SEGA teases Bayonetta + Steam, countdown to April 11

I hope that within the first week of release someone makes a mod that lets us skip right to the Jeanne 3 fight without doing the Space Harrier section.

For their Revengeance port Platinum themselves actually added in checkpoints before the bossfights that you could select from the main menu. Hopefully they'll do the same thing here.

Bayonetta is so old. If Sega prices this port at $40, I need at least arbitrary resolutions. I'm not into Bayonetta at 1080p/60 unless it's less than $20.
Rising was $30(?) at launch and that was a much more timely port. I would be very surprised if Bayo was $40. Then again maybe Sega will try to capitalize on our frothing demand.

It was 20$ actually.

But on the other hand, it was a Konami game and not a SEGA one, so that isn't necessarily indicative of Bayo's pricing.

Tho they'd be insane to charge more than 30

The only way this is $40 is if it ends up being a PG/SEGA collection.

Neither of those things are happening. I fully expect it to be under $30.

Well that's a relief. Hope they won't ask Kamiya to sign off on it because I could totally see him demanding that everyone repeatedly play through the Space Harrier section just to get to the best boss fight in the game.

Seriously, that man loves him some Space Harrier.

Valkyria Chronicles was 20$ with a 10-20% launch discount, right?

A 10-day countdown to announce a near decade-old port is ridiculous. Why not just come out and reveal it instead of making people wait? To "build up hype?"

I suspect it's not a countdown to announce a game, but to release it

So if the game is releasing when the countdown ends, will there be a way to confirm it through Steam DB or whatever before it's officially revealed/released?

Nice. Hopefully a PC port can do well enough to warrant a multiplat rerelease on current-gen systems. Bayonetta is a game that deserves to be loved by as many people as possible. And it deserves another chance for PlayStation fans to get a not-shit port.

Too bad the 2nd game will probably never get the same opportunity... Although if I'm being honest, I do think the original is a better game despite its numerous flaws.

I hope that the port supports arbitrary resolutions and arbitrary frame rates. That said, even if it's locked at 60 fps the game will still play better than it ever has before.

Just want to say that Bayo 1 is much much much better than Bayo 2. At least when it comes to depth, replay value and just completely absorbing everything in a game. Bayo 2 sure has its moments and for a casual playthrough it is definitely the tighter game, but man... I was somewhat disappointed by how shallow it felt in the end. Slightly more on topic; I wonder if Platinum themselves will be handling the port or not, hmm... Did they do NieR: Automata in-house?

They did, and it was the first time they offered arbitrary resolution support, so we should be safe on that if they're handling Bayo themselves.

And I read that a lot about Bayo 2, which is very disappointing. I guess the game suffered from not having the original director. And I don't really care about W101, so I can't even look at it from the "at least we got a new IP from Kamiya" angle.

I played through the PS3 version years ago then recently tried to revisit it and the performance is bad. Very bad. Will buy a Steam version that runs solid at 1080p/60fps in an instant.

I put off Bayonetta for so long and then I found myself without a 360 to play it on, so it just never happened. Now I have a competent PC so I would love to give it a go now.

I'm prepared for it to only be the first game but still kind of disappointed. Even though I prefer it to the sequel, albeit only slightly.

it's probably not going to be bayo 1+2 even if you ignore the nintendo stuff, sega isn't going to fund 2 ports together, they'll likely just fund bayo 1 and see how well it'll sell

This Bayonetta 2 nonsense is still continuing, I see.

It's because Nintendo. Ever since the Wii it is all but illegal for a dude bro to be caught dead with a Nintendo system. Breath of the Wild barely a month old and people are salivating over CEMU. Someone mentioned CEMU got Bayonetta 2 as well.

For them, anything but actually purchasing a Nintendo system.

I've got a friend's Wii U that he's lending me because he's in Hong Kong for a year and a half. Bought Bayo 2 and Breath of the Wild for it. When he comes back this summer and takes his Wii U back, I'm going to hold onto those copies and play them via Cemu, and that's fine.

I'll buy it just to support more Sega games on Steam. I was pretty satisfied with the WiiU version, but I love cataloging my games on PC.

Hope to god eventually Vanquish makes it too!
