Still debating whether I should get a day off or just sleep less and go to work since it's at 4am for me...argh the wait is fucking killing me

Presentation was the biggest issue w/ Sony's E3 2014.

Bloodborne was a great reveal, but it being a CGi trailer kinda left one with a feeling of meh since we've already seen a leaked Project Beast trailer that had awesome gameplay snippets. I get they're keeping gameplay reveal for Gamescom, but it still made the reveal not as impactful as it could've been.

Ratchet was a bad reveal. Just showing the logo and having Andrew House talking about it left it feeling like it wasn't something Sony bothered to announce properly. I definitely left that announcement thinking "is this going to be some low-effort garbage R&C?"

LBP3 was a good reveal for what it was. But it's not the type of IP that generates excitement from the core audience.

Uncharted 4 was a good reveal (again, for what it was), but it being :
- teased 6 months prior at PS4 Launch Event
- going through Amy Hennig's cancellation issues

Dampened the strength of that reveal, which was again, pretty good imo. It was what Sony needed to show, after the uncertainty surrounding the game. But if not for that, it would have been best if they could had revealed what they showed at PSX (gameplay) instead of just a tone-piece cutscene.

Sony's conference I think will be very good, just no way they'll be able to top what they were producing the past two years in terms of desired game announcements and surprises. So when you can't top something, you go down. So I think this year they'll backslide a little, but still have a very good show.

Hoping to see Dreams become a thing. Also hope we see more of Days Gone. That shit looked rough and early, but the concept looked bonkers amazing. I hope that it has shaped up and is ready to be seen. Interested in Sucker Punch's new game, despite inFamous not being my cup o' tea.

I'm wondering what Knack 2 will deliver. Knack 1 was pretty OK but clearly there is tons of room for growth. I doubt we'll see anything from Last of US II. Too early that announcement.

I just hope we continue to see investment in brand new IPs with fresh ideas and shooting for the sun.

One thing Sony always delivers is an unprecedented level of experimentation with genres and themes and worlds, whereas with Nintendo even when they're going wild there is usually dominated by games with Mario in the title or Zelda in the title or whatever and it's E10+ and they never touch certain genres. So it can be a hype concept, but we're back in the Mushroom Kingdom. With Sony they might fail, but they are always reaching for the stars. With Nintendo they are far more likely to make an amazing game, but sometimes it's too predictable and I'm tired of their characters and worlds. But even though I'm not interested in ARMS, that and Splatoon suggest maybe they're ready to start pouring bigger production budgets toward fresh IPs in core gamer genres. I guess it depends on how deep ARMS is, it looks a bit Wii Boxing to me with versatility of boxing gloves. Which is why I'm not interested in it, ha! We'll see.

The merging of Nintendo's development teams was supposed to be the biggest draw of Switch, but so far the lineup has been pretty dire for me so I expect Nintendo E3 Direct to change that. Want to see real Fire Emblem Switch, not the Musou game. Want to see a surprise like maybe a new Advanced War or a new light hearted RPG totally unrelated to Xenoblade. Something like a Star Tropics perhaps but with all the lessons they've learned since.

And I hope whatever Retro is working on, it is not a friggin' remaster of their Donkey Kong games or a DKC game period. I just do not dig those games, but loved Metroid Prime. So please more like Prime, less like DKC!

You heard this where?

It was like 15 days ago or something, So i can't pinpoint the actual source, Obviously its from Twitter but that guy has some previous repo , atleast for me. I'll just say that there is 80% chances of its happening with a teaser or debut trailer only.

Who is that guy on twitter? not that i don't believe you but i'd like to look it up myself.

But I heard it will be only a teaser or trailer and not gameplay. it will not be like Horizon reveal.

I bet it was Tidux because I heard that teaser thing and I am pretty sure it was from him.

lmao then there is nothing to see here.

Edit: found it.

Everyone could predict this and i bet if it doesn't happen he says hey things can change last minute, it's always the same with these clowns...

I am pretty sure Death Stranding will have the most sensational trailer this year.

It'll be another "cinematic character introduction" trailer imo and so on until next E3, where the first proper gameplay trailer will be showed.

Best case scenario: E3 2017 trailer will contain 2 seconds of gameplay that will get giffed and analyzed ad infinitum.

I'd certainly hope for something more substantial than a short teaser from Sucker Punch to be honest. Infamous: SS was release in 2014, so only a teaser would be pretty disappointing, I want to see gameplay.

Other than SP's new game, I have no idea what they're gonna show that we haven't seen already.

There is no way in hell they can top last year's conference.

Well it was indeed from him, I confused it with Thuway , that is why unable to get the exact tweet. Thuway do have better Sources.

The best part about this thread is the complete, wild speculation that mixes with all the shit that is happening behind the scenes to secure the stuff that happens AT the actual showcase. Even for us inside, it's just as chaotic and while I hate my job during this goddamn show, the payoffs are amazing.

Keep speculating, friends. It makes my day when I see that all the planning and plotting is undermined by a random cast-off prediction. I don't mean that facetiously; you guys are good at this thing.

[Full disclosure] I am a PlayStation employee, and literally not one letter of what I've posted is in any way representative of or implying position of anyone at PlayStation or Sony Interactive Entertainment's stance on things.

This is me geeking out with you guys and loving what E3 is to you. Because to us, it's a creeping deadline of shit we have to manage for a singular moment that we will have to work around for another six months and it could go either way. Nintendo and Microsoft are both doing an amazing job right now, and this is literally what E3 is all about: showcases of what you've got and an overabundance of stuff to gorge yourselves on as we see it all unveiled.

This the the best fuckin' industry, guys. We get to see stuff that makes us all happy we bought (or might buy) a system for. Or stuff that makes us want to buy one! Or rail against, I dunno how your general sentiment is going to go, but that unknown keeps me plugging away at all this prep.

It's worth it, and I'm happy you're with me on the hype train.
E3 is like the best time of year for me. Staying up all night, booking off work with a whatsapp group of fellow gamers watching it all and chatting. E3 2015 was especially amazing just because you guys managed to keep that all secret. 'Twas crazy!

Really excited for this year as well, even if it's just gameplay of currently announced games with a couple of announcements I'll be happy. Keep it up.

But I heard it will be only a teaser or trailer and not gameplay. it will not be like Horizon reveal.

If true that's extremely disappointing, fuck this teaser shit, don't bother show up at all, there shouldn't be a new IP reveal at E3 that is without any gameplay.

Maybe The Sp game will be revealed the same as the Bloodborne. Cg trailer at E3 with Behind the Show game Sneak peak and later released within 8 months. Although instead of CG the trailer will be In-Game.

What are you guys going to get in terms of snacks and stuff for the conferences?

Im on the west coast myself so for me it's right after work. If I have time I'm going to grill myself a kebab and put it on a pita with some roasted potatoes on the side. Thirty minutes should be enough

Any word on the E3 experience shows in theaters this year? I think they announced a couple of weeks before and registration opened like last week of May last year.
