Hopefully Marvel steps in to show how it's done.
Ah, Captain Mar...............

Doctor Strange is a C-tier solo hero with 0 brand recognition.
Wonder Woman is already a brand in and of herself.
Tracking similarly to a debut film for a niche character instead of, say, any of the recent Cap films, or ASM, or even the BAD X-Men ones, is not a conducive sign of this being a success.

Boxoffice.com's domestic OW/total predictions are basically what Doctor Strange made.
I think that overseas will be the bigger question mark.
90% fresh. Quote me in two years.Ah, Captain Mar...............

The MCU brand sells those movies alone,
Wonder Woman doesn't have that to fall back on.
Yeah, I don't see this movie doing anything special internationally. I hope I can be surprised but WW seems too obscure a character. Right now it's all murky.Boxoffice.com's domestic OW/total predictions are basically what Doctor Strange made.

Amazing Spider-man opened on a Tuesday so that isn't really comparable.
Reminder that this is Warner Bros, where BvS barely broke even at $870M, so this film will probably end up losing money.

Seperate your personal opinion from general opinion. He did an excellent job with MoS and BvS.
I'm sure they learned the error of their ways and managed to control their budgets for future fi--
I'm sorry, I just couldn't type that with a straight face.
I think you grossly overestimate the amount of clout that Wonder Woman pulls with a mainstream audience. There's like 2-3 generations of people who have no familiarity with the character beyond some Justice League cartoons.
Suicide Squad had decent legs, but also basically had a whole month with no real competition. They both had pretty good legs though right? Seemed like they were in theaters foooorever. So yeah I'd say they had good wom. Second weekend isn't everything.
This is now a Mr Doctor thread? Strange..😏
That has nothing to do with what im saying. And who's fault is that?
It will become about Thor 2 soon.
The cycle is inevitable...
$100 million seems a little bit low in my opinion, but I could be wrong. I'm thinking the budget could possibly be comparable to the first Thor & Captain America films, so around $140-150 million.estimated 100M
SS 175M
DOJ 250M
Yup, nobody care about Wonder Women. Gonna bomb for sure.
It's early for sure, but the marketing behind SS was brilliant. All the trailers leading up to release were fire and people were hyped about seeing Joker and Harley. WW looks good, but the character doesn't have the same appeal as those two.Apparently this outlet predicted 98M for SS... SS opened at $133M.
Way too early to judge anything without a grain of salt.
I don't think it will bomb. But I think it's ridiculous to claim the opening weekend should be as big as a Superman movie or whatever.
Be honest with yourselves, folks -- there are no A-tier DC heroes aside from Batman and Superman.

It did well enough that there are still 3+ more films in production, two helmed by Snyder. I'd rather they have Snyder with his unique style and have bad word of mouth than have some safe, bland, cookie cutter movie .Seperate your personal opinion from general opinion.
BvS didn't review well and it underperformed because of bad WoM.
Snyder shouldn't have been handed the keys to the kingdom.
Is bad characterisation and poor story-telling among the traits of his unique style? I want good DC movies. Get Snyder out of there after JL.It did well enough that there are still 3+ more films in production, two helmed by Snyder. There doesn't need to be a phase 2 with the DCEU, get through Darkseid's herald, throw a few standalones with great villains like Brainiac, the Rogues, and Joker and then wrap up with a showdown with Darkseid. Couple years later send it off to someone else and reboot it.
I'll be honest, $83 sounds extremely optimistic. This could open with half that, and I wouldn't be at all surprised. DC's brand is worth nothing right now, more of a detriment than a boost. Gal Godot is great, but no star. The character is still iconic, but ages away from her prime.
Everything is kinda working against this movie. Add in the low odds it has of even being any good, and my personal predictions aren't going past a $50M opening.
Before MCU exploded, the only Marvel A-lister was Spiderman. And Hulk, if you stretch the definition a bit.
And there were no A-tier Marvel heroes besides Spider-Man and Wolverine, but that didn't stop them from turning the C-List into money making machines.

Suicide Squad made money, but was it genuinely well received by audiences? It made money because of a really savvy marketing campaign, which interlaced strongly with youth markets. The character design, soundtrack, and trailer work are why SS was a modest hit.Their last movie (Suicide Squad) did incredibly well. You have to be living in a GAF bubble to legitimately believe that their brand is a "deterrent". If this were true people would have avoided SS after BvS. Your average movie goer doesn't think this deeply about shit the way forum warriors do. If a movie looks cool, or if they hear it's cool, they'll go watch it. It's that simple.
All those characters besides Black Canary and Flash are low grade...The status of DC's roster can almost definitely change, as it did for Marvel. Though I think they undermine themselves by introducing so many of their characters in a bunch of cheap-looking CW-grade TV shows.
Her theme is great. We are thinking of the same thing right?Threaten to torture the world by forcing them to listen to the WW theme for the rest of their lives unless they show up to watch the movie.
Honestly I don't even feel any type of way for this movie. Just indifferent. Waiting on Aquaman lol
That's subjective. I felt his characterization was great for most of the characters (Luthor was bad) and the stories in MoS and BvS were great and packed to the gills with deep lore.Is bad characterisation and poor story-telling among the traits of his unique style? I want good DC movies. Get Snyder out of there after JL.

It's around Dr Strange and way above Ant-Man, do they not count? I mean they are the last two Marvel solo films we can compare them to.
