Question: Where will you find Link if you save the game in the middle of the dungeon, go back to the title screen, and load the save data? Will he be in the dungeon's entrance or exactly at the spot where you last saved the game?

Has anyone tried to take the orb from the spiral all the way over to Kakariko yet?

Well I'm done with the game until the DLC.

35 hours. Got Master Sword, all towers, all memories ,about 100 koroks and 45 shrines.

Although I skipped every dungeon and went straight to Ganon.

The bosses were pretty cool, although Zelda bosses are never hard, they were a bit harder considering I only played with 3 hearts the whole game. I parry the whole time, making them easier, but much more satisfying to kill.

-I'm disappointed in the music, not because its minimal, but because the most frequent song you hear is one of the weakest in the game. The enemy battle themes were all disappointing in my opinion. Only Ganon's was good.
-Story was okay. Better then some Zelda games, but won't be memorable like say WW or MM.
-VA was okay, its not horrible, just needed better direction. Get the person who did FE or KI.
-This game has my favorite NPCs of the series. Funny and charming. Beedle disappointed me, WW's was much better.
-This Link is great, his sassy responses gave him some character
-Although I loved the exploration, I personally felt the game was too big.

All and All, a great entry in the series. I'll have to come back some time later to see where it would rank in my personal favorites. Right now its 5th. Behind Wind Waker, Ocarina, TP, and Minish Cap

Half the story in the game are in the main quests surrounding the dungeons. You should do them because theyre fun and interesting.

Yeah I've been playing about 3 hours every day, but I'm just a little sad because I adored it going in and hadn't played a Zelda title since Windwaker but got burnt out pretty quick.

It's a good game, but I the gameplay loop is really starting to show for me.

Explore, find shrine, find tower, do sidequest which is neat but rewards nothing special, advance story.

I don't even know what I'm complaining about, but it just feels like they made this huge map and tried to pad it out with way too much.

The massive map is intimidating for sure but theres always interesting things to be found. I like the sidequests for the interesting characters and their stories, the rewards are an afterthought.

You can just skip the extras and do only the main quest if you want. Having this freedom was weird at first and id much prefer things to be laid out for me but ive learned to really appreciate it over time.

Back at the dungeon entrance.

I'm not sure how long I've been playing, but I just got the Master Sword and finished activating the towers. I have one more dungeon to complete.

Quick yes or no question: when you complete the last dungeon does that trigger a path straight to the end of the game? I ask because I'm debating whether to continue exploring, or get this final dungeon outta the way.

Minor spoiler regarding arrows.
I just fired an ancient arrow for the first time at a Lynel in the ruined coliseum
and goddamn I was not expecting that. I don't know what I expected but the effect was a "holy shit I can't believe that just happened" moment after already putting in 50 hours into this game and thinking I had seen pretty much every surprise. Wow.

All that happens is
Zelda tells you she's waiting for you at Hyrule Castle.

You can go to Ganon now if you want. Completing the fourth doesn't change anything except you can go talk to Impa and she'll update your quest log.

This is one of the most beautiful looking games I've ever played. There are more holy shit moments with sunsets or weather coming in than any other game. I like how it looks more than Witcher 3 even though technically the two games are miles apart. The art is incredible.

Alright wicked, I figured as much, given the nature of the game

Hmmm...I wanna wring as much content outta this before I fight Ganon, 'cause I think I might put it down afterwards. But who knows. I'm kind of addicted at this point.

How can you rate the story without completing the dungeons? You also missed out on some awesome
abilities.
why on Earth would you stop before completing the game?

Hmm really? Some of the few reviews I read only mention the memories as being the story. They were spoiler free reviews tho. I guess they didn't mention it since they expected you to go there.

Well I'll come back later. I'm not a fan of open world games and I just don't want to burn myself out. After 35 hours I was almost at that point. Felt the needed to beat it and set it down for later.

For those who kind of needs diamonds in the game (for cash or whatever reason), there are two methods you can do for a guaranteed piece:

A sidequest in Zora Domain opens up after you finish its dungeon. The dude near the main entrance looking like hammering a post will ask for 10 luminous stones for a diamond. Finish it and you'll get 2 (because he'll give you an extra). You can trade 10 luminous stones for 1 diamond as much as you want after that.

Another dude asks for 55 rushrooms for 1 diamond. I think the dude is on Gerudo Canyon stables.

The first one is much easier since the material you need occurs more frequently and very visible in a lot of places, especially at night.

Eeeh, doing the dungeons
doesn't add that much to the primary story really. It's just 4 smaller story arcs that supplement the main one.

edit: And even then, they are very basic "hey you saved us thanks" story arcs that don't expand on anything surrounding Ganon, what happened, the hylians, or anything else really.

Thanks for the answer. I guess I won't be getting this game, then.

Does that really kill your interest in this game? You oughta just play it. Without saying too much, dungeons in this game don't work the way you think, and starting you at the entrance is a non-issue. You'll see when you play.

Has anyone else ever had their Switch run out of battery overnight in sleep mode? I had a full charge before I left for work yesterday. Took the switch with me but didn't play it. Didn't play it when I got home either, went to sleep and woke up to a dead battery.

I think my biggest gripe with this game so far is enemy variety. I think it especially stands out given the environment variety. The rest of the game is incredible.

Yeah it's really a shame. Find a brand new area ripe with new NPCs and plants. Except...Oh..Is that a moblin? And some wolves..Ehhh...

