Mass Effect: Andromeda - EA/Origin Access trial coming March 16th - 10 hour trial

The humans definitely aren't the tops but the aliens look awesome in IMO

Kesh the female Krogan

She's great so far. The alien races look top notch, for sure.

Server issue?

I'm not sure it happens the most during the wave 7 extraction while you're being swarmed and all the spell effects are going off it just crashes the camera goes through the floor and then it drops connection and this happens all the time I think I've finished 3 games out of my 7 I've tried.

😟

If you are asking how the ark ships got there, it's
because it took them a long time in cryostasis.

If you are asking how the player's ship goes around Andromeda itself once the proper game has begun, I'm not sure if it's explained yet, might be in the codex somewhere.
Was the latter. Thanks, hopefully they actually explain how they're travelling between systems else it's a huge continuity error.

The structure is made clear real fast once you get to the nexus(1hr in I say). You are in a galaxy that you need to settle. Clearing areas allows settlements and the more people you can get the more you can do.
Also a lot of parts are unfinished in the nexus suggesting once you get far enough story wise the focus will shift. Though populating worlds seems like the large majority.

So, lots of quests that could be very menial for a payoff that is already known what it can be.
But, combat seems very strong from what I played. How the relationships you form and other types of quest will determine how much I get into it.

This sounds an aweful lot like DA:I as far as quest structure is concerned. Is that accurate?

I'm all for pointing out flaws in the hope that they get fixed but It's crazy how we have so much material floating around that people cant stop posting more of that showcase the games flaws and yet not much at all that showcase how beautiful it can be. I mean, look at this!

Granted, these are PC Ultra. I think that for some reason even faces look much more tolerable here.

Those look really really good. Such a weird inconsistent game. It's a shame the facial animation aren't up to par with everything else.

Ultimately it will be interesting to see where this game is ranked compared to the previous entries, the worst ME yet?...with ME:2 Being the clear winner....

I'm getting the Super Deluxe version of the game for about $68, worth it? The regular version is around $53.

Trying to pick between the two.

Been playing for about 3 hours now, being quite thorough....I can't fathom any hate. This feels 100% like Mass Effect, with significantly more jumping and running on top. Loving it so far.

Even the faces aren't as ugly as they seem. I don't like most of the starting faces, but I felt like I got an OK one with minimal effort.

I can't tell from watching videos, does the over-the-shoulder view ever switch automatically?

I hate having to constantly reset it in games like Alan Wake and Ghost Recon.

Do you mean left/right shoulder swapping behind cover? That's manual (alt on PC). If you mean the pulled back third person or the tight third person, it's tight when your gun is out or your scanner, and it pulls back wheen you holster.

It's the only multiplayer game I've played that locks up during huge battles which is the entire point of a horde mode totally half-assed.

The game doesn't lock up for me. Every 2-3 waves I'd experience HEAVY rubberbanding issues. Its either that or outright disconnection from the game. EA should increase the time allotted with Origin Access to make up for all these problems.

Does this play well with an xbox gamepad on pc? Really want to steamlink.

Been fine for me, I prefer M+KB but I used the controller for a bit when I felt lazy and it swapped over to what I assume are the exact same controls as console instantly. felt fine.

Left/right shoulder swapping when out of cover. Does it ever swap automatically or if you set it to the right will it always stay on the right?

just reached as far as I can in the single player part of the trial, and will now just spend the rest of the time creating a character for when I begin again.

gave my impressions a page or so back so not going to repeat myself.

overall I really liked it and am looking forward to playing the full game.

That was my first thought as well. The castle fort from inquisition seems to be taken and applied.
The trial only gives you a few quest from what I've seen. Nothing to substantiate how the rest will be.

OK Thanks for the info. Will wait and see once people have access to the game. If this is the case its going to be something I prob wont play till towards the end of the year or something as I really didnt like DA:I's structure very much at all.

I've played an hour or two. I'm kinda enjoying it? But there's also so much that is jumping out as being either mildly annoying or borderline ruining the experience.

There is SO much chatter when exploring and during combat. Lots of yelling and it's not well-written stuff either. Liam just kept spouting stuff that made no sense.

Very little emotional connection to my twin or dad. Makes me wonder why they included them at all. Why not just make me the pathfinder? Obviously the rest of the story may explain why, but I do not expect it to be good.

