Project scorpio to be unveiled at E3

Not to be negative..

But MS has so many games in its back catalog to floor any E3 they wanted....

I mean, can MS really kill E3 with just Forza, Sea Of Thieves, and Crackdown?? Thats already expected and not mind shattering...

And with the recent cancellations and loosing 2nd party.. it is just puzzling!

They should just do a Sony a announce Kickstarters for Blinkx Remix, Otogi 3 etc. They can drag those hype bombs out for years!

They should have a lot more than those 3 games. We'll be seeing State of Decay 2 for sure, along with maybe an update on Cuphead, Ashen, and Below. I also think we'll see a Halo 6 teaser and an Ori 2 announcement. I think that's a good set of games as long as we get a few more game announcements (a new IP and maybe a reboot of something?), and some cool third party reveals + some interesting features for the console.

Gamescom is right around the corner as well, so if they intend to do a conference, they will need some stuff to announce there as well.

I would totally pitch in for a Fuzion Frenzy sequel.

I hope State of Decay really makes my jaw drop with graphical power.

I need more HDR games! And i hope these new games have ATMOS! or games from the past receive an update for ATMOS! (idk if that is possible)

Phil himself said they just want to focus on games at e3 and hinted at a prior event again so this is weird.

They might have shifted gears and are gonna try to sell the Scorpio as their next gen console.

Just remembering how Sony revealed the Pro vs how MS is doing it, I wouldnt be surprised.

Launching in Nov....hmmmm.....lol

Naw, I remember they showed the One S at E3, right? They probably just want a bigger audience.

Don't know how to feel......

I thought E3 was all about games.. this will take away from other games... I have very high expectations for MS E3... this sort of brings me down...

I actually really feel you on this reaction. Phil's said over and over it's all about the games at E3, and now it will be used to launch a new console. Again, just like they did at last year's E3 with the One S.

If it's supposed to be all about the games, why not announce the hardware earlier or later, so you can spend the conference dazzling with the games?

That's where I see a problem is with the timing. Now they are clearly going to have to spend a lot of time showing off how amazing games will look on Scorpio. That naturally takes away time that they could be using to show amazing new games running on existing Xbox One hardware doesn't it? And if I do own one, showing me Forza at 4k/60fps will be neat, but won't it be hard not to be a little disappointed? Like 'Wow that looks amazing but I have to shell out another 4-500 to get that? What can I get that will be that impressive on what I've already bought?'

It's a really odd time to announce it and focus on it I think, for what Scorpio is. September last year for the Pro made much more sense. People were hyped and clear on what games were coming to PS4 from E3 in June, then enthusiasts got some more info a few months later and could look deeper into the differences and see if they wanted to spring for a Pro when it came out. It didn't take away from the incoming PS4 lineup.

This and I have a feeling Crack Down 3 is going to be stupid awesome.

All they have to do right now is show the Scorpio raise from the floor, announce its name and price. Thats going to take all of what 5 minutes?

Phil seems to be indicating that they have other games, exclusive to Xbox that they will be showing.

They can do the hardware stuff in like 10 minutes, leaving 80+ for the game content. No big deal. MS are usually pretty keen to keep the show moving.

Glad to know this is happening at E3 and not the May hardware event that was recently announced. Now I know I can sell my One S at the beginning of June instead of immediately.

Yah, Crackdown should be a real treat on Scorpio. Crazy destruction and, hopefully a solid so and MP side.

I'm just hoping for single player period. Some folks made a point, Crackdown might be online only. Damn, I hope not.

It's an Xbox console that gets back to doing what Xbox does best: powerful hardware, good dev tools, and strong system features that push the medium forward. When it comes to hardware and features, Xbox has been incredibly strong since Phil took over. He needs to stop closing studios and get first party back to where it was in the early 360 days, though. Hopefully now that the other stuff is in good shape, that'll be his initiative going forward.

Yeah I get that and for a developer that's good news. I'm talking about the consumer, are consumers really looking into more specs? How about a better UI? UHD Blu Rays? I don't know to me its just another console that is an extension of Xbox One.

YES!!!! This is what we need..

There's so many possibilities. I was thinking the other day how xbox needs another 3rd person action game like Ninja Gaiden.. MS and Itigaki could partner up again and announce a spin off action game like NG..

I could go on.... and on...

So...not to be that guy but why is this all of a sudden the most exciting thing ever? Its just an Xbox One with more specs. Its like that guy that made that other thread about having a spiffy UI, more multimedia options, and etc. But cmon...the games...where are they? All this power is meaningless without the games.

We just reached the point where I guess games no longer matter its how powerful the console is. I mean this excitement was also present before the Xbox One was unveiled and look where it ended up.

Sales blatantly show that most people are buying consoles to play popular multiplats.

Popular multiplats being on Xbox is a given so I'm not sure why it's surprising that many are excited to see how the popular sports, shooters, action titles, open world games, etc. run/look on the system.

The same was true back in 2012/2013 for the PS4 and Xbox One.

Honestly I wouldn't count on crackdown 3 too much. Shinobi said that the development for that game has been rough, which is probably why we haven't seen a single gameplay since the 2014 announcement. Hopefully I'm proven wrong and the game is great.

I think it'll appeal to the hardcore Xbox fans most because it'll be the most powerful box. Xbox fans have expected that for the brand's entire life up until 2013, and now that'll be the case again. At the price it'll be releasing at, I think that's more than enough to sell the kind of hardware they want to sell early in the product's life. That will only work for a short time, though, so they need to get the new games out soon.

They have Reagent, Cloudgine, Sumo Digital, and Ruffian working on the game. It seems like all hands are on deck to get this out soon, IMO.

He also said every game development is rough and its coming along fine.

Regarding the conf. I am expecting something like this:

Overwatch with 4K assets.

Call of duty ~

Battlefield ~

Etc.

Kuch.

Scorpio unveil = 15 minutes
Minecraft = 10 minutes
Halo/Gears/Forza = 20 minutes
Shadow of War = 10 minutes
Crackdown/Sea of Thieves/State of decay 2 = 20 minutes

That is about 75 minutes. Hopefully MS is able to squeeze in some more surprises otherwise their E3 event is gonna be kind of boring and predictable.

Also there is a possibility we might see the next tomb raider here too. Shadow of Lara I think? Not exclusive but with 4K assets only on Scorpio.

The sole reason they delayed the game was due the campaign, multiplayer was ready to launch last year, but they would release the game without a sp campaign to be added later.

I have a feeling they'll start the conference with Scorpio to announce price and release date and then go on to say that all experiences to be shown are running on Scorpio as to not have any confusion, and then it'll be all games from there.

I'm not sure how the'll spend 20 minutes on Halo, Gears, and Forza. Halo 6 reveal would be a teaser, and I don't think there will be any major Gears announcements other than a new mode and maps. They don't generally spend too long on Forza at E3 anyway. Shadow of War also has a ton of footage out there, so I don't see 10 minutes for it.

So important question: will this E3 be broadcast in 4K?

If they can't do it live, it would be cool if they could at least release a 4K/HDR version of the conference later in the day.

Well its not that I'm surprised I just think people are excited for the wrong reasons. I don't really think people know why they are excited about it. But its much like the Switch which I didn't see it as a big deal yet it sold pretty well.

Star Wars.. yes....

What about Marvel? What about Disney movies coming out on consoles? The posibilities are endless..

And Star Wars still comes out on Xbox..

What are you talking about? You think one of the manufacturers would be able to get an exclusive licence with Disney?

Why would you even want that?
