Mass Effect: Andromeda - EA/Origin Access trial coming March 16th - 10 hour trial

Only played 3 hours so far. But after being VERY worried by the feedback from people watching streams and all those terrible gif I am pleasantly surprised. Most of the concern are seems valid and the game could use some patches and but I'm having fun despite all of that

Just remember this is bioware montreal first game they've created of course it's going to be some hip ups but wish the original team did it though. Do wish they can delayed it for a year i can wait that long. Most people would too.

Sacrilege! Kaidan was the most sweetest and sensible jar of mayonnaise I've ever dated in video game, and was a level-headed contrast to the rest of the romances.

...I'm now kinda confused and hungry.

Kaidan's ME1 romance was blaaaaaaaaaaargggh, though. Fingers-crossed for Vetra being a good one, and though I wasn't a fan of the Blackwall romance from the same writer, Isabela is one of my favs.
Okay, fine, maybe...chipotle mayo. :P

And, yeah, Isabela stole the show for me in DA2.

The scene I remember most from that entire game was when she was at a clinic bitching about magic because it couldn't cure venereal diseases or something. Was looking for the quotes online but couldn't find it. Maybe I'm misremembering, but it doesn't seem that far off from something she'd say, lol.

What is your apex level I think that's how matchmaking works so if it's high you won't be able to find anyone.

My apex isn't high at all since I've only played a few matches. I'm trying to host again now since the game I just joined had everyone rubber banding in despair until we all died. I eventually stopped trying to move and used the time to mute each new player that came in with their open mics on.

I found the best Sara

What is the secret? I need to know.

uh...how would you propose that he does that?
Your helmet literally shatters.

Share his helmet
... :S

He puts it on her... take it off her before you blackout and put it back on till you catch your breath. Repeat for 3 minutes. Nah...I'll just
die now instead
.

I can't believe EA(check that, yes I can...) doesn't offer a digital code for PC Origin Access. You get a ton of Xbox One options but no PC.

I wanted to gift the PC Origin Access to my brother and there's no way to do it(and he already used a previous free trial).

And before anyone jokes about "it's only $5", he's disabled and money for him is really tight. :(

Some of these moments during the trial makes me wonder why people think it isn't a pretty game. This is a shot I took personally today and not one of those unreliable promotional bullshots.

This is the final Ryder customizations I chose to play through the game with and I think he looks good, both still and in motion. I've found you have to be careful with the jaws and cheeks or talking will always look janky and odd. I tweaked it A LOT as well as his twin but the final result looks far and away better than my original Trilogy Shepard.

Finally here is Alec Ryder inheriting features from my custom Ryder and I think he looks great too. That was a nice feature.

Yeah, from what I have watched it definitely can look great. Especially gameplay on a planet. I honestly am expecting a mixed bag at this point with many highs and lows.

The game is honestly fine the more I play it.

It's just exactly what you expect. It didn't improve on anything, it lacks in other aspects, and it just feels a bit uninspired as a whole. I feel like I'll enjoy it but after Zelda came out and it was amazing this has left me a bit disappointed.

Any chance you can grab his Origin login info and make a one time purchase for him?

Edit: Make sure you remember to cancel before the month is up if you do that!

notice how the both of them are conscious? Considering the protag
almost dies anyway because of getting their brain fried
introducing oxygen deficiency would probably be a lethal mix.

You can survive 4 minutes without any oxygen.
They were arriving in 3 minutes. And just as you put the helmet on, you can take it off, I didn't hear any voice activation to unlock the headgear (which would be dumb) nor was there a tongueprint sensor (also dumb, need to be able to remove gear off others in case they're unconscious).

smh smh smh SMHHHHHH

Yes, I understood what you were saying, but that doesn't work when you've got someone that isn't capable of actually holding their breath because they're already unconscious.

Had my fiance try it out after she's played the original Trilogy 3 times through. She got really defensive at my criticisms the other evening but after trying it out she's really bummed by the character creator for creating female characters since it's almost impossible to create a fair skinned character, and all the hair options look unnatural with huge brown roots showing. She didn't mind traversal as much as I did but she's not feeling the controls for swapping weapons/melee and the cover system. I think we will wait for reviews.

