A Compilation of Hilarious Animations in Mass Effect Andromeda

I feel like if Mass Effect 2 came out in 2017 we'd just see the same seven gifs of bad Shepard smiling, dancing, and being janky as fuck and reach the same conclusion as people have about Andromeda, which is that Bioware games have never been great at animation, games have bugs, and people are on a crazy hunt to hop on that meme bashing train.

This isn't to say that the animation quality isn't poor, but it's being hyper-analyzed to a level of scrutiny that no game could survive.
But...it's an RPG. It kind of needs to have decent VA for it to sell the story it wants to tell. Sure animations are shit and bugs happen, but this is a AAA sci-fi RPG. If lines like "my face is tired" is considered good then there is no hope for selling the game's story.

I still can't believe that made it into the game.

In about no way, does an rpg need "VA" to sell its story.

Good writing = / = VA . Some games with incredible letters/documents (Lost Odyssey), others with text bubble (Zelda, CT) etc...

Here the problem is that they decided to use the bad npc / dialogue for most of their story telling. The VA isn't that bad outside of the few awful characters. They're a small part.

Well I'd argue it's not a small part of the game at all. These are main characters, hell even your actual main controllable protagonist is abysmal with VA and writing. Yes they go hand in hand but when you fail on one it usually hinders the other. This is definitely the case in the Mass Effect series where it's all about VA.

My point was less about ME2 literally coming out in 2017 and more about that game having a ton of issues that could be thrown in a similar meme-y compilation thread but still being a good game regardless.

There is no way you will see this many bugs in the first few hours of Mass Effect 2. That is just wrong. There are literally dozens of these things. They hinted at this on Podcast beyond too. Before the Early Access. Alanah played it at Bioware and said it was buggy as crap.

Lol wat

So how's about something positive for a change?

I think Peebee actually looks fine here. A huge improvement from her Shrek-like initial appearance. The VA is solid as well. Yeah, the eyes are still dead, but it's certainly better than what has been shown before.

What if......this game is actually good after the intro?

Having a hard time seeing who's the alien in that conversation lol

It happened with ME3 too. It was pretty clear this would happen again and will continue to happen.

So can't critic the game, post animations gifs because some assholes will run with it to attack the devs? Might as well delete all gaming forums and ask people to stop streaming the game too.

You don't notice Superman passing by Cora? :p

The eyes in this game are the weirdest things. Like they're cutouts from something else that were pasted onto the faces. They just don't belong.

My quick attempt.

She looks like a human being now. I realize now how much freaking makeup she has on in the original. Just doesn't fit the setting or the type of character

Not to be a dick, buy you must have had a thought this would happen eventually when you created a thread based around shitting on a game (for fun).

....wow. How could I predict that harassment and gamer bigots would happen? I didn't even expect the thread would be alive still when I compiled the threads. It's one thing to talk about the continuation of the thread now that serious despicable shit has gone down, and a whole another thing to claim that I should've known or predicted that this would've happened.

Sorry but you're both wrong and out of line, imo. If you knew that gamer bigots would do this shit, you should've contacted me or the mods and have the thread closed. Instead you didn't do anything even though you apparently both predicted this would've happened.

In the meantime I'll contact mods and let them decide what's best now that this has turned ugly.

Ah another day another round of funny gifs I hope. Lighthearted and pithy. Fun loving and playful. Come on Gaf you can do it. Lay down your hate and let the fun flow.

You did absolutely nothing wrong. You created an awesome thread for some good fun. Morons will take anything and twist it's purpose for their twisted intentions.

The writing is fine.

The animation spoiled it.

Yup, animation spoiled it.

Think of anyone (in real life or film/TV), who says someone is cute. There's always at least a bit of emotion across the face. A good role is not just the words or how they're said, but body language - which, in this case, is animation. And this? Mute the sound and they could be talking about the weather.

Pretty sure it's more than just the animation that ruins it. I've felt more emotion from still images in visual novels. Though the animation is pretty terrible.
