I hate that the fairies dont show you the mats needed if you cant make any upgrade :/

They do? If they don't show you the materials means that you haven't
unlocked the other sisters
but after that they appear.

It burns me that I need STAR FRAGMENTS to upgrade the Tunic of Twilight T_T

no I mean if you dont have any mats on you, they just tell you "cant do shit now fuck off", you cant see what you need for the stuff so you know what to farm

just found the
third one
too just as I talk about this lol

All shrines completed.
Tunic of the Wild
fully upgraded. A few side quest stuff then off to the Castle!

I just finished Kass' quest.
When his song transitioned to the fucking theme man... Almost made me say fuck side quests, lets end this.

It's kind of a good thing that I had
Revali's Gale
unlocked at last because that would have trivialized a LOT of the Shrines x_x

Oh! Havent' encountered this problem since I always have something that needs upgrades.

I just watched the Making Of BOTW videos, and I saw stuff in there I didn't even think of trying. 100 hours later, and I'm still seeing (and reading about) things that are totally brand-new to me. That's just way too cool. :)

But if you ask them to look again, they will let you see what you need. Is your complaint that you have to ask again?

It has been raining for pretty much 24 hours now and the forecast is solid rain. I've walked around this mountain but can't climb it unless the weather backs off :(

I've been hearing from a few people that is rains a bit more than necessary in this game.

Got over 80 shrines with two sections completely unexplored and some of the central area disregarded. Nearing 300 Koroks as well!

I also did a little excursion inside Hyrule Castle since was going to go for the Royal equipment stuff from the sidequest and a cutscene just popped me in a different place. Fought a mini boss and got
The Hyrule Shield
as a reward. Does it
break? How do you replace it?

What I find odd is how little armor sets I've gotten so far. Feel like people are getting much more for some reason. Bought the Hylian, Shiekah, Soldier and Rito Set. Have also gotten the Zora, Berserker (? The one that boosts attack), Climbing Set, Rubber Helm and Legs and an Ancient Crown (or something like that). I get that I haven't been to Goron City or Gerudo Town, so that's 2 more sets but still. Are the other found in shrines?

Anothet quick note on Kass' quest/the reward for finishing the shrines!

When him and his daughters are all singing together, I talked to the daughters. One congratulated me on getting the Tunic of the Wild for finding all the shrines! Are there other NPCs that do this?

Talk to them again and they'll let you look.

Had this happen to me last night.

You could be in an area that's always raining until you solve the shrine
(there's on with those mushroom thingies, and one off the southern cost around Faron)

There are some places that have a constant rain/thunderstorm until you finish some shrine within it. Getting to the shrine is part of the puzzle. See if you can climb some mountain further away and make your way from there.

Man, I did everything and I still can't get him to show up there.

Where are you? There are a few locations that are always raining, and one big area that will always rain until you do a story quest.

Got over 80 shrines with two sections completely unexplored and some of the central area disregarded. Nearing 300 Koroks as well!

It breaks, but it has very high durability. You can buy a replacement once it breaks if you've finished the Tarrey Town questline.

This is helpful in Hyrule field.

Not so much in the mountains of Hebra or the Gerudo Desert or the jungles of south Faron.

I know that there is a certain charm in navigating via landmarks and it can be done much more easily in Zelda than in other games, but the compass is the sole reason I don't use pro mode anymore. Everything else is useless clutter. The compass, for me, is essential.

I wouldn't even need the minimap. Just give me the compass with the weather forecast in the middle or something.
Yup, they should have had a list of UI items individually to toggle. As good as the game is the person in charge of UI dropped the ball a lot.

Responding to the interaction, not to your question:
So you only talked to the daughter for the first time after you already completed 120? You must have seen a different interaction than I did. Because if you finish the Kass quests and the singing sisters' quest, then talk to Genli before you hit 120, she promises you a reward once you clear all the shrines and tells you to come back. And when you do, she reveals that the big reward she had in store was a message of congratulations. Then if you talk to her again, as though you were expecting something more, she wonders why you look so hungry.

Man, I did everything and I still can't get him to show up there.

There is one Kass riddle that does not involve the shrines. You can figure out where it is from the clue that tells you where all the Kass riddles are, which you should have come across by now if you have finished all the shrines.

Second divine beast down,
Rito
one. That... that wasnt very good was it? Certainly not compared to the
Zora
one :(

Hopefully the remaining two are better. A question:

Just as teaser,
Rito is by far the weakest, so you shouldn't be much more disappointed.

It has been raining for pretty much 24 hours now and the forecast is solid rain. I've walked around this mountain but can't climb it unless the weather backs off :(

More than one area has rain intentionally until you complete a certain puzzle in the area. Thunder Wizzrobes can also cause rain apparently, though probably only when you're fighting them.

The shield can break but is extremely durable, so it's tough. But yeah, you can re-buy it from a special merchant who also sells other hard-to-replace items.