The biggest issue for me is the cutscenes and dialogue. Everything about them feels awkward and clunky as hell. The delivery is stilted, the direction of the scenes confusing with either abrupt or delayed cuts. Characters will burst into a tirade out of nowhere, or just make lame jokes over and over. And the EYES. What the fuck is going on with the eyes in this game. It's like two spherical robots have gained control of one human corpse each, the worst offender being Ryder, who looks like a cross between the following two images:

I'm gonna keep playing obviously but my desire to get this at launch has basically evaporated. Story hasn't grabbed me, exploration feels just like DA:I and the presentation is all over the place.

Combat is fun though.

Was the latter. Thanks, hopefully they actually explain how they're travelling between systems else it's a huge continuity error.

They're in a cluster, they're smaller blobs of stars that cling to galaxies, the milky way has a few. They're just getting around using FTL travel I guess, like they've always had.

I'm definitely waiting to see the feedback of the MP. I intended to buy Andromeda for it, but it servers problems, lag / disconnects are real, this is a big NOPE.

I didn't care for the world in Dragon Age. The characters and motivations were clear but the lack of meaningful substance for me was what killed my interest in that game.

From the start the world building stage is clear as is it's direction is headed. I think it limits how satisfying actually completing it will be but think the game already gives the player more purpose to care about the stakes than dragon age did. I'm positive so far on it.

In the original ME games the Relays were sending you to different sectors of the galaxy; but when you were in a given sector you could still move between star systems (you remember that shitty 'avoid the reapers' mini-game where you move from system to system by moving to the outside edges of the current system map).

In ME:A you're not moving between sectors. You're in one sector; and simply moving between systems in the same way that you could in the originals.

If it's anything like most other big online multiplayer releases, it'll probably be a shitshow for the first week or so. A clean multiplayer launch is the small exception rather than the norm, especially for one that didn't have a beta or any stress tests leading up to release.

Hopefully they're listening to feedback and fixing these issues. If they just left the multiplayer a broken mess well...that'd be pretty unusual.

I've played about 4 hours and I've sort of cracked my way into the real game at this point. I'm working on getting Eos set up.

First impressions -- I can't speak to the full experience with only having barely scratched the surface, but all the pieces seem to be in place for a great Mass Effect game. I've grown to like Sara Ryder very much. I'm using her default appearance, which -- awkward gifs viewed in isolation aside -- I feel is very good. Normally I'd customize my character in any game that allows it, but this game has terrible customization. Absolutely terrible. That's my only real criticism so far.

Combat is fun -- I'm the infiltrator class, and I'm able to dash about and stealth. I'm specializing in pistols/SMG.

The game also seems to have a great variety of weapons with more interesting designs than ever before.

Finally -- The game is beautiful. I don't care if there are some awkward animations. That's nothing new to this type of game.

It wasn't really on my radar but I think I'm sold. I look forward to playing the game beyond the trial.

Oh, and there's a girl Garrus. :o

If this is indeed the final Character Creator (Game Gods don't let it be so), man what a huge downgrade from DAI. Unbelievably disappointing. One of the default female Asians can be made to look quite good, and I'll be happy to use her as my first Ryder. That was after I tried to customize another default with zero luck. Not a game killer for me, but man I loved the depth of DAI's creator.

Other than that, I really have enjoyed my first hour or two in the game. Hardly noticing any of the "jank" people are so obsessed over, and the writing seems fine and feels like Mass Effect to me. Shooting feels like ME3 which is fine as well. Powers feel awesome. I'm very pleasantly surprised with MEA so far, and I'm pretty sure I'll be getting it soon.

As the poster above me said, this game is indeed beautiful and I'm playing on One. Loving the atmosphere and art style.

Is the VA and animations anywhere near as bad as people are being dramatic about?

No. It's a little funny/janky here and there, but nothing out of the ordinary for Bioware.

Overall, I really like Sara. She (in terms of her default design) has a very distinctive look in terms of her mannerisms (specifically with respect to her facial animations) that really really reminds me of someone and I can't put my finger on it. It might be Supergirl. Not sure.

I think vanilla Sara Ryder is super cute in a nuanced unusual yet very attractive way.
