't break?. GOD I had two of them for like 20 hours.

What a waste of a slot lmao

edit: nvm. it does break.

What do I do with Korok seeds? I've gotten a bunch of them now, but I have no idea what to do with them.

Take them to Hetso(or Hesto or whatever) to expand weapon/bow/shield inventory.

Expand your inventory space, you have to find Hetsu, the big Korok. If you haven't met him, he is by the road up to Kakariko
(the first time, he then changes location)

I completed my fourth dungeon (the Rito one)! That was easily the worst dungeon in the game. Now I just need to complete the rest of the shrines and find enough Korok seeds to max my inventory before going to fight Ganon.

Look for a large Korok near the South Entrance to the first town (with Impa) you visited. I missed it too, due to my desire to climb everything and not stick to any path for the first 30+ hours of the game.

Yeah, that is complete, utter bullshit, and the worst part of the game, and I'm not even joking. Everything else in the entire game of any importance is redundant- multiple main paths, multiple shrines, multiple goddess statues, multiple fairies, but the first step of that goddamn Korok quest is a single fucking spot with virtually zero bread crumbs pointing to him, and he is the most important upgrade NPC in the entire game.

It is fucking terrible There should be a main quest that bread crumbs you to him.

Awful design.

LOL.

This is not a good standard for when to go beat the game, and you may suffer from OCD.

I've made the same mistake since the beginning, which is basically:

climb mountain+para-glide to spot+climb another mountain+para-glide again.

Riding on horse now is helping me discover more side-quests and meet new NPCs and locations/treasures.

The good thing about this is that replay value is big with BOTW. Beat the game first quickly with paregliding, then concentrate on discovering all secrets on foot/horse.

The Twilight Bow is silly. It makes Dragon pieces easy to snipe from way further than you ever should be able to sniper them, and makes some Korok challenges into trivial tasks.

And I have three of these bows

For being Light Arrows, they don't really do all that much damage, though. But as a tool they're crazy useful.

the main quest DOES bread crumb you to him...the first main quest off the plateau is to go to Kakariko, he's on the way to kakariko via the main entrance...

Is it longer range than the other long-range bows?

Like the guy I responded to said, he off-roaded into Kakariko. Kakariko has at least 4 "entrances", and more if come in from the waterfalls.

The Old Man does tell you to follow that road tbh. But does he not show up if you go to the forest? That's not good if so.

Cool, I am starting the
Goron beast quest
and this looks amazing, I think I'll do 2 beasts and then will go for more Shrines. this game man, this game.

Haven't done that one yet, but I'm willing to bet it's awesome. II think that'll be later in the week for me.

And yeah, this game man, this game is 100% correct.

I'm 39 hours in, and it feels like I've played...maybe 8? Time is flying by as I'm meandering through the world.

Thanks guys. That explains how I missed him.

I entered
Kakariko
more or less as the crow flies from the Twin Peaks tower, because I just climbed over everything and went along the mountain ranges.

Is it longer range than the other long-range bows?

It has no "fall off" the arrows will fly completely straight up to their maximum range, which gives them more range than other bows just by a lack of gravity. It also makes aiming basically brainless.

And I can spawn one of these bad boys a day every single day with <10 minutes of work.

Same. Theres a lot of good stuff on the main roads. I just climbed and glided over places so I often strayed from them. Now that I'm better with horses I regularly go on rides and I've found a lot of NPCs and merchants I hadn't seen before.

This is stupid and this kind of comment is exactly how he gets away from explaining that score, he'll just throw any further questioning under the "nintendo fanboys are ddosing me like no man's sky fans".

OK. Thanks for calling my comment stupid. "your comment is stupid too". Sorry but you danced around with proviso's and disclaimers about how he's normally a good reviewer, only to come to the same conclusion as me. It's a bullshit review.

I really like following the roads with my horse and meeting locals at the stable to learn about the new area I've walked into.

I make a habit to end my session by sleeping there and waking at morning, but turning my Switch off for the night and waking up to start from when I wake up ingame :)

To those complaining about the rain, I'm strangely enjoying running for cover to make a fire and sit it out until the storm passes.

You have to encounter him outside Karakiko, and then I'm pretty sure you have to encounter him at a stable (he will appear at several, so he is appropriately redundant for step 2). But Step 1 is always in that one spot, because you have to get the nearby quest item.

I only need about 50 more eeds to max out my shields (I've already maxed out my bows and melee weapons). It's not going to take a ton of time to find the seeds I'm missing.

I'm looking for restless crickets for a side quest and have them registered to my Sheikah Slate Sensor but even though its beeping they're nowhere to be seen..? What gives? Any pointers?
