Bayonetta out on Steam (4K, dual audio), $19.99, PC launch trailer, dev diary

On PC, you could probably make an AutoHotKey script for ultra rapid fire, lol.

Based PC, though I don't know if it's worth the effort to try to learn how to bind such a function to spacebar, when I can simply just not play that stage :v

(it also has
boss rush
, which magnifies how boring those fights are)

Is this really locked to 60 for people? I'm suddenly getting some terrible performance in this area a couple of levels in:

I get a random dip to 59 a lot and I'm not sure what I should be doing to make that stop happening.

Tried messing around with AA and whatever, but I am playing in window mode with a bunch of stuff on, so it's not like my PC is exclusively running the game, but I don't know how all that works.

Think i heard something about AMD not running as good. I have the same GPU but a R7 1700 and I've noticed it dropping below 60 during combat quite a lot. I'll report back when I get further in as well.

BTW what speed is your RAM running at?

I thought that would only apply to the old FX processors, not Ryzen as well.

2666MT/s here, but I haven't seen more than 4 FPS gain from overclocking that to 3600MT/s in games.

Weird quirk with the AA flag: It doesn't kick in until you run the game fullscreen. So if you're playing Windowed or Borderless, you have to toggle to fulllscreen and then toggle back for it to work in Borderless/Windowed. Have to do that on every boot up as well.

Granted, it's been a while since I've bothered injecting AA, so maybe this is just par for the course with Nvidia Inspector.

Edit: Also, injecting SGSSAA makes it blurry as hell, even with just 2x. Don't know how people are getting such crisp image quality in this thread. Hopin' an MSAA fix comes soon.

Honestly, there's several sequences I wish to not play again in this game lol

(there's this one where you're on a
turret
and it's fucking terrible)

I don't much like the bosses now either given that they're mostly gimmick bosses and I'm more interested in fighting trash mobs where I can actively use my tools...

This is definitely a game where the fights against basic enemies shine way more than the bosses and gimmick levels. Once you've fought the big bosses once or twice, the luster is gone since they're heavily scripted fights. I imagine someone will make an enemy rearrangement mod eventually, so most high level players will probably use something like that over playing the campaign much like the DMC4 community.

My top 2 wanted mods at the moment are 1) auto-win all cinematic QTEs and 2) fast forward torture attacks. The longs ones are so shitty and tedious. Throw in auto-mash for TAs and I won't complain.

I hope there's a mod to buff afterburner kick's hit box and make it dumb/able to launch :v

Yes.

Yes.

It all depends on how mod-friendly this engine is. DMC4, Dragon's Dogma and RE5/6 have mods because the MT Framework engine has been cracked wide open for a long time now. Metal Gear Rising, which is supposedly on the same engine, never really developed a big mod community outside of texture stuff and getting Sam playable in the main campaign. I want mods for it too, but I'm trying to not get my hopes up since it may be more difficult here.

This is my exact problem. In fact, it doesn't seem to matter what I put the settings to; Chapter II and certain parts of Chapter III just shit on my frame rate.

I've posted about this a few times in this thread already but I'll recap: I have an i7 920 and an RX 480. I can run Doom and Overwatch on high settings locked at 60 but for whatever reason I get sub-30 in this game at times. Further confounding the issue is that my CPU usage is only around 30% and it's not even using half the cores.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Chapter IV worked just fine; I even got a pure platinum out of it.

They put 2B in adult webms, so I am confident that the community will find a way ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

(not sure if that's actually how this works, but I want to believe)

Yep, that area ran great. Even the fire area ran great. What CPU are you using? Are you downsampling or trying to force AA at all? Are you playing at native 1080p?

*edit* Saw the AMD CPU, yeah that's probably it as someone else said.

I've had Fraps running to check the framerate the whole time I've been playing. I think I left the MSAA setting on even though it doesn't do much/anything. I'm using 1680x1050 so it's not as pixel-intensive as some people on though.

*edit2* I'm using D3DOverrider for vsync and triple buffering. For anyone getting drops to 30, that's because of vsync. Try triple buffering. I might see 59 sometimes, but consistent 59-60 is better than 30.

It happens at non-16:9 resolutions. We've been complaining about it in the thread, it's one of a couple of issues that I can live with but are annoying.

These are 16:9 resolutions which is why they're fine.

*edit* I'm super beaten, sorry.

but,my screen is 16:9 aspect ratio.

There's other issue besides some cutscenes I've found. You can use NVidia Inspector to force SGSSAA at 16:9, but not at 16:10 (or 21:9).

Which is not related at all to the issue being discussed - picture in picture for film reel cutscenes within that object specifically

I thought you meant "everything else in the game is fine" for non-16:9, not "everything else in cutscenes is fine", sorry. I was just pointing out another non-16:9 issue.

