Wonder Woman now tracking to have opening on par with other DCEU movies

The most popular female superhero of all time, is shooting for Dr.Strange numbers......what a world.

That's... not how these numbers work.

MCU fanbase and b.o. strength vs. DCEU coming after BvS and (especially) SS.

But GAF DCEU threads are notoriously ill informed and troll based so I guess you're going in that predictable basket.

100+ for a WW solo is a great tracking number and it can only go (a bit) higher from this point on.

Sure, let's hope people don't go and see a new movie by a different director and different actors only because two other related films were "garbage movies".

They should go and see the 103# same Marvel movie instead. Cinematographic art of the highest order the whole lot.

Anyways, placing this against Pirates 5 is a guaranteed suicide. Good luck genious WB.

Deborah Snyder and Zack Snyder are the producer . Zack even contributed to the writing some how.

MCU didn't launch with a fanbase, they built one by making movies folks enjoy. Why is this concept harder than reading the Book of The Vishanti?

Agreed, though Gadot is probably not that expensive so they may have saved some money there.

Salary for the Lead actor in these debut superhero movies are rounding errors. Hemsworth and Evans took home mid 6-figure paydays on Thor and First Avenger. Both of those were $140M+ films. None of the WB superhero films have been cheap (even before the DCEU). I don't see how this one would get half the budget the rest. Cheaper, sure. Just not by $75-150M.

D'oh? What does that have to do with anything I said? Doc Strange is MCU's 14th movie, which was THE POINT.

Funny thing is they are just reporting The Wrap..

Funny thing is that part of the reason Screenrant is so often full of shit is that mostly all they do is rewrite other people's stories (poorly) with no further research of their own, often adding shitty editorial slant or even worse, obfuscating the facts in the story they're recycling and piggybacking on for pageviews.

Funny thing about cheap bullshit content farms...

Oh yeah now its that suddenly. ;)

I'm not surprised by the production cost. They're probably paying Gal Gadot in acting lessons, which, from the look of it, they still haven't paid for.

Well, i think you're both agreeing, aren't you?

Marvel made good to great movies, and quite a lot of them.
DC made mediocre to bad movies, but only a few of them.

Which bumps the audience numbers lesser known Marvel property and drags down the numbers of a rather popular DC property so they might end up performing comparatively.

Stop trying to bring people together! Who do you think you are?! Donald Trump?!

They are paying her in acting lessons? Like instead of money? But they haven't paid for the acting lessons they are paying her in? What?

On par with Captain America: First Avenger makes sense to me... Bother period piece origins films that are lower key in general....

Wondy would probably be on track to do better if everything coming before it hadn't been varying levels of not good.

I don't even understand how this film looks remotely interesting to people. Cliff Chiang was doing artwork for the comic and I was still sorta borderline. I'm a guy who actually will read comics books here and there and have issues. I have no idea how an average person looks at this with interest.

SHE CAN'T ACT, GET IT? SHE IS A PERSON WHO IS BAD AT ACTING

HAW HAW

Yeah yeah try to spin it. ;)
Just admit you didnt read it was a Wrap reporting. Its fine.

Theorry, I wasn't even talking about the Wrap. My comment was 100% a shot at Screenrant in general. For being shitty. Because they've always been shitty. It was literally the entire thrust of the comment I made.

It was only when you tried this gotcha thing that I had to break down to you why it was I was calling them shitty, which has nothing to do with this particular story at all, but with their practices in general, hence my saying in the post you were trying to respond to that you could make this comment about Screenrant being full of shit in most threads that their link is posted.

Because they're consistently full of shit.

Get it now?

So not 100M

But 65M OW

At least they aren't aiming high.

I just don't want this to suck.

This isn't WB's target. This is what the opening weekend is tracking towards 3 weeks out from release. We get this early tracking at this point before release for every film.

I have no idea what WB was targeting as an acceptable start. I suppose that $65M wouldn't be horrible if the legs were closer to Ant-Man's than BvS'

No surprise there, the previous DCEU movies weren't great, and I think Wonder Woman as a hero has a lot less traction and star power than lets say a Batman or even Harley Quinn.

I can't help but think legs will be rough. POTC week before, Captain Underpants the week of, Mummy the week after, then in the next 2-3 weeks you got Cars 3, All Eyez on Me, Transformers, Despicable Me 3. Yeah, it's summer months, but it's undoubtedly the most competition the DCEU has had.

It'll be interesting to see the legs. If the movie sucks like BvS and SS, I expect short legs, if it's okayish like MoS, then it might have decent legs. If the movie is actually good, then WOM might carry it.

After recently seeing gotg2 anything DC/WB releases will be utter trash.. I don't have any hopes for WW, or even JL.. WB need to revamp how they handle development(good luck) of this universe. I do HOPE WW and JL are great movies ,though. I am a DC fan but hopes are diminishing quickly.. damn gotg2 was great..

$65M would be shocking, and probably make heads roll over at WB. A Wonder Woman film should certainly be able to outopen what a Thor film did in 2011.

If that happens, I suspect the bulk of the speculation will be that DC films are a severely tarnished brand. Personally, I don't see it opening below $80M, but the tracking does give me pause.

I'm tempted to instant ignore people who harp on the "can't act no expressions she's just hot" train because dear God do those people have some serious issues they need to resolve.

I didn't stutter.

What if we just indicate that she can't act, without mentioning anything about her physical appearance? Are we ignored? DONT IGNORE ME, DEATHY.
