What?

It was a joke, people need to chill out.

I'm not arguing that you should find this tweet offensive.

I'm stating that the tweet is inarguably sexist. Especially given the context of it's posting.

What argument do you have that the tweet is not sexist?
I say thing like that all the time as a joke, when my wife and daughter go out somewhere. And I love both of them, but I also enjoy peace and quite when they leave for an hour.

Wtf people!!! I know I'm out of my league here, since people here hate Colin, so you can continue with crucifying him.

Maybe he doesn't realize March 8 was National Women's Day? That's the only thing I can think of.
It's tagged in the tweet though. Also the worst part of that whole tweet fiasco was his reaction to the backlash. If he had apologized things would be different, but he had to double down like he always does and play the victim.

Colin was an excellent games commentator and historian. I always enjoyed hearing (but rarely, if ever, agreed with) his political views as a sort of side note in things like Conversations with Colin, Colin Was Right, etc.

But once these two things started colliding and he started holding himself out as some savior of free speech and "creativity" in games because he was brave enough to say white men can have opinions too, I couldn't stand him. Like many have said on this thread, he was always advocating for free speech, listening to different opinions, and having "civil" (my god how I hate how people use that word) conversations about politics, but never hesitated to drag anyone who had the gall to express dissatisfaction with representation in video games or dare to venture into the realm of identity politics (see the most recent episode of PS I Love You, where he spends half the time yelling about how stupid and childish a Native woman is for starting a conversation around the use of certain historically oppressive words in Horizon: Zero Dawn).

The first video game podcast I ever listened to was the Podcast Beyond episode recorded after their first live show (back when it was Greg, Colin, and Ryan). I remember Colin talking about how humbled he was by all of these strangers being so happy to see him in person. Now Colin goes on the Rubin Report and Glenn Beck. Now he spends time on his podcast (albeit humorously) discussing whether he is one of the most famous people to come from Long Island. Colin Was Right used to be a self-deprecating inside joke, but now it's turned into a single-minded worldview.

I'll miss hearing Colin's commentary on everything Playstation, his interest in the history of games, and his chemistry with Greg. I'll even miss his obsession with sales numbers and general know-it-all attitude relating to video game industry business decisions. I won't miss his negativity and constant crying over the opinions of "PC Police" or "SJWs." I'm sad that Colin is gone, but I'm happy to see him leave.

This post gets it.

You make it sound as if this kind of thing came out of nowhere. The reason why this happened is because Colin made many crass and unsympathetic comments and did not apologize for any of it, even when he was clearly in the wrong.

I firmly believe there is no need to apologize for such a joke. As there wouldn't be if the tables were turned. If he has made any sexist comments which represent his beliefs or actually advocates any sexist beliefs I would like to hear them.

wait, is this the tweet people have been freaking out about?
Jesus, talk about hyperbole

Its way more than one tweet my dude. This has been a long history of colin especially during the election cycle having some real fucking hot takes on twitter about all sorts of nonsense. This was just the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back.

People aren't getting all over him over one tweet dude has a history and he never ever apologizes. Like, all it needed to take was one more tweet saying hey I'm sorry that tweet was in bad taste I'll make better decisions and that would have been it.

It's not just that one tweet, also take a look at his reaction to the criticism he got over that tweet. He has no respect for the portion of the fanbase that doesn't agree with him 100%.

Sexism is an entirely different matter. Getting harassed sexually from neckbeards and co. is obviously tough but it is completely different from having actual intellectuals bombard you and try to completely ruin your name or cause people to turn on you.

This goddamn thread, actually, any political related thread on gaming. Woah...

Serious question but would people get as much offended if women would make such a joke on international mens day?

Kinda doubt it.

It's almost like there are different societal parameters regarding social groups.

"If a black man made a joke with the N-word would you all be offended? I doubt it"

There is no international mens day, by the way, because in the majority of the world, men have that be every day simply by default, because they are above women on the social hierarchy.

Which is why his joke is sexist.

But, and this is important, it's not even about just that, that's simply the straw that broke the camels back.

People watch Tomi Lehren and she's incredibly stupid and uninformed. Colin has his cult of followers that will follow him into hell. You don't have to actually know about politics or have reasonable political takes to be a political pundit these days. Hell you don't actually have to know about politics to be President. What a time to be alive.

The ironic thing is that if he goes in this direction, all he will be doing is creating that echo chamber he claims to hate so much.

Same could be said about the Young Turks. Pick a side, dig in for the worst of it, start finding molotovs to throw.

The world in which we live, where you second guess every thing you're told and can't decide if you love or hate someone.

I'm not "crucifying him."

I'm literally doing nothing more than pointing out how inarguable it is to state that his tweet was sexist after you said it was not.

Rather him during the "Beyond Days" be since they went to kinda funny i guess he could freely express since politics. He's been getting more and more jaded, i think he wants to go into politics now with Milo gone the Right can use young male mouth-piece

This is absolutely nuts to me. I've been listening to Colin and Greg since I was in high school, and I've been out of college for like 2 years now. I could totally see him falling out for months now as he's been around less and seemed less invested than when they first started. But damn. I feel a little lost lol.

I've followed Colin for a bit and you could see his level of enthusiasm going down, week by week. His tweet, although a joke, was stupidly timed. The fact that it escalated to the point where Kinda Funny members, former IGN colleagues and his girlfriend got involved is unfortunate.

I will say this about Colin: he does his homework when he wants to and can have great conversation when he wants to but his attitude and ego need work. When he was on the Rubin show, he was all smiles and enthusiasm and when someone of high status in the gaming industry would compliment him on his latest 'Colin is Right', he would be quick to retweet or respond with appreciation. Yet when it came to talking with his fans, he was stoic and disinterested. it was time for him to go. I wish him luck, however.

The sexist nature of the tweet is offensive, but what's even more offensive is how lazy the joke is. "Women are loud lulz!" is at about the same humor sophistication level as "Women be shoppin". This guy is successful as a modern comedic personality?

Effective immediately? He wont even have a proper sendoff in this week's content? Will he even appear on tomorrow's PSILY podcast to say goodbye?

I think this was building for some time. Toward the end of last year he really seemed checked out on the podcasts and going through the motions. The only times he perked up were when he discussed his projects outside of Kinda Funny.

He's probably not the type of guy that ones to publicly discuss video games for on video 5 days a week. It was probably ruining his enjoyment of games overall.

.

Are you a public facing figure working for a company that is trying to build up a following on social media and Youtube? Do you make those jokes to your hundreds of thousands of followers and then, when they don't laugh at your bad joke, tell them they are "humorless sacks of shit?" If not, MAYBE, your situation and Kinda Funny's might be a little different?

Also, no one is implying that you aren't sexist either.

No, because men aren't an oppressed group in society. Also every day is 'International Men's Day', and has been for basically all of human civilization. It's called Patriarchy.
