His own attorney Brandon Sua seems extremely excited about the prospect of some media attention, posting photos of himself in court to Twitter and Instagram and retweeting news about the trial and compliments from War Machine supporters.

True- The lawyer knows this and is grasping for straw. By pleading ignorance he hopes it can favor War Machine. I can see it now- the defendant being a fighter, having rough sex with a professional adult star "confused" war machine. Maybe argue that she had it coming because she read 50 shades of grey. I've been on a jury - a hung jury even. You like to think people are rational. They are not. Some people are stubborn. Some people are generally highly skeptical. Some people won't convict without a literal smoking gun. Some people have unrealistic expectations of what constitutes evidence despite judiciary instruction. Some people do not understand that "beyond a reasonable doubt" does not mean "beyond all possible doubt".
