Fuck. Will give the Tories more free reign over their policies. Shit why couldn't any of the other parties sort themselves out and set up as a valid opposition?
 
Great. An increased Tory majority, and there's no guarantee that Corbyn will resign after getting embarrassed. I'm convinced he won't.

In all likelihood. While the nature of British politics will mean that even people will voted to stay in the EU may still vote Tory, whether because of general party allegiance or feeling they'd prefer more stability during the situation we're stuck with.

That is to say, I do not expect my local MP to be ousted any time soon.

Depends on who you ask. For the Tories this is great. They beat Labour in the polls, they will consolidate power. That would project a great mandate for May in the Brexit negotiations.

Now, if you don't like the Tories.... .... time to leave the country. Or vote LibDems. Or pray that Corbyn goes away.
 
Imagine being so utterly sure of victory you can call another election so soon after the last even with all the Brexit fallout because the opposition is so incompetent they pose no threat.

Pretty much yeah, May obviously wants to put an end to the 'Your unelected!' sniping from the Labour party and give herself more flexibility and authority in upcoming negotiations by securing a huge majority (based on the current state of the polls and the desperate situation the Labour party is in) and so removing any possibility of commons defeats.

It'd be nice if somehow the Labour party could offer a credible alternative, but unless Corbyn immediately resigned I just don't see that happening as everything about a general election campaign is just stacked against him.

Labour are going to get fucked 1) Corbyn is an asshole and 2) People will think voting for a different party will upset Brexit negotiations.

Of course public sentiment will shift based on how EU negotiations are going. It's patently obvious to everyone involved that EU negotiations will be shit, that every other trade partner we negotiate with will have us over a barrel, and that the negotiations are being run by cretins. An early election while the polls are still in their favour is the obvious best move for a morally bankrupt party intent on dragging us into a political situation that's disastrous for everyone except for their donors.

Brexit is the only issue for the next half-decade and the opposition backed the government's bills on it. Masterful realpolitik by Corbyn, there is literally no reason to vote for them.
 
The only surprise is that the Tories are cashing in their Corbyn card so soon, they could string it along for another 12-24 months with him in charge and gurantee an election victory.
