The game seems very interesting. Just noticed it's only $49 on Steam. Strange, wonder why it's not the usual $59 like the PS4/XB1 version.

Anyone else notice its specs on PC are insane?

Recommended
OS: Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit)
Processor: AMD FX-8370 (4,0 GHz) / Intel Core i7-3820 (3,6 GHz)
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: 4 GB, AMD Radeon RX 480 / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
DirectX: Version 11
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 15 GB available space
Additional Notes: INTERNET CONNECTION REQUIRED FOR GAME ACTIVATION

16 GB RAM!!!

I actually think this game looks less like Dark Souls every time I see it and more like a next gen beat'em up with scifi trappings. I'm all for this as I love scifi and I fucking love me some beat'em ups.

What's surprising about 16gb of RAM? Games req 16 pretty often now.

Really nice. I'm really pumped for this game since the announcement (LoTF fan here) and judging by the videos, the improvements are really nice.

I really recommend Karak's (ACG) interview with one of the designers that appears on this video. Really informative and one piece of information that stood out for me is that they decided to change the felling of moving the character from a Tankier approach like in LoTF to a more responsive and faster approach.

unfortunately, i fear this game will bomb, whether it deserves to or not. if i had some cash just lying around, i'd support it. but i don't :( ...

I know, it's just surprising to see Battlefield 1-level recommended specs on this game. Makes me excited for how good it will look.

LOTF looks pretty good too outside of chromatic aberration and boring locales so I have hope for The Surge looking good too.

Really excited to play this, just hope the reviews are good, seems to me people are not taking too much care for this game cause of Lords of the fallen.

Finally got a chance to watch this and this is actually looking to be a pretty solid title. Say what you will about the environmental design or the mech suit but the gameplay itself looks like it could be really fun. I won't know for sure till I get a hands on and see how responsive it is and all that and if the systems work through out an entire game but they are doing some cool stuff like the dodges, the slides and the targeting of specific limbs. There were also I think some slightly spoilerific parts like that one enemy that looks like nothing else in the game popping up in the middle of the video.

I know people have been super down on this from day one, but every video they show just pushes me closer to a purchase. The combat looks really fast and interesting, and the idea of this sprawling industrial complex is pretty appealing to me.

I think it looks pretty cool visually, too.

hated Lords of the Fallen but I always love a good redemption story... get decent reviews and you'll have my $60

Looks pretty cool to be honest. I'm more and more interested. Especially because of the fighting gameplay.
Hope it will run nice on PS4.
Will be 60fps on the PRO, right?

Could be a lot more visually appealing, seems kind of like a boring look for a scifi dark souls but gameplay looks like a lot of fun.

I'm in if reviews are good.

I don't really understand this complaint. The game's setting being a futuristic wasteland is -
to me - far more appealing than yet another Souls-style game set in a yet another Souls-style environment.

Even as someone that's been a fan of that style of setting, it was time for something different with these games.

I'm a much bigger fan of science fiction than medieval sword and sorcerery but the industrial wasteland setting and enemy designs just aren't doing anything for me right now.

I guess when I thought of Scifi Souls all these years, I was thinking something abit more vibrant and stylish.

I haven't run into any laser swords yet, but if I do you'll be the first to know :)

Yeah, some people may not like the setting, and that's fine; but the game's art looks pretty good and perfectly in line with what they set out to do. But really, that was the least of my worries ever since the announcement, D13's environmental art has always been great.

I just got the early copy of the game and it's only 5.79GB plus 200MB+ for the 1.01 update. LOL

Also, here's a few screenshots from setting options.

I suggest you turn off Chroma Shift as soon as possible, unless they've learned how to do CA it properly since LotF. I probably wouldn't like it anyway, I hate that effect.

Video got me intrigued. Didn't seem as boring as the earlier combat trailer. A good sci-fi story would be good.

I don't recall lords of the fallen being that large. Could just be a smaller game. That's not necessarily a bad thing. On a bit of a burnout with these 50hr+ games as of late.

It's fair to not be into medieval fantasy stuff, but what do you find interesting about The Surge's sci-fi setting? Personally I don't really like the junkyard/factory look, and I think the large exosuits just look silly. The aesthetic is very mundane, low tier sci-fi - nothing really impressive though a couple of bosses looked neat but overall it just feels generic, lacking creativity. By that I mean, what really makes the style stand out compared to the hundreds of other sci-fi games? Not much I think, just like Lords of the Fallen.

It's exactly like Dark Souls game with Virus (1999) movie theme. And I like it so far.

Still trying to kill the first boss. xD

Also there're 44 trophies total (1 Plat, 1 Gold, 10 Silver and 32 Bronze).

I really like the combat system in this game. But the only thing that I hate is how to change a target. You have to hold L2 before using the right analog stick to change a target because if you're not holding L2, the right analog stick is for selecting which enemy body part to attack. Also, you will make more damages on unarmored enemy body part but if you attacking them on armored body part. You will get more change for an armor/material drops from them.

Here's the 1st boss fight gameplay and a a few minutes of gameplay (on the 2nd map) that I recorded.

You can command a drone to attack an enemy too, I lure them with a drone because they don't do much damage yet. And an execution action will be different depending on witch enemy body part you're selected. And if you can get behide an enemy, you can kick them down with a normal attack (R1) and the next hit will do a lot more damage too.

Have you played any of the Souls games or games like Nioh? How does The Surge stack up in your early impressions so far?

Sounds cool. The sci-fi theme and chunky industrial weapons/design really appeals to me maybe even more than Bloodborne's Gothic style, so I'm definitely interested in further impressions

Just killed the 2nd boss a few hours ago.

I really love the game so far, but I need to finish it first before I can recommend it to anyone. lol For me, this game is harder than Bloodborne and Nioh. And the only type of enemy that I've seen so far is human (with different type of weapon). There's also a
giant robot
too but I'm trying to avoid them, no need to fight.

Sure man, I'll let you know.

Unfortunately,i'm not feeling it at all with the art direction..everything is just metal corridors and rooms.
I think i would have preferred actual robots instead of humans with Elysium-like armors.

I know it's only one person's opinion, but you have me cautiously optimistic.
