Edit: Once you remap the Bixby key to something like Google Assistant, can you remove the app after and it will keep those settings or does that app have to remain on my phone? I dislike that it wants permissions to basically every aspect of the phone.

(Samsung has the theme creators NDA'ed pretty well, I've not even been able to find if the Theme creator software allows this yet).

My only gripe is that it wants access to odd things on your phone and it's not clear yet if you can remap the Bixby button and then remove the app. I'm guessing not.

Yeah. If Samsung really wanted to do right by their customers, they would integrate an option into the software so that the Bixby button becomes an "assistant" button. Then you can choose to use what ever you'd like. Or the option to use something else if you want to disable Bixby.

It needs the permissions to be able to remap the button. That is how it reroutes the button press. It won't work if it's uninstalled.

Those cases have a chip so the phone identifies it.

Probably it wasn't well padded or it got damaged easily.
