Mass Effect: Andromeda - EA/Origin Access trial coming March 16th - 10 hour trial

I agree, I've taken a liking to their design. Especially like the kinda monkey-like faces. I do hope they'll be more complex than the collectors. I'm hoping they turn out to be less evil than they at first appear.
I love that the whole scene
was free of any dialogue. The emotion and weight of that scene was carried entirely by his/her movements and expressions. Plus that music tho!

So my computer keeps turning off every time I try to take the tram. Happened 3 times in a row.

Any idea how to fix this?

I'm running on a 980ti at 1440p, btw

I'm not the only one having issues with skipping conversations am I? I read faster than the voice speaks, so I like to skip through conversations. And sometimes when I skip it skips the next line too

Enjoy the game, just needs patching a LOT. Seems like EA rushed it out of the door after saying "no more delays".

Well its been five years. Honestly it seems all the talent has left bioware. Delays wouldn't change the outcome when they are reusing animations and can't make a decent cc.

Them saying they'll maybe patch the cc won't amount to much

i was playing the trial on pc. and the game keeps getting stuck at the 1st loading screen during the "a better begining" quest.

this isnt because of the trial right? its an actual bug that entirely prevents me from making progress 2 hours in.

good job bioware...

Honestly anything they can patch for this character creator in the 1 week until release won't be anything substantial.

I wasn't even inspired to make my Ronald Mcdonald Ryder because the character creator was so god damn limited and nothing came out hilarious enough

Give me more make up and more skin tone options. I want to make him dispense burger justice throughout the galaxy

Really enjoyed exploration on Eos and there's still a ton of it I haven't seen. Like a lot, it's what I hoped for in a sequel after Mass Effect 1. I'm in for the full game even with it's jank, I find it endearing and the gameplay is really fun to me. Looks really beautiful at Ultra and 60fps on PC, very pleasing to look at. Can't wait to see all of the other planets.

How does that in any way show that this was rushed? LOL.

The post was unclear as to what he wanted to argue about. As to it being rushed-

-Multiple animation bugs
-AI bugs
-DOF bugs
-Sound bugs
-Connectivity issues with multiplayer
-CC being half-assed
-hard crashes
-Regular PS4 version being borked

Is that enough?

The trial includes the full game, right? Might be worth checking out before I buy.

There's a cut off point in the single player it doesn't let you go past, but you're free to explore around as long as you want. Definitely worth checking out for yourself for such a divisive game.

What is the problem with the regular PS4 version?

I'm really enjoying the game. The combat is a lot of fun. The story setup seems interesting. Pretty much all the humans are unattractive but the aliens look good. The bad facial animation doesn't really bother me (giantbomb went on about this way too much). Definitely still going to buy it.

On pc btw.

Don't forget the dad likeness is only mimicking the male preset equivalent.

Even when they're different races.......

If you pick a hispanic girl and the male number equivalent is black, you get a black dad.

Definitely check out the trial if you have it on pre order, I didn't really believe the negative comments about the game thinking "nah, maybe they just don't like this style of game" but after 3 hours of playing I just can't stand the game anymore. Writing is beyond awful, voice acting is just not good for most characters, facial animations are really as bad as everyone says, and the story is just not engaging at all.

I'll pick it up in a few months when its $20 on PC and give it a run I guess but I just don't feel like playing any more of the trial after 3 hours, and thats not something I ever thought I'd say about a mass effect game :(

and yeah, skipping convos was a huge issue, there is like a lag between hitting the skip button and the actual skip or something.

Crosspost but I really want you guys opinions on this -

I love the combat but this might be the first Mass Effect game that I do not play on insanity. With such a huge world and so much to do it just feels like I get bogged down in really difficult encounters.

My main problem is that I've yet to play a shooter that managed to do high mobility and high difficulty well at the same time besides Vanquish. Insanity kind of feels like it defeats the purpose here because even though I am a vanguard with healing melee, charge, and backlash, I get completely shredded by even basic enemies and still have to resort to cover most of the time like everyone else. In ME3 I never used cover after getting charge and nova, and I prefer that wild style.

So super fun but think I will play on normal.

That's almost certainly a glitch that is going to get patched fast.

My biggest frustrations thus far:

a) It is taking about an AGE to download this demo, as a result you may be able to play from 42% but even when it was in the 50's it's near unplayable...

b)There is not as much customisation as I thought there would be ie like facial hair..

c.) As mentioned previously the whole setup of EA Access/Origin is messed up one account should be able to function on 2 different systems...

d.) Keyboard controls are cumbersome..

if you are playing multiplayer, for godssake pick a power class to start off with. pointless to use cloak and such when your starting weapons are garbage. combos are very powerful but even as an adept only shockwave sets them off. pull feels useless, sing/shock is very strong tho.

seems like ME3 where you need to buy basic packs until you get all that stuff maxed out then move up, right? I got a charger 3 and that blows away the avenger i started with and that starter pistol.

shit is bad. can't even take anything seriously with those fucking animations. how can you give a fuck about the story when you are distracted by that. fuck. aint even worth that origin sub. oh and the writing is not looking great either

I was playing on hard and brought it down to normal. With no health regen and the difference in damage, I want to be able to have fun not be in cover 24/7

Loving what I've played so far, Fryda Wolff is killing it as Sara Ryder.

You can get some nice looks out of the CC I think:

If anyone wants my sliders for her: Preset 1

No offense but everyone is going with the same face and hair in that Ryder thread :p

Problem is, that's EVERYONE'S face if they chose that preset. The CC is so bad that within each preset the only noticeable differences between each player's Ryder are the hair style and eye colours. And when you choose the same hair style... well here's my Ryder:

His cutscene at the end of the tutorial level was really impressive. Minor spoilers in case you or others haven't seen it yet:
The complete absence of dialogue, and showcasing his emotions purely through animation, was probably the best thing I've seen in this game yet. I completely got what he was feeling without a word being spoken, in a game with dialogue so dodgy at times I often have NO idea what human characters are feeling even when they do speak :P
IDK, I'm kinda feeling the opposite.
Big bad alien leader with a comically evil cape? Sure, whatever. But the scene lasts for like twice as long as it should've, as if players would be too slow to pick up on what was going on if they literally didn't spell it out to you with dramatic camera angles and lingering contemplative gazes. No subtlety whatsoever. To me, it only stands out because everything in the mission beforehand was lacking gravitas. Characters are spouting nonstop one-liners right off the bat with some pretty major events getting drowned out by combat scenarios. :(

Agree about the lack of dialog being a nice way to introduce something, though.

Girls seem that way.

Guys ryders can look dramatically different.

I think they dumbed down the character creator from what they could have had from Dragon Age: Inquisition because so many people were asking for the ability to share CC codes which is impossible to do with a character creator like in DA:I.

I think they took a gamble and thought more people would want that feature. I love Bioware but they have a history of taking feedback or fan suggestions and going 180 degrees in the opposite direction to accommodate them. If there is a way to make the CC more complex while not complex enough that codes can't be shared then they should have done it

To be honest, I'm not sure what to do. I'm thinking of waiting on reviews and see how it pans out. I'm going to play it, eventually but I don't think I have the time right now and The Ringed City is out around that time too.

I assume I can cancel now and my sub will be good for the remainder of the month.

I expect their new sub numbers to be huge this month with suckers like me.
