The back is non-removable, but you can add a micro sd card. It's in the same spot as the Nano SIM (top of the device, accessible with the use of the tool that comes with it or a paper clip.

Ok, Thanks. I have a GS7 so the sd card would be in the same place then.

The AKG headphones/256GB for $99 is valid on all pre-orders correct? Just wondering because it's not advertised on Verizon but T-Mobile mentions it. Want to make sure it's not a carrier deal

It's available to everyone. Go to http://samsungpromotions.com on the 10th to submit a claim.
On the 10th? Isn't it after you receive your phone on the 21st?

OMG, thanks for this. I wrongly assumed it still required NFC and nobody around me seems to have those terminals. I paid for my beer with my watch tonight, promoting a funny conversation with the cashier.
The best exclusive feature on any smartphone right now.

Oh my gosh thanks so much for this man! I was gonna preorder it at T-Mobile and was sad when I thought it wasn't available to me.

Now to see if the headphones are of good quality!

probably can google around. I can't imagine there are too many akg bluetooth headphones worth $150?

Sadly (and strange) that the gear vr is free for US residents only.

Last year Gear VR was free with the preorder of S7 in the MENA region...

Well I'm glad its for US only. I'd rather get the wireless charger and sd card for preorder here in Asia.

Could i buy one outright from AT&T and have them unlock it right then and there?

I'm wondering this, too. I know a lot of carriers unlock phones now, but can you just do it right after you get it? I would love to get the VR headset for free, but I really want a GSM Unlocked phone.

We have the GearVR+controller promo in Canada as well.

Had a chance to try them out with my buddy up at Best Buy - they had multiple display models out of both the S8 and S8+ in the little mini "Samsung Store."

Wow. The phones downright play tricks on you. I thought the S8+ was the standard S8, the body is so small. The regular S8 makes my iPhone 7 Plus feel HUGE, and yet the Samsung has a bigger display.

I seriously can't exaggerate how small these phones feel considering their actual display sizes. The minimal bezel makes this phone feel like the most "phone from the future" since the iPhone 4, in my opinion. It helps tremendously that the quality of the display is also quite incredible. BRIGHT, vibrant - typical OLED.

Only hit I can give it is that the bodies felt a *bit* more "cheap" than I expected. It's a little lighter than I'd like - lacks that solid heft that makes something feel high quality, even if there isn't always a correlation. The glass back felt almost plasticy in the hand. Don't get me wrong - build quality and machining were great - just definitely a little less than I anticipated.

I had a chance to use the phone at Best Buy and I have to say I'm blown away by the ergonomics. I have relatively small hands and it's a bit of a hassle to use my iPhone 6S+ because of it's size and I guess the way I hold my phone. I grabbed the S8+ thinking it was the S8, that's how shocked I was. Then when I got a good look at the device I saw on the demo screen it was the + model. I then used the normal S8 and it just melted in my hands. It definitely did NOT feel like a 5.8" device, I thought it'd be better in the hand than the 6S+ but I didn't think it'd feel this much better, it's fantastic. I am now a huge fan of 18:9 phones (yes I know the S8 is slightly taller aspect ratio) and hope that trend just continues in all future phones. I guess it comes down to the way you hold the device and for me the taller screens isn't a big deal where the width of a 5.5" 16:9 screen is a bit of a struggle.

Leaning towards getting the Orchid Grey color now that they're leaving the front of the phone black on all the colors. It looks more like a gunmetal color which I like.

Gear VR is also the promo here in Australia.

Sad that it isn't for the MENA region, guess I'll poke around and get them to give it to me :P

That has been the case since Galaxy S3, S2 was plastic as well but felt, a bit better. The S4 I owned was completely light, felt cheap (I don't like light phones, I like weight on the phones but not too much).

Don't know about how the Note series compares to the normal Galaxy S line in terms of plastic as I never owned a Note....

Samsung's Twitter account confirmed the Galaxy Note 8 is still happening.

The Galaxy S8 is the first in a new generation of OLED Smartphones that have a Full Screen Display design. It has many major and important state-of-the-art display performance enhancements, features and functions, with mobile OLED display technology now advancing faster than ever. The Galaxy S8 is the most innovative and high performance Smartphone display that we have ever lab tested. So the Galaxy S8 becomes the Best Performing Smartphone Display, earning DisplayMate's highest ever A+ grade.

Edit: and they confirmed the S8 is indeed using a Pentile display although it is a Diamond matrix Pentile which is the best kind: Link

You have to have the phone in your possession to submit.

On mobile, so can't get copy/paste to work 100%. This is from Section 3B of the terms and conditions.
Ahh ok.

Has anyone been able to find a side by side size comparison pic to the regular Pixel? I just keep seeing the XL.

Is pentile the reason some phones have visible rainbow streaking at certain angles? I've seen that on some phones and it's awful.
And wow that screen gets bright. I know some people who use their phone really bright and I can't stand it. But I'm more sensitive to light like that.

I'm not sure if rainbow streaking is caused by pentile display's or just the type of glass and process used to fuse the glass and display together, but the S8 got an even better score than the S7 regarding color shifting when viewing the display on an angle so it shouldn't be much of an issue anymore.

Regarding the brightness, the S8 also has a mode called Super Dimming which allows the brightness to be turned all the way down to 2 nits without affecting the color accuracy:

The Galaxy S8 also has a Super Dimming Mode that allows the Maximum Screen Brightness to be set all the way down to just 2 cd/m2 (nits) using the Brightness Slider. This is perfect for night use on a beside table, and useful for working comfortably without eye strain or bothering others in very dark environments, or affecting the eye's dark adaptation, such as when using a telescope. The display still provides full 24-bit color and the picture quality remains excellent.

Really stoked about super dimming... My wife always complains about my phone being on while she's trying to sleep, even at lowest brightness.

I'm about to order the S8 through my company but I'm afraid of the battery life. Only praises for the S8+ and not the normal S8 :(

Switching a bit from phone talk: I've been looking at reviews, but can't seem to find samples of stills from the new Gear 360.
I assume the Ricoh Theta is still a better option?

Just ordered an S8+ on the Samsung Upgrade Program.
Sadly though it looks like I've missed the early shipping for pre-orders, as my order says expected to ship on 28th April.

Still annoyed that UK pre-orders get nothing yet from what I understand the US gets a free Gear VR for pre-ordering.

Preordered the S8 for Verizon. Excited is an understatement. Going from an S4 to a 6s+ and now back to this. Also, don't the AKG headphones come with the phone regardless?

EDIT: was the 128GB/ 6GB RAM S8+ talked about. Man that thing is expensive, but so nice.

Thanks. In that case I might go ahead and spend the extra 99. So is Spigen the cases users are buying?

I've been buying Spigen for years. Fantastic cases, and really great prices.

I had to stop by my T-Mobile earlier to add my mother as an authorized user, and the T-Mo rep said he is hearing that Samsung may start shipping to them on 4/10, and they will then ship to their customers. High grain of salt, but knowing how Samsung is with releases (I got my Note 7 about a week before official launch), this could be possible.

Spigen rugged armor is my favorite phone case these days. Looks OK but mostly they age well.

Any good brands for tempered screen protector? Any good ones in the past for S7 edge?