Yeah never had that interaction. I did the
singing sisters quest as my last shrine.

that moment you realise if you hit a downed tree, thats how you get wood >_>

stupid logic! >_<

also, using bombs on trees is a goddamn revelation

Okay, I guess early game spoilers, I will spoiler them although I don't think there are many spoilers in my post. More just confusion on where the fuck i'm going.

Alright, so. Done one Divine Beast (Water temple) and then tried Death Mountain but ran into a Guardian, got annihilated so backed off that and decided to go somewhere I hadn't been yet. Eventually after a long time of walking, I arrived at Gerudo Town. I am now on the quest to get the ancient heirloom back and have wandered back out into the desert. Nothing is now showing on my map of where to go whereas before all four Divine Beasts were there. I've done one and now have no idea where to go to find the other one as I obviously know where the two are (Death Mountain and Gerudo Town) and I just don't know what the fuck I do next. It's literally spinning me in circles and I don't know how to get back on track! Feeling awfully lost. 7 hearts and 1 stamina upgrade, if that's any indication how far I am in.

You can enable markers on the map if you go into the + menu and press L then select what you want to show up (Main Quests, Shrine Quests, Side Quests). Hope that helps.

Well I sold it and got a motionplus remote w/ nunchuck and Skyward Sword so I can finally play that.

I found most of the components (such as the world, enemies, characters, physics) extremely well-crafted, but it suffered greatly from control and menu mechanics and technical performance. The traversal element of exploration was top notch, but the overall open world format in terms of the kind of events and experiences you find was terribly vapid, often repetitive, and unfulfilling. The story was also far too melancholic, sucking all the punch out of nearly any meaningful event, then made worse by awful voice acting. Both of these made me not even want to go out of my way to find more story scenes.

Overall I give BotW a 7/10 and the only reason it wasn't a 6 is because of the quality of art and animation. Among the bottom-tier for Zelda games in my book.

only lack a little more than a dozen shrines to finish the game (not even gonna try to get all the korok seeds), but i must say those last shrines are really well hidden..i even decided to start using the sheikah radar to find the last ones but he has been stayed mute since i started using it.

Not done until all 900 korok seeds are found and all armour is max upgrade, including all the amiibo ones.

This is going to be a real grind....

I find it funny how Zelda is rocking the yoga pants + boots look in this game. They really went in with the "she is a teenage girl" aspect of her character this time.

I dyed my hylian pants black so we could match. Should have been the default.

Here's an idea for continuing your adventure, the path I took at the point of the game you're at:

If you have the quest to get the Thunder Helm back, head north to the Yiga Clan Hideout. You can rent a sand seal to get there faster. You'll find the hideout in a valley near a shrine called "Sho Dantu". If you haven't already, I'd also get the quests done in Hateno with the Ancient Lab before venturing too far, as you get a Sheikah Sensor, Stasis and Bomb upgrade as the quest line progresses (maybe it's not possible to skip the upgrades by the point of the game you're at, so you probably did this already).

Yeah, I did that one.
I officially did all the shrine quests(heard all his songs), all the side quests, read the diary, defeated all the Divine Beasts and he still doesn't show up in Rito Village. His diary doesn't update and he keeps popping up at the Rito stable instead.

The horse auto maneuver is a BS mechanic outside of trails.

Yes, Highland Horse race. Yes, doing the track backwards. Already completed once, but trying to get the horse head gear.

Question -
I just beat the lyon dude with the shock arrows that the Zoras told me to. Man that was a fun and super hard battle! I broke a guardian sword ++ and a guardian shield ++. I also ate almost all my good food.

But now I see the divine beast is just below me. Am I supposed to go down there directly or should I go back and talk to the Zoras first?

I feel like I need to gear up again I haven't fought any divine beasts yet
.

Have you done the
singing sisters quest in Rito Village? That's the only thing I can think of, unless the other singing quest counts too.

Sidon is waiting for you by the Divine Beast.

Kass and his kids are the best quest chain in the game, and probably one of the best I've seen all year in general. It's short, sweet and full of personality for a bunch of minor characters. And the kids are adorable.

I know that its a number that ultimately should not impact ones enjoyment of the game, but the game has 60 perfect scores (65 with combined systems).

We tried gloating over it before and that didn't work out (shocking 🙄), but it is a testament to the sheer quality of this game, and that is most certainly something to appreciate. After the fallout of GTAIV and the growth of more independant gaming journalism, I had a hard time believing we'd see such universal praise again.

Anyways, awesome to see more and more folks starting this amazing game, and reading their experiences, struggles, and victories! I love how this game allows for some passionate discussion.

We still need a "favorite new character" thread though. 🤔

This is crazy!! I have been playing for over 100 hours, 2 guardians down and still have 1/3 of the map to uncover and I just realized that I didn't explore an entire area that I have already revealed. It is the entire area around the Faron woods tower smh
