Just beat the game there.

What an incredible experience.

Lmao at the music in the credits have that weird cut in it like the original trailer.

Ending Question:

I did all the memories, all the main quests, got the Master Sword, yet I didn't see the scene with all the spirits looking down from Hyrule Castle. What did I do wrong?

EDIT:
It's because I skipped the credits. Goddammit!

How many memories did you do? As in a number.

I'm in two minds about this. One the one hand, it's a good quest to save for late in the game when you're all powerful, because then the contrast is especially big (and at that point many other quests are getting easy so having a challenging one left is nice).

On the other hand, Eventide isn't that hard once you have a bunch of hearts and (especially)
the special powers you get after beating each divine beast
.

wait... Eventide is supposed to be hard? I only have 6 hearts and thought it was easy o.O

I've had this game since day 1 and I just realized TODAY that those little pinwheels spawn Korok balloons, lol. I never made the connection.

So shit, i was going to tackle my first divine beast in the gerudo area, but im reading know its the best area.
Can someone tell me without spoilers from worst to best in which order do I tackle the divine beasts so i can finish with a good build up?

Regarding the story and the way it's told: (mild spoilers, mostly about the telling of the tale rather than the tale that's told)

I think the way the story is presented fits perfectly within BotW's overall design philosophy, where the keyword is unobtrusiveness. The bulk of the story is told through the Captured Memories, with Zelda's diary and research journal, as well as her father's, filling in some very important blanks. And setting those 100 years in the past so that they can be either ignored or pieced together in any order is a great move, somewhat reminiscent of the innovative and equally unobtrusive way Metroid Prime handled its story/world building.

That said, the plot overall could have been stronger. It's probably the simplest, most straightforward telling of the Link-Zelda-Ganon triangle since the original Zelda, with every other version offering more in the way of twists. I do like the characterization of Zelda, even though the voice actress in English partially ruins it. But a better balance can be struck between no (mandatory) story and completely story driven... even if, ultimately, I like this balance (though not the story itself) better than those in the other games.

If that makes sense. :)

Can I get a hint for finding the (equipment spoilers)
Hylian Shield? I haven't heard anything about it in-game but I don't want to just look up where it is.

I prioritized Stamina with one or two hearts until I got the second stamina wheel. After that I've been going full hearts.

The mountain climbing outfit has been the MVP through out the game. Plus it's pretty stylish.

I've been making steady progress, went east after the Plateau. Kakariko, Hateno, Zora's Domain as I imagine most players do. After that first Ancient Beast I've been scouting most of the land and my next AB is set to be the Rito one.

The differences in stakes between the Zora
starving and whole of Hyrule getting flooded
and the Rito
just not being able to fly high up near their village
. Haven't boarded the beast, trying to find some Cool Safflina first.

As for eating, I'm surprised you don't have a fullness meter of sorts that won't let you eat if full. But at the same time, the less hassle the better.

So, even if I did mess up my experience of the ending somewhat (though still a good ending), I must say that after finishing the game that I've had an experience I will remember for a long time to come. The game has flaws, quite significant flaws, and they sure did hamper my enjoyment at times, but no game is flawless and none of my favorites are as well. Since opinions on the internet have to come with them, I'm giving the game a
9.5/10.

Now, time to finally venture past the first few pages of the spoiler thread.

Depends when you visit it. I went there by mistake when I had only 3 or 4 hearts and felt impossible. Visited again with tons of stamina and it was easier.
I went there with four hearts and had no issue. I was just really careful, scavenged a bunch, and prepared a ton food. And I didn't try fighting you know who, hah.

Hylian Shield? I haven't heard anything about it in-game but I don't want to just look up where it is.
It's in a
central location and to the North, surrounded by towering walls. Or you can buy the new Zelda Amiibo.

Rito first and Gerudo last. Zora and Death Mountain do different things better than each other so either order should be fine. I'm told the build-up to Zora is amazing but I skipped it so I personally find Death Mountain to be a little more interesting than Zora. Much of Rito and Zora is practically identical so you may want to do Death Mountain in between to spice things up.