Yeah. Kinda suffering from the same thing as Dragons Dogma. Otherwise, I love the game.

Ok so I looked at the parental controls app and apparently the system was running for several more hours yesterday than it actually was. Perhaps the home button was accidentally pressed causing the system to wake in my pocket? But then there's no reason the system should stay on for hours without input so that makes no sense.

Done about 19 shrines and the first dungeon and only explored the Plateau,
Zora's Domain
and the area which
Kakariko and Hateno
are in. Not sure if I should keep searching for shrines in those areas or branch out; it definitely feels like I'm not seeing as many.

The touch screen also serves as an input so maybe that's why.

Methinks that while there isn't an explicit order to things, they were developed with the idea that you'd attempt them in the order of Zora, Rito, Goron, and Gerudo.

Logic being you don't require any sort of resistances to traverse Zora's Domain, and it's a relatively good introduction to the game's weather and traversal mechanics. For the Rito, you likely already have one piece of gear to survive cold weather, so getting one more piece won't be too much trouble. Climbing Death Mountain to reach the Goron requires you to use elixirs, which is a good introduction to not requiring armor to traverse hostile climates. And lastly, the Gerudo Desert combines all three mechanics (hostile weather, freezing at night, scorching at day).

Simple put, I figure there's a reason
Thunderblight Ganon
is such a hardass.
Funny. I've been shrine hunting and exploring for 10 days and just finished Gerudo tonight. Now onto the other three. Eventually...

You've only seen about 15% of the game. They are everywhere. Get out and explore!

Has anyone tried to take the orb from the spiral all the way over to Kakariko yet?

I thought about it but decided against it. It vaporizes once you do with it what it's intended for and I don't think it respawns (haven't looked, though), so that option is gone for me anyway. Depending on what you get in Kakariko (I think the orb there is linked to the completion of the memory location, just a guess), using the spiral orb could be a nice shortcut on a second playthrough later or for the speed run folks.

Once you complete that dungeon you are reminded to proceed forward. But you don't have to and go where you want

Mine didn't drain all the way but got pretty low overnight once. Usually only loses a percentage or two not sure what happened that night

Is taming horses connected to something else than stamina? I tried to tame a black horse on sunday and just couldnt get it done at all, then I tried to tame a brown one and I could easily tame it with one button press...

Then it died cause it got shot down by a guardian :(

That isn't true, every dungeon has
memories tied to them and gives you backstory of the relationship between the champions and Link, and also add to the general picture.

Pressing L more quickly will do the trick.

I've played a couple of Zelda games before, but I never finished any of them. One of them is Wind waker, which everyone seems to love, yet I ended up abandoning the game shortly after the first dungeon. I never liked the fact that you had to go through a whole dungeon in a single run. Is this game really that different?

So you are done with the game until the DLC, but didn't play any of the dungeons? Why would you not go back and do them now? It's like saying, i'll skip heaps of the main story content, complain about the story not being memorable, and then let my game just sit there until August/December when there is DLC.

I'm really glad you liked it, but wut.

You missed so many awesome stuff
But it's the way you choose to play

That isn't true, every dungeon has
memories tied to them and gives you backstory of the relationship between the champions and Link, and also add to the general picture.

Which... also doesn't add to anything in the grander scheme.

Hey Link you were a cool dude and so was I, oops, I got killed by Ganon, thanks I was avenged! It doesn't add much that the standard memories don't already convey. There are smaller arcs but those are entirely isolated from anything to do with Ganon, Zelda, or Link. Gerudo queen gurl has to prove her worth, Goron kid feels weak and also unworthy, Rito dude... does nothing?, Fish prince is a cool dude and stays a cool dude, Fish councelor learns the value of "Let Link fucking do everything cause it's fucking Link"

The dungeons are shorter and even then now you actually don't have to go through a whole dungeon in one run.

Except for the good cutscenes that are tied to it. And are you kidding about the actual approaches to getting into the dungeons not being memorable? Yeah right.

Is it easy to stumble upon the (weapon spoilers)
Master Sword questline? I definitely want to get it but I'd like to find it on my own without internet help if that's reasonable. What about the Hylian Shield?

Yes, many people have just stumbled upon the Master Sword. There's also a ton of people throughout the game who will give you hints on where it is and how to find it.

Hylian Shield is harder to find just by chance.

It adds as much as in past Zelda games. Charming characters, general world-building and well written dialogue. Also, the cutscenes are of extremely high quality and there are cool set pieces.

There's no quest line for both. So it's up to you find both. There's some small hints and stories from NPCs for the first one that you can use to locate it.

Except for the good cutscenes that are tied to it. And are you kidding about the actual approaches to getting into the dungeons not being memorable? Yeah right.

When did I say that? I'm not the poster who said there wasn't anything memorable.

I don't know what people think I am arguing, all I was stating was that the original poster wouldn't have gotten much more story from doing the 4 dungeons than he already saw from skipping them over and just beating Ganon. There's as much story as any Zelda game, I agree. Which is to say not a lot.

Ok, you can do that with all of the game in the end. Nothing adds, its just the same as always:
Save princess, kill badie, save the world.
In any case, even if just because of the skills you unlock, which are awesome, and the dungeons themselves, which are also really awesome, and everything leading up to them, I feel like you missed out.

Please consider doing them when DLC hits, if you don't feel like playing them now.