I see what you mean but I wouldn't say it didn't improve anything, it appears like it's actually pretty radically different on the field. The mobility significantly changes combat and traversal and the game is focusing more on exploration in general which has been missing since ME1. Ditching paragon/renegade is also going to be better in the long run since it basically nullified the entire purpose of having dialog options, but the trial doesn't really get to any part that flexes what they could do with it yet.

But the character/cutscene stuff definitely feels dated as we can see from the gif thread. Though I've seen a lot of that cherry picked on average it really isn't improved from last gen which is disappointing. Still there's a massive amount of hyperbole with people outright calling it a disaster already. Only thing that is straight garbage is the character creator and the tired face lady.

Overall after getting to the trial's end I feel like anyone who liked ME before will still like this all the same unless the planet exploration stuff ends up a bust, can't really get enough of a look at it with the structure it stops you at.

Yes, I understood what you were saying, but that doesn't work when you've got someone that isn't capable of actually holding their breath because they're already unconscious.

So you're saying it wasn't just the lack of oxygen but an actual toxin of some sort that poisons you... maybe.

You can survive for awhile w/o oxygen but you're likely to suffer permanent brain damage shortly. You can't bring an unconscious person to hold their breath.

This doesn't even go into whether Alec even would have stayed conscious long enough to do so when he also got his
brain fried by remnant tech.

No, I'm saying that that complaint is actually terrible.

Some people are trying way too hard to try and paint literally everything in a negative light because...???? whoi knows, but it's fucking pathetic.

You get brain damage after 4 minutes. You still breathe when you're unconscious.

So you were saying it wasn't just the lack of oxygen but an actual toxin of some sort that poisons you... maybe. Only explanation other than terrible writing. Original pathfinder must have been smart and not willing to risk the possibility. Or pretty dumb. Should have checked her vitals.

Pretty sure there were other people that could hold their breath there with helmets too iirc...

That's not what I'm saying at all. Intentionally obtuse much? Even if she POSSIBLY could live, that's a pretty big leap of logic to say it's stupid not to go "Oh, well this blood relative may live if I do this, this person I care deeply for" is literally stupid or bad writing. Fuck off with that shit. Might as well call literally every piece of fiction and nonfiction in the universe trash.

People give me feedback on the Multiplayer how is it compared to ME3? And how is the performance?

It's great, runs great for me on a midrange system.

You have to admit that scene was contrived. It's not the worst thing ever but at the same time it was very clear the writers needed this thing to happen and were pretty lazy when deciding how to get there.

This is ridiculous nitpicking considering we have very little idea what the atmosphere is even like. Seriously?

It was a trash pretty big moment. Sharing helmets was painfully obvious with how he just fucking did it.

You still breathe when you're unconscious, that's why putting the helmet on works. :/

And there were other people with helmets on too :/

It's not contrived at all though.
Father sees his child's breathing apparatus essentially explode in front of him, unconscious, hears that it's going to be several minutes before any hope could possibly arrive, he doesn't immediately go "Well, it's possible we could both survive with brain damage if I can manage to alternate breathing supplies and..." Cause that's not how people work in the real world even if it were the right decision (and it's not given the circuimstances).

After playing a little bit it's making me appreciate Gears of War even more. Nothing about this movement or third person shooting is smooth at all.

I'm not talking about the details, but the approach the writers took to that scene in general. They clearly needed
the dad to die
and instead of doing something interesting they just went
hey what if the alien thing explodes for some reason and her helmet breaks but not his and then he sacrifices himself
.

It's all just kinda eh, in my opinion of course, if it worked for you then great. For me I didn't care about anything that was happening. Dude had been on screen for all of five minutes.

Ive been noticing a lot of this aswell. People who havnt played the game are passing along the negative impressions theyve heard while people who are playing the game are for the most part enjoying it (as far as i can tell).

So what's something interesting then? It might just fall to subjectivity, but I'm finding your complaints definitely nitpicking.

It was a poorly written scene. It's okay to admit it.