My personal order was Zora, Rito,Gerudo, with Death Mountain last which makes for a painfully underwhelming progression.

I have started with Zora and now I don't want to go through the dungeon. Do you guys think I should try the other Divine beats? I am sick and tired of the rainy area of that place.

So, has anybody from the speedrunning community found a way to leave the Plateau without the paraglider, yet?
I'm still not sure if it has been officially confirmed by Aonuma that this would be indeed possible.

I'm pretty sure ice rune down the waterfall works.

Thank you!
I really like Zoras on the zelda games and really like the designs here (so my idea was leaving it last) but now that I know Gerudo is the best and Death Mountain and Zora can be anywhere in the middle, i will leave it for before last after death mountain and before Gerudo.
Rito first it is!

Decided to slowly close things out with this game and finally entered the Gerudo area and wow, it's almost like a whole new game down there.

is there a way to buy ancient cores or to get them easily? or to trade in giant cores for several normal ones? i need around 10 additional cores to upgrade the ancient armor set to level 3

Finally finished Kass' quest. What a payoff. Loved it.

Those who missed or ignored this quest... may the light illuminate your path.

After I beat the game the first time I thought, "OK I'm satisfied, no need to go run around and do extra bits." Thankfully I did go back and complete his quest among others. Worth it.

tip, dye it red to increase badassness level by 100

spoiler

I dyed pants and chest red, headpiece black. It's so neat that the paint markings on the skull actually change patterns in different colors.

just discovered how to surf on a shield. everything else is on hold. i'm gonna just spend a load of time sliding down hills. sorry zelda you gotta wait.

Today I discovered that while surfing on a shield, you can accelerate or brake by pressing up or down. I thought the speed was entirely controlled by the slope and material you were skating on, but nope.

So is there any reason for limits on how many gear upgrades you can get in a day? I mean, other than the game just being annoying for the sake of being annoying.

This is the first time I've heard of such a limit and I've often gone on 10+ upgrade sprees with no issues. Are you sure you aren't running out of materials?

Can you kill
dragons
or do they just exist to harvest
scales?

You can't kill them, but try
shooting arrows at their claws or horns
.

My amazing wife picked up a switch as a surprise! My first Nintendo console since GameCube, i was supposed to buy Horizon ZD but looks like I'm going to be busy haha. I tried hard to focus on my backlog (playing through Dues Ex MD atm) but couldn't stop watching Zelda videos, my wife picked up on this and bought it. I'm a huge fan of 3D Zelda so cannot wait to get stuck in.

What i did was go out in front of hyrule castle, bring like 15 ancient arrows. Spot a guardian walker -> save -> 1 hit ko with arrow -> check drops -> reload save -> kill -> repeat until it drops your core.

The drops arw random each time you reload and kill it

I prioritized exploration over combat in this game, which worked well mostly, except now I have two additional full stamina bars but only 8 hearts, so
I can't get the master sword until I find a lot more shrines or spend rupees to have the evil statues transfer stamina
. Still, being able to basically climb anywhere is pretty great.

So, now that I've played this game a crap ton, I still don't see any reason for Ganon to be called Calamity Ganon. It feels really awkward and corny? It doesn't add anything to him as a threat or concept. It's kind of redundant, really. He's always been a calamity. That's his whole point in the timeline and narrative.

I slept on the quests at first but they're pretty fun to do to be honest, even if there's not really great rewards...I legitimitely think seeing how they play out, and how they inspire you to explore areas you'd otherwise pass over, is good enough a motivation. In a way it's old-school and I can understand folks not enjoying them though.

I pretty much cleared Gerudo Town and got the
Lightning Helmet
which was neat. I wanna go and collect all the Super Weapons/Equipment like that now before I finish the game, though I'm not sure where to start since the other towns didn't have an obvious "do all the side-quests" mission to get the goods.

Oddly enough this is ganon at his least threatening and actually taking him on is probably the most anti-climatic its ever been.

The music in this game is so good. So, so good. It is deployed at just the right time, and gets the mood right in every instance. What a masterful accomplishment.