1366/768 is 1.7786458333333333333333333333333.

16/9 is 1.7777777777777777777777777777778.

So you're very close, but not quite the same. I wouldn't be surprised if that caused it.

The only time I had drops was when the game started at 4k with SGSSAAx8 applied.
With 1080p60 SGSSAAx4, the highest frametime I seen during first 30 minutes of gameplay was 17 ms.

2) fast forward torture attacks.

In Cheat Engine you can speedhack in most 3D games. Just set a hotkey for different speeds (1x,2x etc.)

I have a modded 360 controller (connected to the PC through a cronus max) ) with 10 extra buttons modded in, a few of the buttons go to keyboard keys. 1 button for double speed, another for half speed etc.

Fast forwarding through tedious "supers" and many other things is precisely what I use them for in One Piece PW3, Berserk Band of Hawk etc. Not really a solution for everyone though cos they won't be able to get a modded controller like that (I modded my one myself).

We wouldn't need to do this if every game just had an option to skip animations that don't necessarily affect gameplay by holding the circle/b button lol

(in Bayo, I want to skip whip lady torture attack animations to the state I am in after the animation... that shit is hella long)

I understand you want me to watch these animations because a million people worked on it, but let me play the game bro :v

Nonsense. Afterburner Kick is fine as is. You use it in a combo after a launcher, or to move around quickly without burning magic. If you need to open a fight with a launcher, start a combo from a safe distance, then use a Panther Within offset to launch. Off the top of my head, I think punch, pause, kick launches, too.

Just beat it and only now realized I haven't unlocked a single achievement on steam :( I even restarted it after installing the game. Pooey.

Huh, if you wait long enough at the train station in Chapter 1, eventually the train leaves and you can grab a Broken Moon Pearl that was under it.

Never knew that.

I know there are other options, but that shit was super godlike in 2, so of course I miss it lol

You could just walk up to something and get it into a launch state by mashing a plinking motion that has a quick startup and almost no setup (and the hitbox was gigantic).

EDIT:

Actually, I need to go back and maybe it wasn't as good as I remember it, but it definitely was my favorite thing to launch with whenever I got witch time and wasn't in a chain that involved launcher.

EDIT EDIT:

Actually, reviewing some old footage of me playing part 2, a thing I apparently did was cancel the recovery of a helm breaker move into afterburner kick relaunch, among other things.

I like that.

Back when I first played Bayonetta on 360 it was my very first character action game and I usually just ran around, waited for an enemy to attack me, trigger witch time and then mash buttons, completely over-relying on it.

After playing DMC4SE quite a while, I suddenly am much more into launching enemies and keeping them suspended in the air, which is way more fun. It suddenly feels like I´ve gained the vertical dimension in the battle system!

I bought a 360 for this game when I saw how terrible the PS3 version was. I loved it, but I haven't played it since. Sorry, far newer games in my back log, you're just gonna have to keep waiting.

I'm noticing that my ability to launch things and bully in the air is directly tied to how much fun I will be having :v

At least in B2, the execution barrier to do this was pretty low, so I had a lot of fun lol

(actually, this is not true: Senran Kagura is a terrible game series and I wish I would stop playing it)

lmao forgot about the gracious and glorious that were near a hidden treasure chest after you already just fought a pair, still alive!

Crashes changing resolution. Ok, most games do this in the first time I launch then. Annoying but I more or less got used to it.

But then screen goes black during gameplay (not crash, sound and controls still working)....

I wonder how long it will take to have something that just works on PC.

tried alt enter to bring it back to window mode?

Is there no chance of this ever happening with Bayonetta 2?

Did Nintendo actually get credited in its development? Or was it more like when Sony helps bring games to console?

I'm hoping for the latter.

Maybe crashing is normal for you when you change the resolution in a PC game but I don't think that's normal at all for most people. I'd say 99% of the time through 2 different systems in the past 6 years my game doesn't crash when changing the resolution.

Tried playing on my Steam Link and it absolutely cannot handle this game at 4K (1060 6GB and i5 6600K). 1080p is peachy though.

It would be like Bloodborne coming to PC (ain't gonna happen).

Nintendo funded development of the game, published it and owns its code. There's a small chance they might reach an agreement at some point, but it's not particularly likely.

If you have Windows 10, people are reporting that upgrading to the Creators Update fixed the issues.
Thanks for the suggestion, but this system has only ever been running the Creator's Update.
Game Mode doesn't help either - it actually seemed to make things worse.

If enemies have stars around their head you can easily launch by holding back and pressing punch whole locked on. You can then use Afterburner kick to drag em even higher
