Honestly, I did the blackout thing by accident a couple of times and I like the potential leaks on GAF to reveal hype train way more.

The surprise factor only works for a handful of games and even then, the initial surprise never really lasts long enough to be memorable in retrospect.

There's an aniticipation that builds when a trailer is unveiling as you try to piece together if it's something else or coincides with a leak but when the "reveal" happens, I still get that same rush of excitement.

Spiderman by Insomniac is a good example of this.

I can only go on a blackout for new Pokemon games (aside from the starters). Avoiding GAF and my Twitter feed in their entirety is too much.

This generation Horizon Zero Dawn was the best reveal so far. Nice cinematic introduction and crossing over to gameplay, simply great and the game was exceptional in the end too. :)

Last gen Uncharted 2 reveal at E3 was crazy and pushed Uncharted to another level.
And Naughty Dog did it again at E3 2012 with gameplay reveal of TLOU.

Because of the original setting of Horizon but think about God of War, similar gameplay reveal but with an orchestra playing the main theme before the demo. Spectacular.

The crossing over to gameplay was my favorite part. Because I'm sitting there thinking, "Cool, can't wait to see more," and then the gameplay happens and I'm like, "Oh damn, I get to see what this game is!"

Last year's conference was glorious. The orchestra was an amazing touch, integrated so seamlessly with the whole show, without bogging it down. It will be hard to surpass.

I think I'd only want to go on Blackout if I went to the Theater to watch the conference, it'd be a neat experience not knowing what's going to happen. I hope the theater's have been expanded more. In Pennsylvania, and the nearest one to me last year was an hour away.

What other areas in pa had one? I know in Philadelphia we only had one theater

Yeah that was epic.
But Horizon as a new IP was more important and left more of an impression.

I ask myself how Sony will follow up last E3? PSVR integration for the press conference? ;)

Heavenly Sword 2, Enslaved 2, DmC 2. I'm cool with any sequel from them... I'm cool with any game from them period.

I'd actually be all for Heavenly Sword fully adopting the old God of War style: fixed camera, amazing visuals. I feel like the new GoW will be great, but I still enjoy the old formula when done well.

Didn't Heavenly Sword already have a fixed camera?

But yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing a Heavenly Sword 2, especially since they seem to have gotten some decent experience working on action games now.

Heavenly Sword and War of the Monsters are my PlayStation dream sequels. I'd be shocked to ever see either of them return... but I do think Heavenly Sword is possible. Unlike my beloved Monsters :'(

This or a
PlayStation Battle Royale reboot/sequel
are what I want to see the most.

I really think it'd be a good time to start developing a WotM sequel imo, they could easily capitalize on that upcoming King Kong vs Godzilla movie.

It's only my favourite PS franchise :P

Yup, that was amazing. Even though there were few leaks and many were expecting GOW to be there....i dont think anyone would have expected it would turn out to be something like this.

Probably towards the end of the this month/first week of may is when we'll start getting heavy leakage, although I hope it doesn't go as bad as last year where entire conferences plans were leaked.

I expect 2 surprises from Japanese developers in Sony's conference as it happened for the last two years.

So ive been thinking about sonys release schedule for remainder of year and beyond:

Im thinking we get ni no kuni 2 and hot shots in sept, grand turismo (not into it) in oct/nov, and maybe knack 2 in nov/dec (knack/knack 2/ crash trilogy ps4 slim for black friday at 199)

Feb 2018 is spiderman ps4, march 18 is god of war and mlb 18 the show. Days gone may 2018

The biggest question marks are dreams and detroit to me, dreams may have been delayed to simplify the creation tools and work on the vr implement which is understandable because its an ambitious title, and david cage seems to be taking the criticism of his last games while successful to heart... not rush but eagar to get my hands on detroit

Is this a joke? Second Son was pretty repetitive and uninspired, Bloodborne a masterpiece. Which is why I don't want Sucker Punch anywhere near that IP.

Nor FROM for that matter, let them make something new.
Second Son was a rushed launch title, to be fair. Infamous 2 is more representative of what Sucker Punch can do.

Dreams may have been delayed but idk if it was for creation simplification. It seemed fairly straightforward already if anything they keep adding more tools and what not that's why it's delayed

I was actually really digging second son until I realized that what I thought would be the mid-story climax was actually the fucking end of the game.

Idk what happened between 2 and SS but the game felt half as long and half as full of content. The powers were fucking awesome and I liked the story when it existed, but it could have used another year of development. I never finished it when I realized I was in the last level

You know how Killzone Shadow Fall, while a largely competent game, felt kind of bland? And then Guerilla games came out swinging with Horizon: Zero Dawn?

The possibility of the same being the case with Sucker Punch (as in, they had to get a launch game out, but their next project is what they're actually putting all of their passion and effort into) makes me hopeful.

I rememberthem showing the game to multiple sites last year around this time and then they went on radio silence, i assumed they looked at feedback and tried to change somethings. Was there ever a beta

This is what I am hopeful of and it is what I suspect will happen. Infamous Second Son was just going through the motions in order to have a launch/first year game on PS4. I think Sony recognized that too so they let them give it their all for this new IP.

As with GG, Sucker Punch can blossom with the necessary time and resources.

They certainly have had time and resources. The last thing they did was first light and Sony is good about giving their studios what they need. If they can do something new like how GG did with horizon ill be stoked.

Second Son had issues for sure but if nothing else the gameplay felt amazing and it was fun as hell to just run around Seattle with your powers. Whatever Sucker Punch's next game I think we can 100% count on it to play great.

Looking back I guess it did, but I don't think it had that pulled out, isometric-y feel that really benefits the GoW games. That's actually the main reason I'm a bit hesitant about the new GoW. I still really enjoyed their formula. The fixed camera kept the gameplay tight, really allowed them to crank up the visuals, and helped convey a great sense of scale.

Agreed. Whatever people think about the stories or design of their games, the gameplay is always top-notch and really fun.
