Surely this GIF has never been more appropriately used.

Wait, so that's it? Obamacare stays for another year at least?
And who's this freedom caucus? I'm out of the loop.

The freedom cacus is a wing of the republican party that refuses to compromise on anything. They're the craziest of the crazies. It's their way or the highway. They're the reason the republican party is so powerless on big things. They have a sizable block of votes and can kill pretty much anything the republicans try to do. They wanted straight repeal with nothing to replace. They didn't get that so they refused to vote for it. So by being uncompromising assholes they saved obamacare for now.

I feel that this helps him more than hurts him. Instead of a bunch of people that voted for him losing health insurance and voting against him later, the status quo remains and come election time this is spun into a positive that those people will eat right up.

Won't ever happen. America is so far behind the times still.

I agree. Gloating is not a good look for dems right now.

4 weeks ago we were convinced GoP unable to pass what should've been a slam duck bill wouldn't ever happen.

7 months ago we were convinced Trump wouldn't ever happen.

10 years ago we were convinced Obama would never happen.

Just sayin...

He looks like a supremely ineffective President right now

Yeah, but if you voted for Paul Ryan, it's likely because he talked about Obamacare so damn much. His inability to remove it despite having literally everything in his favor is absolute gold for any of his opponents.

Yeah but in campaign mode next year. He will say it was Trump's fault if he is smart. The ship will start sinking even more when they have to start making a run for their seats.

the republicans have been actively been working since the ACA became a law to make sure it fails. If they had worked with the Dems it would likely be a pretty decent system at this point.

it is very likely they will continue that and hope they can just pin it on the dems even though most people just blame the people in charge.

The bolded is my concern. The GOP has been master class at brainwashing and blaming others and making it stick, along with Trump now. The people that have always seen through it still do. I've yet to be really convinced that the moderates who voted Trump and GOP in will open their eyes though. They have bought a lot of shit in the past, and with it still being called Obamacare I feel like they can still successfully shift blame.

Now watch as Trump and Co. start magically shifting blame to the dems for not cooperating on a new bill.

This was a very rejuvenating break from the Russia scandal. Watching Trump fail in real time makes me very happy.

Now back to the mounting pressure of investigation *wrings hands*

I will give a free prediction as well.
if it does most people will blame the people in power for not preventing it, people always blame those in power as to why things happened.

This has to be the political end of Paul Ryan, doesn't it? This was his thing. This was his whole fucking thing.

I hope so, he is really the only republican that scares me for 2020.

It will likely work on the majority of their supporters, but with each passing day it seems like more and more people are waking up to what is really going on.
I have multiple coworkers that either didn't vote, or voted for trump that are actively horrified with what the administration is doing. they can try to pin the blame, but the fact is they have full power and people expect them to do something.

As written the law is in a bit of trouble. There is near universal concensus to this point. Whats troubling is the new blame game brewing seeing as the R's seem content in letting this die.

The Democrats can come up with proposals to tweak and repair the ACA still, which is really the best case scenario.

If the GoP refuses them, then the blame goes back to the GoP for political spite.

That's how you play this game.

The law is not in trouble, as the CBO put out a report declaring it was stable.

This was as recent as last week and the link has been posted.

My big fear now, they "starve the beast" to make Obamacare severely underfunded so people turn against it.

Watch for them to underfund it or cut its budget in sneaky underhanded ways.

How come Dems never hammer the point that Repubs have done things that specifically hurt the ACA and have made it worse than it would otherwise be?

So now Republicans are in complete control of the government there's no longer a "tow the party line" policy? Huh, didn't see that coming frankly. I thought the whole point of Republicans was "party over all".

Mexicans not paying for wall
Wall getting financed probably not happening either

...he's got an uphill battle to get re-elected at this rate

If you can't even get your own party that reports to you to give you what you want no well in hell can you force a sovereign nation to pay for a damn wall.

he still doesn't understand that will be on him now

.@SpeakerRyan convinced Trump to pull the bill over the objections of VP Pence, Bannon & Mulvaney, a senior administration source tells me

https://twitter.com/JDiamond1/status/845371676800028676

Ryan trying to save his own job.

is this the first time the HFC actually won something? other than getting rid of Boehner? they usually fold -- like when it came to electing Ryan and the promises he immediately went back on

So will our Congress immediately start working on new healthcare legislation? Because Donald's not completely wrong about Obamacare. As it stands, there's no way it can survive as our system for that much longer.

The dems can officially defend Obamacare with what it HAS and people will understand why it is essential.

for real, they need to start touting this thing & fighting the DEATH SPIRAL nonsense, this was a victory

HEY PAUL, YOU"RE WELCOME FOR STOPPING YOU FROM KILLING THOUSANDS OF AMERICANS. RANDIAN FUCK.

hahaha this was my feeling too, so hard

Don't gloat Dems. get your shit organized and come up with means to fix the ACA.
Make that shit public and give them no choice but to sit and deal.

is expanding medicaid to everyone really that complicated though?

he still doesn't understand that will be on him now

he very clearly doesn't

Bannon wanted that hit list and to humiliate Ryan.

Yup. It's clear as day pulling it was Ryan's choice. He knew he didn't have the votes and is a giant baby and doesn't want to appear a loser. Granted he still does here but yea. Trump wanted that list of votes so they could go on the attack against anyone not falling in line with them.
