Do you guys still play the game after completing the main quest?

I'm about to finish it and I can't wait to be able to tackle shrines, sidequests, exploring, Master Sword etc without the main quest looming over my head. So relieved to get it out of the way!

The game got better to me after the main quest.

I really wish I had played in Pro Mode HUD from the start and just freely explored as I do now.

Looking for the shrines without using the guide is like

1h0PD8S.gif

Pssst, do anyone have GIF of Link remembering the past (Where he opened his eyes)?
I spent like 5 minutes going around one of the shrines in the Akkala region only to notice I was
walking above it all the time (the entrance was on one of the cliff faces)
.

Question about beating the game and the ending:
I haven't beaten the game yet but I feel like I heard you can unlock a bonus scene somehow. Is that true? Is it tied to finding all your memories or completing every shrine?

So, only 5 shrines left and my game clock is approaching 170 hours. 283 korok seeds... I'm not going to be going for 900. I'm loading with amazing weapons and shields. I'm throwing out top tier stuff I got so many ;)

Just get all of Impa's memories. I just got the full ending, only doing the Zora dungeon.

It reflects the laser back at them to do damage?

Yes. Use any shield, hold the left trigger and
the second their eye and "face" turns blue, parry
you have to do this three times, but even with a badly damaged shield, your shield will not break if timed right. Takes a few goes for practice, then the first few kills are a ton of fun. After that you kinda wish it wasn't so easy.

Yeah I have been. I am sort of lukewarm on end game content. Basically, every discovery is essentially for a shrine or korok seed-there isn't really anything else that rewards you for exploring. So in that sense its sort of become stale, in a sense. I have found some cool new areas but again, all for a shrine reward. Hoping the DLC brings some new dynamics for that aspect because I seriously want to spend more time in this world.

I was like that at first but something clicked at some point for me and now I am just loving exploring in and of itself. Still have plenty of Shrines to find so it doesn't feel like a chore, I just stumble upon them and Korok Seeds just come naturally.

There are so many parts of the map I still haven't explored. I'm even starting to enjoy beating up enemies for the sake of it, whereas when I was on the main quest I was avoiding enemies more.

Don't know about the two last ones, but the
Trident can be crafted after you destroy it. Once it's destroyed (requirement) you can ask the Zora crafter to rebuild it for you. You'll need a regular Zora Trident, a diamond, and some other stuff for him to do it.

I haven't come across those other two weapons mentioned, but I assume they work the same and come from the geruto and Gordon crafters cause theres a rito bow you get that can also be reobtained after breaking by a rito that crafts it for you.

Awesome, thank you.

So this is a special reward weapon potential breakage question:

I just used the camera to add the
Lightscale Trident
,
Daybreaker
shield and the
Scimitar of the Seven
to my compendium. Interestingly, these articles can supposedly be refound on the map and are searchable using the Sheikah Sensor.

In the case of the
Lightscale Trident
, it can supposedly be refound in the
Lanayru Great Spring
area. The thing about this is that it suggests that somehow, these weapons spawn at these locations and the locations aren't just flavour text.

For instance, the common locations for some of the
Guardian Scouts
or
Yiga Clan
just straight up say "unknown" because they can't be refound on the map in definitive locations.

My question is, has anyone broken these reward weapons and refound them again?

I am very interested in the answer to this. I am sitting on the trident and scimitar right now because I am loathe to lose them.

Me too. Don't want my Compendium to remain unfinished :(

You can make them again at their corresponding towns.

Does the Master Sword make the Ganon fight much easier? I stumbled across the thing and now I'm not sure if I want to use it lol, it seems too OP

I thought I was done with the game after beating the final boss twice and getting all shrines/sidequests. Then somebody here mentioned the presence of a minigame I didn't do and I realized I missed out on a handful.
Snowling, Boom Bam Golf, Foot Race, Horseback Archery (First try success!).
. Charming little things the lot of em.

Each time I've come back to the game after thinking I was finished I've fallen in love with it again. This time I climbed to the very peak of Hyrule Castle after neglecting to the first two times I was there and it was really cool. Running out of stamina, desperately reaching for the top as I'm mere inches away and leaping for it was so epic. Particularly because I made it!
And damn there are even multiple entrances to the boss room above the main entrance. I fucking love that place.

Korok seeds are getting a lot of grief but I love them too. The fact that I can be 140 hours in the game and still find them scattered EVERYWHERE is great. It adds a constant feeling of reward, however small. And I'm sure there are entire types of korok seed puzzles I didn't discover.

There was a time about 35 hours in where I was just so annoyed by the game's framerate that it really took me out of things. It was the most disappointed I'd felt about a Zelda (my issues with the Switch itself made it worse even if they're not Zelda's fault). But man right now I'm just thinking about whether it's my fav Zelda of all time or not. It's definitely up there.

I still don't have the
climbing chestpiece
so I'm looking for that.

Hit 230 korok seeds so I'm calling it a night. I really hope Nintendo doesn't pull this shit again.

Pun intended?

Finally found more than half the shrines today. Gonna try to hit 100 before doing the final beast. Then finish out the rest before heading to the castle.

Also I appreciate the Cedar Tree quest in Hebra now that I know how you were supposed to do it, and seeing the solution for myself. That shit's straight outta Pokemon Snap and it's great.

