Sony Playstation: First Party Studios & their Current Projects

So, this is making the rounds:

weird off model aloy.
If a Playstation mascot game was in development that actually plays well, that would be fantastic.
If PSA2 was a thing I'd hope the Bloodborne rep would be a boss instead of a generic hunter. Someone like
Gehrman
or Maria
Bloodborne hunter please, not a boss.
so when's the sony reporting out? I thought it was today
What is the Sony reporting?

So...some website put out an E3 list of what we are going to see. Bloodborne 2 is on that list as *likely*.

https://www.latestnewsexplorer.com/e3-2017-the-big-list-of-confirmed-games/

Please be real. A sequel to Bloodborne does not need to take place in Yharnam or its original setting. Just give me more Bloodborne, Sony/From.

Tbh, I'm not even sure what studio would make a FG for Sony that would get me excited.

Capcoms the only one I trust with that stuff personally but what are people's hopes as to who should helm a game like that?
Not Sony studio, but I would love to see David Jaffe try to make a fighting game. Don't even have to be traditional fighting game. I think a power stone or smash bros style games by Jaffe would be cool.

I'd like a JRPG from Sony as well. The more, the merrier. I want it to be turn based too!

Supposedly. He left recently because people kept pestering him about it though.

Didn't leave. Just left that thread. It's become too toxic. If someone wants to PM me, i'll give insight as to who I am. I'm just not gonna throw stuff out there though.

That leak is fake but what about All-Stars 2 in general? ;)

Nothing by that name will be happening.

We really don't know much about Japan Studio. Is Gavin Moore still there? His last game was Puppeteer. Also, I'm sure there is another unannounced AAA game going on there, because Knack 2 is not a big project. TLG was pretty much a collaboration with GenDesign, while team Siren is probably taking a break or working on pre-production stuff for their new IP. Bloodborne producers still haven't announced their game yet.

TLG wasn't a collaboration in the same way Bloodborne or Everybody's Golf were though, where they're basically just producers overseeing the project. GenDesign are a tiny team, so even ignoring the work that'd been done on the game before Ueda left Sony, Japan Studio still played a huge role in its development.

what a minute. What dots were being connected?

He's referring to the Microsoft first party thread, where some people started getting angry at him for not sugar-coating reality.

Last thing I heard, which was in early 2014, was that due to Puppeteer's abysmal retail performance, he'd be concentrating on smaller, digital titles.

I really want Puppeteer 2, or a spiritual successor.

As much as I want Resistance 4, I want Insomniac back at the helm, and that doesn't seem feasible right now. I'm assuming the Burbank studio is all in on what looks to be an ambitious Spider-Man, and the NC studio is hopefully working on another Ratchet, or helping with Spidey. Still, the right developer fleshing out the Chimeran Homeworld, Pure Chimera, and Grey Tech could sway me.

that PSABR 2 poster is sooooooo fake

using random model and concept art, all of which are not homogeneous collectively with one another and are basic copy and pastes

Of course Sony isn't gonna called it Playstation All Stars again, it sounds lame. You guys should ask if there is a 1st party fighting game in development.

Does anyone knows if Sony was supposed to publish "What Remains of Edith Finch" at some point? I recall some mystery surrounding the publishing of that game but maybe was my imagination.

Yes at one point. But since then Sony sold most of the X-Dev portion of Sony Santa Monica to Annapurna. It was never about quality, it just looks like they were converting Santa Monica back to being a big AAA studio after being in the wilderness for a little bit.

Oh so it was one of those typically Santa Monica published games? pity, the game is magnificent, it would have been great for them to publish it, at least in reputation.

When Shu talked about the possibility of a fighting game coming back, but in a different way, what I took away from that was if they did it again, revamped mechanics and revamped name.

Wait, who else said something similar?

I can't find traces of the other guy so it was only leaves to this...
You be the judge.

Basically. Remember when shuhei said something not putting All Stars successor off the table until they find better mechanics for it?

Those certain insider posts I've read and what he said insinuates it's gonna have a new name, maybe it won't be in the (or half of it really)vain of smash and probably will be something in the vain of powerstone, maybe a multi plane beat-em up and what not.

But again. You be the judge. Meanwhile I'll just stay in the "keep dreaming" camp and will attend in that goofy dumb trademark watch in May.

Yeah. Annapurna wanted to start in the games business and I suspect Sony wanted to double down on Santa Monica's AAA capabilities (either 1 large team or 2 teams), no doubt using the proceeds of the sale to that end, so a good deal for both sides.

It was, and the dev Giant Sprrow was even incubated withing the Santa Monica Studio offices too.

The new publisher, Annapurna Interactive, was born pretty much from the ashes of the exdev division of SMS. Santa Monica former exdev creative director Nathan Gary is the head of A.I and a bunch of other former SMS employees work there too.

But for some reason, Sony still owns the trademark and they asked and were granted and extension for the ownership of the TM in March of this year. Weird since the deal with Annapurna has been know since last year, maybe in some way Sony still owns some of the game IDK

While I was looking for the PSASBR trademark, I noticed that not only Sony still owns the trademark for What Remains of Edith Finch, but that they asked for (and were granted) an extension on March 15, 2017

A weird move for a game they are not publishing anymore no?

Sure, I'm convinced it was the best thing to do. From a fan perspective I just think about how long have been since the last critically acclaimed game published by Sony Santa Monica and thought that it would have been great to have Edith Finch just for that but ultimately is an irrelevant thinking, the game got made which is the most important thing and it looks great for Annapurna to start with this, I just hope the game sells enough, it launched pretty quietly.

I'm really dreading that multiplayer programmer job notice Sony Santa Monica posted sometime back. God of War better not be bogged down by that. We don't need a tacked on element.

The MP was God of War Ascension's most praised aspect, and The Last of Us will always be proof to me that a story driven SP game can pull off it's MP aspect.

Resistance 4? I seriously doubt that. Shinobi already debunked "Project Oscar" on Twitter. Square Enix' Avengers game will most certainly not be there this year seeing as they said they'd be showing more in 2018 right after revealing. Why would Microsoft be showing Voodoo Vince when it'll have been put for 2 months at that point and it's not even published by them. The whole thing is steamy creamy bullshit.

To be clear though, I would fucking love a new Resistance instalment. Although at this point Sony would probably be better trying to launch an FPS new IP rather than bring that back.

I absolutely did not like it, it didn't connect a whole lot for me, and the series did not need it whatsoever. People stopped talking about it in a month too. Also, I thought it definitely took away from the single-player as was evident.

Sure, a story-driven game can pull off MP, but does it need it to begin with? Why not just focus on delivering a majestic SP experience. We need more of those nowadays.

Now GoW going with a little souls like approach, don't you think a souls like online feature is suitable?
Nothing major, just arena PVP or objective mode or co-op horde mode...

Not sure how any of that will work with the camera system and gameplay they're going with in the new game. It would have to be a wholly different game, I think.

What I find surprising is that Cory mentioned they would not have any MP in the game. Maybe it's for some later project.
