There isnt much to tell. And PS4 Pro event is a good example for that.
Its not a whole new console. Its still gonna be in the Xbox One family, some specs we know already and they cant really show alot of games. Because thats E3 for and they said so themself. A Nintendo Direct thing would be alot better.

Agreed about the Nintendo Direct thing, I would be fine with that too. I would hate it if it's only a few articles and a few videos posted online. It's a bit unclear what Jez means here.

At this point it would only make sense to call it that. Plus it sounds great. Not that it will take away anything from the system if it's some lame name but Scorpio just sounds awesome to me. And I doubt people are going to mistake the S console for Scorpio.

Agreed, and it's nice to see that unlike what people believe they will stick with the Xbox One moniker for next consoles as well, instead of getting rid of it as soon as possible.

I agree, with a small event you cant demonstrate 4K and HDR because of the quality of the stream and the non-HDR displays you watch it. The games have do the talk and the place to do it is E3 where you can ensure media and visitors can see native 4K and HDR in full effect.

Exactly. But I still think they will announce a different and much more lame/standard name. I think Phil did say it wasn't going to be Scorpio last year. Things can change of course.

He's hoping for a Jaguar victory in the Scorpio.

Never. I'm team Ryzen. On record. Predicting 1-2 million Scorpios sold in 2017.

Jags are my football team.

hopeful

The current headset situation on the xbox one is a joke, turtle beach is the only company that can truly offer a wireless experience. However if they allow bluetooth for chat, it means my new Siberia 840's can be used completely wireless as well.

I refuse to buy another headset after how much I love my 840's

My Astros are fully wireless, though chat quality sucks. Comfort and sound quality are too good to go back to controller wired headsets though.

Scorpio being the power of a gtx 1070 roughly plus the added benefit of dev console optimisation and console no fuss nature. Also hopefully costing no more than a PS4 Pro. Would people even bother buying or building a PC when graphics are already going to be amazing. I wonder.

Not sure if serious but of course. Graphics and performance can always be better and as long as there are options to do that on PC then there will always be a market for it.

I'm already looking at building my next PC and I have a 1080, 4690k at the moment. Its actually the Scorpio that is pushing me to do it if I'm honest.

I disagree. Its as much of a new console as any other new gen console. New specs, new features, new everything. Next gen or not, this is most definitely a new console, enough to be distinguished as such anyway. In my mind what youre describing would be like MS having a huge event simply for the xbox one s. Totally different.

Just noticed in the latest Digital foundry video John is over in England for some reason? maybe lining up with that scorpio info next Thursday or Colbert mentioning a exclusive interview. John has often lead those deep technical dive interviews.

how does onemanasylum know when someone bad mouths playstation

He uses IBM Watson cognitive computing applets scanning all posts about shit talking on Sony. It is as easy as it gets. Just sign into IBM BlueMix today and use those cloud service APIs to make your own scanner.

joke, but technically true and feasible right now

Do you own the latest A50s? I have been interested in getting those until I decided I couldn't justify for myself to spend more than 300 euros on them, especially when mic was crap quality. I went with the Turtle Beach 420x Plus and was surprised how good it sounds.

It's just a shame that there are many wireless headsets out there that all work fine on PC and PS4 but just aren't fully wireless on Xbox One. So far it's only Astro and Turtle Beach that are completely wireless.

The PS4 Pro reveal was fine. It was after E3 and Gamescom and before PSX so it wasn't the time for new games. I liked the focus on nerd stuff with Cerny and then the interviews with developers showing off their Pro content. Low on bombast but high on information for those who bothered to watch all two and half hours of it.

Also the Scorpio will have the same problem as the PS4 Pro; low bit rate SDR streams on Twitch or YouTube don't do 4K HDR justice. If it's true that Digital Foundry have the exclusive that might be a smart move, they will put high quality captures and analysis out there. I trust them to stay objective.

You can all say that in a 10 min video with Spencer and people who made it. A whole event for some specs we know already half of, new features? and "new everything" no sure what that means btw is way to much. The console is still gonna look like a Xbox One family console. Spencer said so himself so that is not gonna be real surprising also. Only big thing is the price really.

I said before just a quick 10 -15 minute video would do. Give the detailed specs and maybe show Forza 7. Save everything else for E3.

They don't need a 1 hour plus 'event' just for the hardware reveal. Sony's was dull because it was too long and the hardware was hardly exciting to begin with.

Yeah I don't think they should do an event. 10-15 minute video talking about it and the specs, show a few upcoming games on it and Forza 7, a few existing games. Maybe announce the price, or save that for E3. Don't do an hour long presentation

Phil said on the IGN podcast that the reason the space looks smaller at E3 is because they got rid of all the big useless screens running trailers and meeting rooms to replace with nothing but game stations where it's nothing but tvs and Xbox to play games. This is going to be so much better than the usual floor setting in the past and what Sony will do. Important since this year the event is public with lines of gamers wanting to play and not watch trailers on the show floor

How a console 4.5X times more powerful than the previous hardware can be considered in the same family ?

This looks like a Next Gen XBox if you ask me, and its graphics will make X1 looking like crap in comparison. Also, after 4 years, you might expect a next gen Console, like 360 after XBox. Ok 360 was much more powerful then the original XBox, but Scorpio too will make X1 looking very sad and last gen graphics.

And too bad for MS, PS5 will blow Scorpio away.

Lots of smoke all of the sudden. I don't think Scorpio needs its own event. Would much rather have multiple vidocs focusing on just the main features that highlight the console. Give me a video on specs, OS improvements, 4K benefits, 1080p benefits, etc.

Let's hope next week brings some news.

But Scorpio 2 will blow ps5 away

My KS8000 has a 4k YouTube app, so as long as they upload it in 4k it will be great. They should have an event at the movies like PlayStation for those without a 4KTV.

The A50s are sooo much more comfortable than the 420s and the sound quality is better. 420s have better voice chat though. I returned the 420s to get the A50 and I have that hooked up to the TV via optical and to the XBOX via USB so I use it for both wireless TV watching at night and gaming.

Yeh being serious man. I've got an i7 Asus gtx 1080 ftw gaming PC but man it gets expensive and tbh graphics have got to a point now where it already looks damn good and no amount of extra power gets it significantly better. I've also got a PS4 pro and Uncharted 4 graphics is better than most of the PC graphics Ive seen. A Scorpio is going to provide enough fidelity as does the Ps4 Pro so I can't see any point to keep investing in upgrading my PC. My opinion of course.

Because they said so? Its still gonna be a Xbox One. There are no exclusives for it. It runs all Xbox One games and controllers etc.
