More of a nostalgia/memory association thing for me- CV3 is the only one of the first four console releases where I wasn't able to play it much as a kid so while it might be a superior soundtrack I lack the memories that really elevate (personally) some of these classic soundtracks.

Not sure but they seem to have mutual distribution agreements in full for the time being. I would be surprised if that didn't continue throughout 2017 at this point.