I don't mind the 900 Korok seeds, you just gotta realise they made it so you only need half of them for a reason, and not go full completionist with them.

I'm gonna do all shrines, side quests, max my equipment etc, but only half the seeds, I don't want to drive myself mad.

Just finished the Typhlo Ruins sidequest. Amazing.

(I guess spoiler warning the experience?)
I entered it from the wrong direction, by gliding into it from the eastern Death Mountain side (where the Bokoblin outpost was). I was just like, "What is this giant black area?" and glided over kinda stupidly. When the message came up, I was still in the air over the bog, causing me to land randomly in the dark and grope around confusedly for awhile, with only a Meteor Rod on my back as lighting. It took me a minute or two to remember I was carrying a torch as well and that I could just light up some grass for a light. So then it was a few more minutes of wandering frantically with no guidance (while wolves circle me!). And then finally seeing the glowing ball and the pedestal, and excitedly realizing I was at the end... Until the sleeping Hinox came into view, giving me a legitimate, "I want to go home" moment. He wasn't very hard, but I love how ridiculous that challenge is when you come across it.

My understanding is that there is a more guided way to do it with torches along a path but my more chaotic entrance ended up being fun.

I really liked Typhlo Ruins' gimmick - it was a little too short, but still a nice change of pace. My biggest complaint was the use of the regular battle theme - the Lomei Labyrinth music was already not the best fit for its tone, but the regular battle music absolutely skewers the atmosphere. They should have used the Divine Beast generic combat music - it's underused as it is, and would be much less jarring.

What does that mean
Quirky comedy relief side characters evidently have no place in Zelda, I guess?

You need about 150 of them really. After a while you're just passing your inventory.

I found my last fairy
Gerudo Desert
a while ago but just recently paid her off, so I'm finally starting to upgrade my gear more.
Man, some of the final upgrades give huge defense boosts. I'm now three times tankier than I was before.
I'm somewhat disappointed by the set bonus for the
barbarian
armor, I don't see myself benefiting much for that. Oh well, I think that armor is ugly anyways and would rather use something else, hah.

do the
flaming/electric dragons have a purpose besides dropping scales? I think I'm ready to fight Ganon and finish the game, but I havent discovered how to fight them or anything, besides the corrupted one. Want to take care of all the major side quests and mini bosses first.

No.

All minibosses, if you want a list to make sure you have them all:
Stone Talus
Igneo Talus
Frost Talus
Hinox
Stalnox
Molduga
Master Kohga

I'm finally out of the
tropical forest
area in the
south-east.
Thank god. Hated the constant rain/lightning hell.

Not really. The
corrupted water dragon quest is basically the tutorial for how "dragon farming" works and the other two don't have quests associated with them (well, except for a shrine quest - you'll need a scale of each of them to access their respective shrines in the same way as you did for the water dragon).

Beyond that,
the dragon materials are mainly used for certain higher level equipment upgrades. You can get scales, fangs, claws, and horns off them depending on where you hit them with the arrow.

I'm lazy, tired and the switch is down the hall. Just thought of something.

If I had the switch on the table and a joy con in each hand, how does the game deal with the motion controls stuff?

I've only ever played in handheld mode or using th ed grip.

is there a way to buy ancient cores or to get them easily? or to trade in giant cores for several normal ones? i need around 10 additional cores to upgrade the ancient armor set to level 3

There is a guy just south of the entrance to Heteno Village (on the path near the woods, i think his name is Tamis or something similar - he wears all grey) that sells ancient parts. If you go to him whilst it is raining he will comment how vendors only put out their best parts when it is pouring down. He will sell you 1 measly ancient core during the rain.

For the rest, I found the best solution was to head to
Akkala region and then just south of the Spring of Power (i think) there are three flying Guardians
which you can save scum to get them to drop ancient cores after hitting them with a single (x3) Ancient Arrow.

I had an absolute torrid time trying to get major test of strength and roaming guardians outside Hyrule Castle to drop Ancient Cores, to the point where i just gave up after save scumming 5 or 6 times in a row and never getting a drop.

Remember everything resets after
a blood moon
, so you can go back and farm where you had the most success.

The motion control is in the right joycon only then.

Last night I made the most progress in a single play session so far. Spoilers, just in case.

  • Visited Hyrule Castle for the first time, just to explore. Found a whole bunch of good weapons.
  • Visited and unlocked Gerudo region, though I only did the nearby shrine.
  • Speaking of shrines, found and completated ten, including the much-discussed electric circuit and constellations ones.
  • Made my way through the Lost Woods, found the master sword (though I need two more hearts to claim it), completed the ice rod and blupee side quests, began the trials, used my 90+ seeds to considerably expand my weapon, shield and bow slots.
  • Discovered 17 Koroks.
  • Completed the royal guard weapon, white horse and several other side quests.
  • Located three memories.
The silver lining to being up all night with a poorly baby dozing on my chest. Sleepless nights are much easier with Zelda to play!

Yeah, if you're short on equipment then patrolling the borders of the castle is a pretty good idea. That said, I was tempted to go inside but felt I'd wind up getting to Ganon when I don't want to. The inside of the castle looked really, really cool though.

A bit. The point is that during the fight is is empowered(glowing) with 60 instead of 30 damage and likely not breakable. So it's less of a drag than regular weapons.
